Refining the Mountains and Rivers

Chapter 1822 – Descent of a Deity

Chapter 1822 – Descent of a Deity

At this time, a fluctuation suddenly appeared. Qin Yu pondered for a little while before he retrieved something with a flip of his hand. It was a token that was completely black. On the back of the token, there were two runes engraved on it. Now, a halo had appeared on its surface and it released a powerful aura.

Rumble –

The snowy region beneath their feet started to quake violently, as if an enormous creature was awakening. ‘Crack!’ Terrifying cracks spread in the ground one after another and they were pitch-black as they stretched deep underground. A miserable and pained wail rang out from the depths of the snowy region. Those snow elves that could release frost energy to freeze everything in this place instantly shattered and disappeared. When this token appeared in this world, its mere existence meant the end of these elves.

The air was still freezing cold, enough to kill any living beings that stayed here. However, at this moment, the Great Clan Elder could clearly feel the temperature rising back to normal. This was something that had never happened ever since the catastrophe that occurred many years ago, when this dead world just continued to get colder and colder!

Great Clan Elder was now very sure that Qin Yu was the Sky Spirit Clan’s new ruler! Only the reappearance of the ruler could bring about new life. This also signified a new hope for the Sky Spirit Clan, who had struggled bitterly for many years.

This was Ninerealm Holy Land’s…Saint Son Token!

Qin Yu frowned and thought for a while, before remembering that he obtained this token from the Giant Clan back then. Too much time had passed and he had almost forgotten that he was also bound to inherit the status as the Saint Son of Ninerealm Holy Land. He looked at the token in his hand and then at the Sky Spirit Clan’s Great Clan Elder who was kneeling in front of him and sobbing uncontrollably. Could it be that this dead world that could only be entered through the altar in the Sea of Confusion was actually one of the nine realms of Ninerealm Holy Land?

The thoughts spun quickly in Qin Yu’s mind and he suddenly exclaimed, “Ninerealm Holy Land!” Great Clan Elder’s expression did not change. Apart from the agitated look in his eyes, there was now also a bit of confusion. This made Qin Yu frown. Could he have guessed wrongly? However, the token’s aura and the changes in the snowy region told him that these two things were related. Could it be that after so much time had passed, the Sky Spirit Clan had lost some of their inheritance?

Thinking about this, Qin Yu extended his arm and placed his hand right in front of Great Clan Elder’s face. He asked, “Do you recognize this?” The Ninerealm Holy Land’s Saint Son Token rested in his palm as light rays floated around it.

Great Clan Elder looked at the token and started to kowtow repeatedly, “Our mighty ruler, please forgive me if I have offended you just now. Please punish me alone; do not drag the Sky Spirit Clan into this! My clan members have already waited for you in this cold world for too many years. You are the only hope for my Sky Spirit Clan to continue living!”

Dong –

Dong –

The icy ground trembled as it started to crack from Great Clan Elder’s forehead hitting it. In the next moment, fresh blood started to flow down his head, but it instantly froze!

Qin Yu waved his sleeve and said in a low voice, “Just answer my question. If you try to hide anything from me, I will leave in this instant.”

Great Clan Elder looked fearful as he repeatedly shook his head, “Your Honor, please ask away. I do not dare to hide anything from you at all. Our Sky Spirit Clan will do whatever you ask us to!”

Qin Yu raised the token and asked again, “Do you recognize this?”

Great Clan Elder nodded his head, “This is the ruler’s imprint. It exists in the Sky Spirit Clan’s records. Only our mighty ruler would be qualified to possess this and it represents absolute power and authority.”

Qin Yu kept the token and spoke internally, “Little blue lamp!”

“I can help you to check this person’s memories, but you must warn him in advance not to resist, otherwise he will die.”

“Hmph! You know that’s not what I wanted to ask…but since you are able to check his memories, then do it!” Qin Yu looked at Great Clan Elder and then said, “I am going to take a look into your memories now – please do not resist.”

“Yes, Your Honor!” Great Clan Elder replied respectfully, agreeing wholeheartedly to Qin Yu’s request.

Qin Yu raised his hand and placed it on Great Clan Elder’s forehead. The little blue lamp’s power quietly extended and penetrated into Great Clan Elder’s body. Very quickly, Qin Yu could see all of Great Clan Elder’s memories. Nothing was being omitted, and he could clearly verify this person’s identity and the Sky Spirit Clan’s current situation.

After a few moments, Qin Yu retracted his hand. He pondered for a while. This Great Clan Elder from the Sky Spirit Clan was evidently not lying. Of course, he would not easily trust this person just because he was able to access their memories. Changing one’s memories was quite difficult to do, but it was not impossible for someone who was powerful.

It was better to be careful and cautious!

Great Clan Elder was still kneeling on the ground. He respectfully greeted, “Your Honor, the Sky Spirit Clan is willing to kneel at your feet and become your most loyal soldiers. I just hope that you can save us as soon as possible, because there are people dying every day in this struggle to stay alive and fewer than a tenth of our newborns manage to survive.”

Qin Yu turned around and looked at Prison, who was being sealed by the ice. As the elves died, the extreme cold dissipated as well. Prison had managed to forcefully suppress the backlash that his body was facing. After a few moments, he would be able to regain his strength bit by bit to break the ice around him and escape. As Qin Yu’s gaze settled on him, Prison shuddered internally and a look of fear and anger formed on his face.

Whoosh –

Qin Yu’s figure appeared before Prison’s frozen body and he retrieved his Mountains and Rivers Sword. Under the light rays of the Great Sun Illusion, a gap appeared in the ice. The Mountains and Rivers Sword went straight into this gap, piercing Prison’s heart and coming out through his back. The moment the sword pierced his heart, it directly sliced his Great Dao as well, cutting off all of his vitality.

Boom –

The ice shattered as Qin Yu reached out to catch Prison. He told Great Clan Elder, “Wait here!” Then, he stepped out and directly disappeared.

Great Clan Elder felt uneasy inside and his face reddened slightly as he paced back and forth. There were a few times that he wanted to relay a message to his clan, but he decided against it in the end. Sky Spirit Clan had been on the verge of collapse a long time ago and his clan members were unable to take any more blows. However, Great Clan Elder was already very sure that Qin Yu was their new ruler. Yet, before they successfully reached the tent, Great Clan Elder did not dare to act rashly.

Time passed slowly, and just when an impatient look formed on Great Clan Elder’s face, the space suddenly distorted and Qin Yu walked out. Great Clan Elder did not know if he was mistaken, but even though nothing had happened to Qin Yu on the surface, from his divine sense, he could tell that Qin Yu’s aura had become even more imperceptible.

With a calm expression, Qin Yu said, “Let’s go back to your clan, I still need to confirm some things.”

“Yes, Your Honor!” Great Clan Elder replied agitatedly.

Great Clan Elder walked in front as he led the way. In order to prevent accidents from happening, Qin Yu decided that it would be better to waste more time and follow quietly behind Great Clan Elder. Whilst on this journey, Qin Yu used his divine sense to analyze his surroundings. In case anything felt wrong, he would be able to quickly react to it.

They continued to head south through the snowy region. Half a day later, in a huge valley sheltered from the frosty wind, Qin Yu could finally see where the Sky Spirit Clan was situated. There were pitched tents that were being buried in the snow. Their surfaces were completely frozen, except for the areas near the holes that were found only at the top of the tents that were slightly melted. Smoke was continuously billowing from these holes.

These Sky Spirit Clan members had been living in these tents ever since they were born. Their cultivation was probably rather good, otherwise they would have died just after taking a step out of the tent. The outside world was extremely cold, and it could easily kill them!

Qin Yu suddenly frowned. It was not because he detected something wrong. It was because Great Clan Elder, who was walking in front of him, had suddenly collapsed onto the ground. Suddenly, his skin had lost all of its color. It now looked gray and unhealthy.

“Great Clan Elder!”

A shocked and angry cry rang out in Qin Yu’s ears like a thunderclap as Ah Bu treaded heavily on the snow. Like a ferocious tiger, he rushed towards Qin Yu and he punched violently.

“Stop!” Great Clan Elder, who was on the floor, widened his eyes.

Swoosh –

The punch stopped an inch away from where Qin Yu stood and the wind that surged because of it caused his robes to be rustled. Qin Yu narrowed his eyes as he looked Ah Bu up and down, who was wrapped in thick animal skin. Because of how violent Ah Bu’s punch was, his muscles were all tensed and bulging, causing the animal skin he was wearing to be slightly torn. There were multiple rips in his clothes. At this moment, Ah Bu was panting heavily as he glared at Qin Yu with bloodshot eyes. He looked exactly like a ferocious tiger that was about to swallow someone whole!

Great Clan Elder struggled to stand up and there was anxiety in his face as he explained, “Your Honor, Ah Bu has misunderstood the situation. He did not mean to offend you; please be magnanimous and forgive him!” His current state was deteriorating greatly, like an oil lamp that was about to go out. He started to pant just from speaking slightly quicker.

“Great Clan Elder!” Ah Bu knelt on one knee and hugged Great Clan Elder. Seeing Great Clan Elder in such a condition brought tears to his eyes. Though he was such a big and mighty man, he was now crying like a baby.

Qin Yu frowned and stated, “You’re about to die.”

Great Clan Elder felt relief in his heart and he replied, “Your Honor, you’re right. I had already expected this to happen. I am content that I could see you before I died.” He grabbed onto Ah Bu and said, “Remember, this person is the person that our Sky Spirit Clan has been awaiting for generations. He will be the one to lead the Sky Spirit Clan out of its misery.”

Ah Bu’s eyes widened. He did not catch Great Clan Elder addressing Qin Yu as ‘Your Honor’, and now, there was disbelief all over his face.

With these last words, Great Clan Elder seemed to smile as he slowly closed his eyes. It was as if he had managed to complete the last thing on his mind.

“Great Clan Elder! Great Clan Elder!” Ah Bu called out desperately. He looked at Qin Yu, then he knelt on the ground with a loud ‘plop’ and started to kowtow repeatedly.

Bang –

Bang –

Every kowtow produced a bang that caused the ground to shake slightly!

“Our Great Clan Elder referred to you as our ruler. You must have a way to save him. I beg you, please save him, I beg you!”

Qin Yu frowned slightly. Great Clan Elder had truly held out until the very end and it must have been very difficult for him to do so.

“It’s not impossible,” The little blue lamp suddenly said.

Qin Yu asked, “Why are you interfering?”

The little blue lamp said, “I will answer every question that you have, but for now, let’s try to save him first. This will be an opportunity for you to get the Sky Spirit Clan to trust that you are their new ruler.”

Qin Yu took a deep breath and said, “Okay!” He stepped forward and reached out with his hands. Great Clan Elder, who was unconscious and on the verge of death, flew up and landed in Qin Yu’s arms.

Buzz –

A Great Sun Illusion appeared behind Qin Yu. The light rays that spilled out of this illusion covered the entire valley and even the snow beneath the tents, radiating endless warmth.

The tents opened one by one and the people from the Sky Spirit Clan walked out. Their eyes widened as they saw what was happening. As they stood before the Great Sun Illusion and looked at Qin Yu, who was giving off a majestic aura, they felt as if they were witnessing a scene where a deity had descended to this mortal world.
