Chapter 2330 End (1)
Chapter 2330 End (1)
It was only when Dyon saw Madeleine's eyes flutter open and felt her wrap her arms tightly around him did he finally breathe a sigh of relief. It was as though all the weight he had been bearing alone for so long had finally left his shoulders, allowing his body to feel lighter than it ever had before.
Finally, Dyon really had no choice left but to explain.
"Fine, fine. For you all, I really will make an exception." Dyon lightly smiled.
It had been too long since he smiled such a genuine smile. Maybe he never had since Madeleine's death in his first life. It could only be said that he wasn't truly free until this moment.
"In my first life… it could be said that my world was shrouded in darkness."
Dyon's wives and his daughter sat around him.
Each of them represented a different piece of his heart and had experienced different things with him. However, this would be the first time they would learn about everything.
"My parents were only Saints. In that era, such a cultivation level was pitifully weak. I wasn't meant to accomplish very much at all."
Dyon smiled lightly. He had been born in the warring era between the Primordial and Golden Eras. Back then, qi was so abundant that even Higher Dao Formation Realm experts could only be considered members of the younger generation. So, it was quite obvious just how poor Dyon's background was.
"Father and mother only managed to have me near the end of their lifetimes. It was already difficult for cultivators to have children, even as Saints. It could be said that they were
exceptionally unlucky, both to have me so near the end of their lives and to birth a son like me."
Dyon sighed. "You all know it well by now. I was born as the incarnation of evil, not much different from Jasmine of the Water Mist Sect. In fact, I was far worse than her. If it wasn't for the impact my parents had on my life, I would have become a devil's seed a long time ago.
"However… they were already old. I didn't have enough time to become powerful enough to help them break into the celestial realm, so I could only watch them die of old age.
"In order to vent my frustration, I made a lot of enemies in a lot of places. The morals my parents instilled in me began to conflict with my own inherent nature causing my personality to split into two lanes. On one hand, I wanted to make my parents proud. But, on the other, I was a man who sought after blood and murder.

"There were many times I nearly fell completely to those murderous thoughts and would have… had I not met Madeleine."
Dyon couldn't help but smile again, remembering those memories.
"I still remember that day well. I didn't have a good impression of her at all actually. I thought she was an arrogant bitch who thought too much of herself."
"Pft…!"
Alauna couldn't manage to maintain a serious expression.
Her father? Not liking someone because he thought they were too arrogant? Where did his hypocrisy end?
Dyon patted his chest with righteous indignation seeing those he loved the most in the world laugh at him like this.
"You all don't understand. She rode around in a blinding white flying ship and radiated golden white light all the time. She called her subordinates Holy Princesses, Queens and Empresses, and even called herself a Holy Goddess. How pretentious!"
Madeleine giggled lightly, leaning her cheek against Dyon's thighs. It was clear that she remembered those memories quite fondly as well.
Ri smiled. She remembered that when Aki had blinded her, it was a piece of that very ship that helped her heal. To think that Dyon would be calling it annoying and pretentious now. Life truly worked in mysterious ways.
"… So, I immediately decided that I had to conquer this woman. I wanted to see how she would still keep being so arrogant when I took her to my bed!"
Laughter rang out between the women. They could hear the fondness Dyon had for Madeleine in his voice, but they didn't feel dissatisfied.
In fact, as they listened on, they realized that if it wasn't for Madeleine, the husband they had come to know and love so much wouldn't be the man he was today. In many ways, it could be said that without Madeleine, maybe they wouldn't have ever found a man they could give their lives to like this…
"… In the end, Madeleine chose to sacrifice herself for my sake. Originally, her fusing with the Heavens of the mortal plane had nothing to do with this final battle. She had only done it so that she could retain the memories of her past life in some way. As long as she was reborn and broke through to a certain level of strength, she would inevitably remember.
"But, she also knew my personality. If I was able to remember the sacrifice she had made for me, I likely would have fallen to that darkness a long time ago. So.. my memories were erased."
The women had tears in their eyes when Dyon reached this point, but he was only at the beginning. He truly didn't know how they would be able to hold on to the end.
"When I entered the Immortal Plane, I didn't really have a purpose. I only knew that there was something subconsciously pushing me to grow stronger, to dominate, to conquer. In truth, I was born to destroy everything, but I eventually managed to turn that murderous will into competition and a fervor to be number one…"
Dyon explained a great many things about his life. Some things were known to his wives as they had experienced that point of his life with him, but most were not known by them…
Eventually, Dyon had no choice but to speak on Abraxus. Though he didn't want to, he felt that this was something he could only put behind him by doing this.
"… I wasn't the one who approached Abraxus, he approached me. By now, it should be obvious to you all why, though I was foolish enough to only understand now.
"It's very likely that he sensed my destiny as the evil incarnate and felt that I would be able to help his plans. He was probably all too happy to watch me suffer through your deaths time and time again, and it might very well be possible that he pulled some strings in the background to make sure it happened."
Dyon's eyes turned slightly red at this thought.
He didn't understand why he hadn't seen it clearly before. His wives were all supreme
talents of the Immortal Plane, yet, all of their lives had only been small fractions of his own.
Dyon never thought much about it. After all, just how rare was it to become an Ancestor level character who could live through trillions upon trillions of years? They could go through several generations without finding even one. There was nothing odd about his wives not managing to strengthen their Dao Hearts to live long lives…
However, the more he thought about it, the more he understood that these things couldn't possibly be so simple. In fact, it wasn't only this either…
Initially, his master rejected Aritzia as a disciple. It was only after Aritzia left and returned to the Sapientia Clan and came back that he accepted her as a disciple. Back then, he had said that it was because he sensed a change in her Dao Heart that made her suitable to become his disciple but… what if it was because he only saw through her true origins after this?
It might be very likely that Abraxus only managed to make contact with the Sapientia using Aritzia as a proxy…
It was only after Dyon felt Ri and Madeleine grasp his hands that he calmed down faintly. Luckily, in this state, he could choose who could touch him and who couldn't.
"Unfortunately, I didn't see through the act. In fact, I didn't know he was my enemy at all. The only reason I began to plan all of this was because when I grew to a certain height, I found that there was a mysterious hand that seemed to play a role in almost everything. The stronger I grew, the more certain I became that this was a single hand from a single entity…
"This led me to finding the Sapientia. I had always thought that it was them who were my
true enemies, so I prepared as such. But… I never expected that the day I sent myself into reincarnation, my disciples would be attacked and killed…
"I didn't know who did it, but there was only one person who knew I took any disciples at all."
Dyon's voice sounded quite sad at this point.
"The truth is that Abraxus' Cycles of Reincarnation technique is incomplete and far from perfect. It's the reason for his blindness… He tried to use it once and might have partially succeeded, but he paid a heavy price in return. In all likelihood, this is the true reason he could live for such a long time.
"However, I was able to perfect it because my soul reached soul quintessence. It allowed me to fuse with the Heavens in a way others couldn't imagine.
"It's quite ironic. I speak so much about hating the Heavens, but in the end, it's the reason for much of my power. Ultimately, what I came to understand is that it's nothing to be mad at…"
Dyon sighed again. He suddenly felt old.
In his 109th life, he came to understand this during his battle with Death. Often, the things we hated most in life didn't even put us in their eyes. They were things so far beyond our control that there was no point in hating them...
The best thing one could do was play the game with the cards they were dealt. Dyon had wanted to so badly defeat his master and third sister with his own two hands, but in the end, it wasn't his destiny to do so. He could only rely on what he had.
He had lived 109 lifetimes and learned this lesson 109 different ways. He didn't know whether he should be depressed or gratified
about it. But, what he did know was that he was feeling quite content at the moment.
"… I used my lifetimes to build up the armies you saw outside. But, I needed a way to do it in secret without others knowing. So… I created the Titan Diamond Body constitution and formed the Ancient Battlefield."
Dyon's wives and daughter widened their eyes in shock. If things were like this then didn't that mean that… the rise of the humans against the beasts in the Chaotic Era was thanks to Dyon?
They felt a headache thinking about the looping timelines. The cause and effect was too difficult to grasp.
"Thanks to the Ancient Battlefield, my army was able to grow in seclusion for many years. And, while the Sapientia suffered from the weakening qi of the world, my armies always cultivated in
the harsh environments of the Chaotic Era, making them several times more powerful.
"However, even then, I wasn't confident in dealing with everything, so I needed another contingency plan. Luckily, Apollos was born sometime between my 7th and 12th life…"
"That's right…" Jade started with a curious expression. "… How did you subdue someone who could defeat Abraxus while feeling unconfident that you could defeat him yourself?"
"You probably have an idea already…" Dyon said lightly. "… When I successfully merged the Ancient Battlefield with the mortal plane, the Heavens were re-established, returning the suppression they all thought was gone.
"This alone wouldn't be enough to defeat to him. The true issue lied in the fact that the Ancient Battlefield was also connected to the
Immortal Plane, allowing Apollos access to far more power than he had when I had to defeat him.
