Chapter 220 Back to where it all began

220  Back to where it all began

The next morning Sylvia found herself flying in the air next to the brother she recently gotten acquainted with and Roman who tagged along without asking anyone. There were also a few other clansmen whom she was not familiar with.

Overall, the journey was quite uncomfortable as no one said anything but Sylvia did not care. She was also in no mood to talk. She was going back to face her past, the place that isolated her, betrayed her, humiliated her, and caged her.

The face of a familiar figure flashed past her mind as it did often even though she didn't want to allow it. Would he also still be here? Where was he right now? What was he doing? Her heart pounded silently.

It wasn't out of love but out of anger. She silently simmered in her thoughts and memories as the group swiftly traveled over the massive ocean.

After a while, Roman couldn't take it any longer and inched next to her. "What are you thinking about? Are you okay?"

Sylvia immediately snapped out of it and smiled, making the wolf falter a little. Her smile was quite dangerous. "Yes, I am fine. I was wondering how it is that we are able to cross the ocean so easily while the humans rarely do so."

"Oh that. Ha Ha Ha. It's because those humans are worthless idiots. This barrier was actually set up by our ancestors. Not because we are afraid of them, mind you. It's like having a mosquito net to prevent those pests from bothering us."

Despite Roman's best efforts to make the conversation lively, all he got in return was a nod from Slyvia. Only the other beasts turned to look at the rare scene in puzzlement.

The wolf clan Lord who rarely spoke was chatting away like there was no tomorrow. But everyone quickly turned back as Roman gave them a hard stare. Only Ezra had the guts to smirk back at him.

"I guess my little sister is quite famous." He mumbled under his breath as the group continued moving. Soon the vast ocean that sprawled endlessly underneath them came to an end and the lively shores of the ocean were visible.

However, the moment they entered the landmass, the entire group came to a screeching halt. Roman who was about to cast an invisibility spell over the whole group also stopped halfway. It looked like something like that was no longer necessary.

Everyone gaped at the unbelievable scene in front of them. Sylvia silently shivered. The land that she had once known to e so green, lush and vibrant was now nothing but a scorched wasteland.

The Kingdom, the Magic HighCouncil, the Noble cities, the towns, the villages, the markets, the forests, everything was gone. There was a desolate aura enveloping the whole place. everything reeked of death. It was all gone. The entire kingdom was destroyed.

"Let's go closer and take a look." Ezra and the others dove down to land on the scorched land. The group split up and searched everywhere but there wasn't a single soul alive. There were no signs of any settlements in the vicinity.

"Everything is gone. The demons have completely cleaned up. Let's leave. Otherwise, others might sniff us out." Ezra was the leader of the group and this mission so everyone nodded in agreement.

Without anything else left to do, the group that came to the other side of the ocean once again silently left the area, back through the barrier into the beast lands. Before the end of the day, they even reached the royal palace and everyone reported to the King.

Sylvia excused herself first and returned back to her chambers rather quickly. She still did not feel like talking to anyone. The whole day today she had raged inside, wanting to tear apart everyone who had wronged her.

But what she saw there... affected her.

Everything she knew was completely destroyed. Her home, her town, everything. Even the royal castle that she had so many memories of was nowhere to be seen. And that person... was he also dead?

Tears leaked out of her eyes as she thought about the person she missed the most at the moment. Eventually, she fell asleep just like that as she was mentally and physically exhausted from using magic throughout the day.

However, in her sleep, she saw the same ocean again. Only now it was filled with blood instead of crystal-clear sparkling water. Countless corpses floated on this ocean. People whom she knew, people whom she had lived with, everyone all dead and floating on the ocean.

And among them was the man she loved. His corpse stared her in the face.

Sylvia immediately woke up with a scream that reverberated through the entire royal palace. In a moment, both the leaders of the draconian family were standing in front of her. Frederick Akhekh and Cadmus Akhekh both looked at her in worry.

"Is anything wrong, pumpkin?" Grandpa Cadmus was the first to react as he sat beside the woman soaked full of sweat and patted her lovingly.

Sylvia shivered. The nightmare was too horrible. She let go of everything and hugged her Grandpa tightly. Just for once, she did not want to feel alone. "I had a bad dream." She mumbled.

"Ah, silly child." Cadmus chuckled and gently patted her. King Frederick also sighed in relief. The two of them lovingly looked at the girl. The King shortly left after that and Grandpa Cadmus also left a while later giving Sylvia some privacy.

"I am fine now." She awkwardly convinced them.

However, Sylvia did not go back to sleep. She walked over to the garden and sat under the moonlight, thinking about something that had disturbed her deeply. The unnecessary bloodshed and war, she wanted to stop this.

She shuddered at the thought of any race being massacred like that. Up until now, she did not have any foothold in her life, nothing that she wanted to live for and nothing that she wanted to fight for.

And for the first time today, she wanted this. She wanted this mindless war to stop. Wasn't she the daughter of the beast kingdom's strongest clan? "I can do this," Sylvia mumbled under her breath. She was more sure of this than anything else in her entire life.

Perhaps this was why she was separated from her family. This was why she had to suffer so much. She understood the pain and joy of both sides and at the core, they were not that different. So why can't there be peace?

The idea took root strongly in her mind and she was determined to give it her all.
