Chapter 225 Demons

Chapter 225  Demons

The air turned thick with the scent of brimstone and ash, a sure sign that the demonic presence was not just a small raiding party but an organized assault.

The demons, with their twisted forms and malevolent auras, seemed to emerge from the shadows themselves, flooding into the palace grounds with terrifying speed and coordination.

Roman's grip on Sylvia's hand tightened for a moment before he released her, stepping forward to place himself between the princess and the oncoming horde. "Get back to your room and bar the door. Use your magic if you need to. I'll hold them off here." Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Sylvia shook her head, her expression determined. "I will not leave you to face them alone." Her hands began to glow with potent energy, ready to unleash her own formidable powers against the invaders.

Roman wanted to argue, to demand that she seek safety, but he knew it was futile. Sylvia was not one to flee from a fight, especially when their lives and the peace she had worked so hard to achieve were threatened.

Together, they faced the onslaught, Roman's sword flashing in the moonlight as Sylvia's spells arced through the air, striking demons with deadly precision. Despite their efforts, the demons kept coming, a seemingly endless tide of darkness.

After a while Roman couldn't hold on anymore and became extremely tired. He did not come here prepared for a war of this proportions. However, the woman standing next to him was still going strong.

True to her draconian name, Sylvia was single-handedly putting all the demons to shame. She was like a shining star in the darkness, slaughtering demons in droves. The more she fought, the more powerful she became.

The might of a proud dragon was put on display for everyone to see. But all of a sudden Roman's eyes widened. His gut feeling was warning him of something. Something big was going to happen.

He immediately got back on his feet ending his temporary recuperation. He had enough juice in him now and he was more than ready for whatever was about to come.

Barely 2 seconds passed by after he stood up when a vile aura spread across the space. The aura was so powerful and suffocating that even he found it difficult to breathe.

Sylvia also snapped her head to look in that direction as she too sensed the aura. "What the..." Before she could finish her words, a tear appeared in the space in front of them and something black and slimy slipped out.

"That's a..." Roman stood frozen. "That's not a demon."

Demons he knew. Demons he understood. They were horned beings who held cursed power. The lycan lord had been fighting demons all his life. But this creature...

It was a being of pure darkness and malice as if it was born from the very essence of the abyss. Unlike the demons they had been fighting, this entity was an amalgamation of all that was foul and corrupt.

Sylvia's eyes narrowed. The creature oozed closer, its form constantly shifting and pulsing with dark energy. Sylvia and Roman braced themselves, knowing that this would be a battle unlike any they had faced.

With a roar that echoed like thunder, the creature attacked, unleashing waves of dark, corrupt, and vile energy that threatened to overwhelm them and corrode their souls.

Sylvia countered with her most powerful spells, beams of pure, radiant energy that pierced the darkness. Roman charged, his sword glowing with an ethereal light, every strike aimed with precision to weaken the creature.

Despite their efforts, the void spawn seemed nearly invulnerable, regenerating from every wound inflicted upon it.

"Sylvia, combine your magic with my strike!" Roman shouted over the din of battle.

Understanding his plan, Sylvia nodded. They had to synchronize their attacks, blending the raw power of her draconian magic with that of the Lycan powers.

Timing their moves with perfect precision, Roman launched himself at the creature, his sword trailing a blinding light, while Sylvia unleashed a torrent of dragon fire, infused with her strongest spells.

The two forces collided with the creature in a cataclysmic explosion of light and shadow.

The ground trembled under their feet, the air crackled with unleashed power, and for a moment, the night turned to day. But when the light faded...

Slither. Slither.

The creature was still there.

Panting, Sylvia looked at Roman. The color drained from her face since she had used a lot of her power. This was the first time she had pushed herself this far and it was not enough. She really did not have the strength for another attack.

What the hell was happening?

Ambushed by demons she could understand but what was this creature?

"Can you give me two minutes?" She panted as she started preparing something. This was a spell she had read about in one of the magic tomes back in the draconian palace.

It was dangerous, it had a backlash effect that could leave a person crippled but it would give her enough power to scorch an entire continent. If anything was going to work, it was that.

Roman gritted his teeth. He too had no idea what the hell was happening. He was usually calm and collected but everything had happened too suddenly and he had no control over it all.

He looked at the woman standing beside him. So frail and feeble and yet there was a magnificence about her. He felt a pang of guilt pinch him in his core as he was the one who was supposed to protect her and not the other way around.

In a decisive motion, he bit his lips and drew some blood to enter a berserk state. This would leave him severely weakened and vulnerable but it would definitely buy the time she needed.

Thankfully, Sylvia did not need long. The next second she started to glow with an ethereal light. Something about her radiated an ancient power but she did not look good.

Her face was pale and her lips and eyes were bleeding. She swayed like a flickering flame about to go out at any time now.

Only now Roman realized that he had been wrong. He was wrong to trust her words and buy time. He was wrong to even stay back and fight in the first place. They should have run away the minute things turned south.

This was the enemy's domain and it was clear they had already made ample preparations. He even felt weaker than his normal self. This was all a big mistake.

"Sylvia. Stop." He reached out to grab her but it was already too late. Fear gripped Roman's heart. No. He did not want to lose her and yet he was helpless when something terrible was going to happen to her.

Right at this time when everything was about to combust into one big supernova, a light chuckle sounded, followed by a strange voice. "My dear. You can stop now. I have taken care of everything."

More shocking was the fact that Sylvia seemed to have somehow responded to the voice and stopped in her tracks, now staring dumbfoundedly into the darkness.
