After a full meal and all the commotion, the little one finally fell asleep.
He breathed through his tiny nostrils, which were somewhat congested from crying.
Kelly applied a hot towel to him, and despite some improvement, couldn’t help but fall asleep herself. Another nanny was guarding the child, thus, only then did Abigail carefully get up.
As she went downstairs, Dr. Watson had already left. Brandon Piers and Elder Piers were playing chess.
Seeing Abigail, Elder Piers waved her over, “I’ve heard from Brandon that you’re Ruby’s younger sister. How old are you?”
“19 years old,” Abigail replied with a smile, but in a corner of her heart, she was aware that in two more months, she would be celebrating her twenty-seventh birthday.
“Still a young girl,” Elder Piers sighed lightly, “Got into Swallow City Medical University last year? Good girl.”
Abigail glanced at Brandon, who had been silent since she came downstairs, and replied, “Yes, I’m a freshman.”
“So, you came home this time because…”

“Grandpa, it’s your turn,” Brandon suddenly interrupted him.
Elder Piers, who was interested in Abigail’s affairs, came back to his senses, glanced fiercely, and his beard bristled, “Who said you could take my knight? No, we have to start over.”
“Grandpa, you’ve already reconsidered it once,” Brandon reminded him calmly.
Elder Piers paused, his face crinkled but kindly wore an innocent expression, “Did I?”
“Yes, you did.” As he spoke, his slender white fingers moved the rook to the center, “Checkmate.”
“You’re not cute at all,” Elder Piers looked at the board and pushed the pieces forward with annoyance, “I’m done with this game, I quit!”
Brandon rose gracefully, “Miss Green, let’s talk.”
Abigail recalled the scene just now. Even as someone who had lived twice, she felt unusually nervous and pinched her thumb and index finger, “Sure.”
She had no plans of letting Ruby marry into the Piers family. Considering that woman’s temperament, she found that the child would ultimately only be used as a tool for Ruby’s advancement and wouldn’t receive an ounce of love.
But if the Piers family knew that she was the mother of the child, with her current figure, considering marrying Brandon… well, it was nearly impossible.
The Piers was an old family with deep-rooted assets. The lineage had thinned by the time it reached Brandon; Mr. Piers died in a car accident, and Mrs. Piers had a mental breakdown, living in a sanatorium for many years before moving abroad.
Elder Piers was old, and Brandon was frequently ill. It was unknown how many eyes coveted the rich Piers estate.
The Piers and Smiths had some connection in earlier years, but later, as their paths diverged, they grew apart.
The Piers’ position domestically had also solidified.
Without this child, the Green family would never have entered Brandon’s marriage considerations.
Elder Piers agreed to Ruby’s proposal partly due to her publicly revealing news of the expected child, forcing the Piers family to confront the issue. More importantly, the Piers family desperately needed a successor.
Considering Brandon’s health, no one could guarantee if he could have another child.
Last night, Elder Piers said it was for his birthday, yet it was done quietly. The Greens were invited, but Ruby was not introduced, which indicated his dissatisfaction with this marriage.
If it was revealed that she was the biological mother of the child, Abigail couldn’t imagine if the Piers’ anger would hit her. Not to mention replacing Ruby in the marriage, even seeing the child might become difficult.
Since Abigail had taken over the original master’s body, she naturally had to shoulder her responsibilities.
Ruby might not get married, but Abigail couldn’t reveal herself just yet.
Following Brandon into his study, Abigail had the situation figured out. She noticed that Brandon offered her employment contract. Initially prepared to handle the situation of Brandon feeding the baby, she hadn’t imagined this development.
“The Piers family wants to hire me as a nanny?” Abigail exclaimed, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
“Three million for twelve months. Miss Green, would you consider it?” Brandon looked into Abigail’s eyes, sincerely.
Even for the Greens, three million was not a small amount. He was trying to persuade her with money.
