Chapter 185 - 185 chapter 184
185 chapter 18Xia rushed over to Bao, who was holding his head and slouched on the couch. Holding the little fox close, he whispered, “Go cheer your father up.”
Little Sheng nodded. He jumped out of Xia’s hands and jubilantly ran over to his father. Unfortunately, his father Bao was too distracted thinking about something. “wooww oww,” he barked, biting into his father’s pant legs.
Felling something, Bao glanced down. The little fox pulled his pants with a funny look on his face. Wiping away his tears, he lifted his child with a small smile on his face. “Little Sheng, do you want to play with daddy?” He caressed his fur and in turn got licked.
“You should help change him back,” Xia injected softly from the side. He leaned over and took the little fox from his arms.
“But master, if I inject too much energy he will not be able to handle it...” Bao said with a frown. He was reluctant to do as master Xia said.
“You know that he fully capable of absorbing it. I felt his veins and meridians. They have been strengthened these three days. Change him now....” Xia frowned even more when he noticed the reluctant look Bao had. “Bao, he needs to be human..” he said in a stern voice.
“We can tell his mother about his identity...”
“You know we can’t. Why do you insist so?” Xia said, interrupting him. This was not the first time he had seen such a situation. When he was a thousand years old, he was playing in the forest in Nevada. By chance he witnessed a small rabbit demon being born in his human form. Since teh human beast was so different from his mother, he was abandoned. Xia was about to go pick him up, but the nearby villagers found him before he did. They raised him as their own.
But as the rabbit beast aged, he started showing signs of transforming. And one day he did. He became a huge rabbit and hopped around in town in confusion. The entire village was scared by this. They all picked up their rakes and knives and slaughtered him and made him into a stew. It was all caused by human fear. Humans feared things that were different from them, that’s why the beasts stay hidden until they form their human body.
.....
Just thinking about this red history made Xia shudder. “Sheng cannot tell his mother now..”
“Why?” Boa whispered quizzically.
“Because he is too young. Can you assure me that his mother will accept him? I know that she is kind but even still if she knew the truth will she treat him the same? Even if she did accept his identity, the truth will still instil a fear inside of her.”
“So you are insisting that Sheng to keep it a secret? Don’t be absurd, master? Look at him! he is a furry little fox. We can’t hide this forever.” Boa shouted aloud.

The little fox heard this and cowered in Xia’s arms.
“Bao, I’m not saying that this should be kept a secret forever, I’m just telling that this is Sheng’s secret. Only he has the right to share.” Xia calmly said, rocking the scared little fox in his arms.
“He is my child. As his father can I not make a decision?” Bao shouted. He gripped onto the roots of his hair and pulled anxiously.
Xia sighed. He placed the little fox down onto the ground and patted Boa’s shoulders “But Bao, does Sheng’s mother know that you are the father to her child?”
Bao shook his head with a dejected look.
“You are but a stranger to her. If you say this truth, she is going to think that you are crazy.” Xia whispered. Walking to the doorway, he threw him a last look. “I hope you won’t reveal the secret before its time.” He walking away, leaving behind a stunned demon boa and a trembling little fox in the room.
Bao glanced at his son. He gently picked him up and held him to his chest. Two days back he already knew....he knew that his son was able to withstand his energy now....but it was just his own selfishness that stopped him from helping his son transform. Bao just wanted to hold his son close as long as he can. “I’m sorry, Sheng. I—I’ll make you human now,” he whispered, injecting his spiritual energy into his son’s meridian. It flowed out and urged him to transform. Soon the little fox turned into a naked little kid. Bao caressed his soft hair and kissed his forehead. “Welcome back, son,”
Sheng Sheng gave him a small shy smile. “Hi daddy,”
Bao helped him wear his clothes and lifted him over to his mother’s room. Before opening it, he hesitated. ‘I can’t go in without any gift of apology….” He glanced down at Sheng and whispered, “What flower does your mother like?”
“ummm.....sunflower! She says that they make her happy,” Sheng said cheerfully.
Without any delay, he rushed over to his garden. It was the beginning of winter, so there were no sunflowers available. Dejectedly, he picked up some roses and went back to her room again.
Immediately Gillian glanced at Bao, and then her sight went to her little son. “Sheng! Baby!” she shouted, holding her hands out.
Sheng Sheng rushed over to her and jumped into her embrace. “Mommy!” he cried, borrowing his head in her bosom. “Mommy, are you still sick? Does it still hurt?” he whispered anxiously.
“Oh baby, I’m completely fine now. Look, there is not even a wound there,” she said cheerfully, showing him the back of her head. The wound had completely healed, leaving a bald spot behind. “But I’m bald,” she said with a pout.
Sheng chuckled out loud. He hugged her neck tightly and kissed her pale forehead. “You look beautiful however you look Becuz you are my mommy!” he exclaimed jumping happily on the bed.
Gillian laughed and pulled her kid down and hugged him to her embrace. “Little Sheng, I Love You so much..” she kissed his little forehead as well. Glancing at the man standing awkwardly next to her bed, Gillian smirked. “Thank you....thank you so much for taking care of this little brat. He should have been a handful. I’m sorry for that,”
Bao shook his head. “No, No, he was an angel,”
“Really?” Gillian raised a brow. She glanced at her little kid and ticked his little tummy. “Wow, this is the first time someone has praised you as an angel. By the way you act, Most will call you a little demon,”
As soon as she said this, both Boa and Sheng froze. They glanced at her with their eyes wide open.
Gillian was taken aback. She peered at them both and laughed out loud. “Oh my lord, did you see both your faces. It looked so identical,” she said jokingly.
Bo and Sheng let out a breath. “Yeah it though so too,” Bao chuckled dryly. “Oh here, these are for you,” he handed her the bouquet of roses.
“Thank you. They are so beautiful,” Gillian whispered in awe. She softly breathed in the heavenly scent of the roses and sighed. “Roses before winter always smell the best,” she mumbled.
“Yeah, I think so too,” Boa added with a small smirk. ‘Oh looks like she likes roses as well. I’m saved.’ He found the little kid sticking out his tongue at him and narrowed his eyes. “Do you like sunflowers?”
“NO, I prefer roses,” Gillian said with a questing look.
Bao threw the little brat a look and sighed. ‘This brat was played me ah,’ as he was having a staring contest with his son, his butler walked in with a bowl of porridge. Bao peered at his wooden reactions and sighed. ‘Looks like my plan did not work,’
On the other hand, the butler subtly glanced at the freshly cut roses. There was a weird feeling in his heart surging more and more as days passed by. He just wanted to grab his master’s collar and scream, {“do you love her? Don’t you love Master Xia now? Why did you change your mid?”} But on the outside he maintained an expressionless look.
For thousands of years, master Bao had been in love with his previous master, Demon Hong Lian. His butler knew of this, yet still he could not stop his heart from swaying towards the childish man. As time went on his feelings, brewed like fine wine and intensified. It became unbearable to the point that he just wanted to kiss him and hug him.
But...he was just a servant. He didn’t deserve the love of his master.
That’s what he had thought all these years and contained his overwhelming feelings. But ten years ago when he found his master naked in bed with a woman. He felt his heart break into million pieces. But still he held his feelings back.
Ten years later he found out his master had a son. This time he felt more alienated. He watched his master follow his son and that woman, gritting his teeth silently.
Now...watching his master sending roses to her...he finally lost hope. ‘Master never was in love with me. It was just a physical relationship after all... his heart was never mine to own.’
