Chapter 72: Man Against God
Chapter 72: Man Against God
When Sol arrived in front of the Star, it reminded him of the sun, it looks like a miniature of the red giant Star that the solar system centered upon.
Before Sol could think more about the familiar star, it started to shrink into another human form, Sol was not shocked anymore as the previous star had also shrunk into a human form.
He looked at the star's incarnation in confusion as he did not recognize the man, he was around 20s, he had red hair and golden eyes, his face was so eyes turning that even Sol was amazed by it.
The man was naked, his body was like a statue of adam, well-muscled but was not too bulky, Sol could sense strength from the man, it was beyond his understanding.
The man looked down on himself and inspected every part of himself, seeing that he was naked and unarmed, the incarnation conjured a set of golden armor and bow, on his back Sol could see a silver quiver full of bronze arrows.
It gave Sol a shock beyond belief as the incarnation clearly shows intelligence and it could actually conjure things in the imaginary realm like him.
As far as Sol knew, the incarnation of the star was an empty vessel that move by instinct and only he could conjure things, even his doppelganger could not conjure things.
"Is this because he was naked? Or because the star was bigger than its incarnation gain new ability?" he speculated.
Usually, the star's incarnation would attack him directly when they finished their transformation but the man before him was different, he clearly was not controlled by instinct.
Sol found the man familiar but he could not really remember where he had met him, one thing he knew was this man is was more dangerous than the doppelganger.

Sol got an armament hit him and his strength already at the point where he starts his journey from the city to protect the delegate, he was not sure if it was enough to fight the man in golden armor but he would try his best.
The presence he sensed from the man was suffocating, Sol felt like he was standing before a God, a mortal stanging before God could not do a thing.
He did his best to bury his fear as he had fight more than one impossible battle, fear was his constant companion, he always overcomes it and this time was no different.
"I don't care who you are, even if you are God himself I won't back down." Sol declares with determination at the man in front of him.
The man turned to Sol and looked down at him, Sol felt as if the man was a giant looking down on him even though they were almost as tall as each other.
"How bold and ignorant," the man said arrogantly while he shook his head, he even closed his eyes in front of Sol, he clearly didn't think of Sol as a threat.
Sol was too shocked to take his chance at his off guard opponent, Sol looked at the man wide-eyed as if he saw a ghost.
"He really talks! Who is this? I did not kill any other demigod than that Yeti," he muttered to himself.
"I'd better clean the bug first," the man said while he slowly reaches behind him toward the bronze arrow in the quiver.
Sol raised the handgun he had conjured before and shot at the man repeatedly while closing the distance.
The man did not dodge at all, he continues to move slowly as if he did not care about Sol's attack, he just raised his Golden bow and nocked his arrow on the bow.
Bullets met with the golden armor he wore did not leave any scar at the armor, it just got bounced away easily.
Some bullet connect where his body was not covered by the golden armor, it did connect and caused the man to fracture a bit but the fracture healed the next second.
Sol who was trying to get close hold his ground and stopped his advance as he was alarmed, in his previous fight, he never encounters an incarnation that could heal themselves, he looked wide-eyed at the man.
"Fuck?!" he cursed as the man's regeneration was anything but slow, he had a hard time against a doppelganger when it could not even heal, now his opponent was stronger and heal very fast, the prospect of winning was bleak.
The man pulled his bow slowly, Sol had ready himself to dodge, normally there was no way for him to get hit by the arrow.
As the arrow was pulled to the farthest the bow could handle, the man directly let it loose, the bronze arrow's flight was faster than he had expected but he was still fas enough to dodge it.
Sol already left his initial position by the time the arrow left the bow but to his surprise, he did not leave the arrow behind, it kept flying toward him.
"What the fuck? It's a homing arrow?" Sol cursed as he stopped dodging and start to raised his knife to block the arrow.
When the arrow about to reach him, Sol used his knife to cut at it diagonally, he encounters a heavy resistance but once he used all his strength, it finally got cut down and stoped flying toward him, it disappeared like it melt into the air.
Sol had looked at the arrow and he found it familiar, it was a replica of the arrow he just gave Minerva to teach him how to advance to be a Demigod.
He looked at the man in gold with horror, he finally remembers where he had met the man, it was at the temples near the city, he passed by his statue a few times when he was there.
"Fuck! It's Apollo!" Sol cursed out loud as he was too shocked, "didn't he died and his soul got dragged to the underworld? Why is he here?" he mused in his heart this time.
Sol had all his hair stand on ends at the recent revelation, he thought he would only need to beat a soul of a dead demigod but he unknowingly met a ghost of supposedly imprisoned Major God.
He had the urge to run away but he soon calms himself, "no, let's think about this calmly" he told himself.
"First, there is no news of Apollo's soul escape the underworld, even Mineva told me there was no problem and I would not need to worry about Apollo," he analyzed.
"Second, Minerva did not say anything when she met me, if she felt Apollo's presence in me then she would have done something."
"if she did not sense it before, she surely senses it now and should have done something to help me."
"Third, there is no way I could survive a single arrow from a real God, they could kill me with a single glare."
"That leaves me with one possibility, this incarnation most likely from an important shard of Apollo's divinity, it has enough importance that it has some of the God's personality"
"Its offensive ability was strong but not unbeatable, the problem is that unpenetrable armor and his lightning-fast regeneration, I would not able to last longer than him in a fight of endurance."
In the end, Sol decides to defend himself as best as he could and wait for a chance to do some lasting damage.
Sol needs to destroy the arrow before it touches him, from his observation it had the mythical ability of the real arrow even though it was conjured from nothing, it was weaker than the real thing but clearly had an ability.
If the arrow connected it would surely pierce through him, it would leave a big hole on his body, Sol did not know what else would happen when it happen but he was not keen to find out.
"I need to destroy every arrow and get closer" Sol decided his plan.
To his understanding, his knife had a big chance to leave lasting damage to the Sun God's incarnation as armament was known to be an effective weapon against those with shards.
The incarnation of Apollo pulled another arrow from his quiver and aimed at Sol, as before he let the arrow fly at him but this time, Sol did not try to dodge.
He knew it was useless to dodge, so Sol threw his knife at the fling arrow to slow it down and damage it, he already tried to recall it when he threw it.
Once the knife connected with its target, it reappears on Sol's arm the next moment, the arrow was slowed down a bit and already damaged when it reaches his range, Sol easily able to destroy it with a cut.
He was starting to become confident when the God's incarnation pulled three arrows from his quiver and nocked it on the Golden bow.
"Fuck! This is cheating!" Sol cursed in frustration.
