Solo Player Arvin

Chapter 103 - -17<Name Is Bakemono-2>

War is a horror that no one should face. It is that kind of horror that gives nightmares to the people that were ever involved in it. The blood, the carnage that it brings with it so brutal that not everyone could face.

For a spectator like Arvin, war was an exciting piece of entertainment. Arvin flew and covered the whole rocky mountain region. He saw the preparation that these fennec foxes were doing while he also saw what preparation the other two armies were doing. And seeing those preparations Arvin felt very excited. He had never seen war from the front row, but now destiny is giving him a chance.

Arvin noticed that the scouts on top of the rocky mountains constantly tried to send signals to both armies. And yet to reply came from both the armies. It meant that these armies were not here to negotiate. They are to kill or to be killed. Seeing neither of the armies cooperating with Fennec foxes confused Arvin.

He could see that both armies were waving different flags. That meant that these armies were from different factions. But why were they bullying fennec foxes? That was a million-dollar question. Logically if two factions act together then they host a flag of friendship or something showing that they are together. Or if they act together by the influence of someone far more superior than they host the flag of that superior person. But these armies weren't hosting any similar flag.

Could this imply that they weren't friends? Could this imply that they were working for a superior organization that didn't want its name to be shown here? Or was Arvin just overthinking this?

Whatever it may be, Arvin didn't care about it. For him the main concern was what profit could this war bring to him and how could he make sure that he gets enough profit from this war? Therefore after surveying all three armies, Arvin started his investigation. He needed to know what was going on in the respected command centers of every respective army. Then he would see what could be done.

Arvin first started with the army in the north. The army in the north was too familiar to Arvin. All the soldiers of this army were wearing white color clothes and grey armor like the people that Arvin killed when he came to the second floor. They were the ones that were guarding the obelisk of the second floor.

Arvin was no expert from what he could estimate he could tell that including all the personnel there were around 1000 men in this army. They also had brought with them 5 ballistas. The ballista is the large catapult that was used in ancient warfare back on earth. They use large stones and throw them at their targets. It was one of the greatest sieging weapons developed by humans back on earth. It had proved very helpful in breaking huge stone walls that surrounded the cities.

From what Arvin could tell, the rocky mountains that these foxes lived in were a great place to live. It hides them from sunlight plus the stones of the mountains were not that strong, to begin with. That made it easier for foxes to hollow the mountains and start living inside them. But this was also a disadvantage for them. Because due to the low strength of the stone of the mountains if both the armies started using their ballista's then could essentially bury the whole city under rocks.

They could kill all the inhabitants of the city without even losing a single man in the process. So get to understand what were the armies thinking, Arvin sneaked into the army encampment of the north.

Arvin transformed into a fly and got in the encampment. He went from tent to tent to see all the things that this army had brought with it. He was essentially making a list of things that he could steal at a later date. But Arvin was not impressed by the stock this army had brought. So he ignored the things and started finding the command center of the army.

After romancing from tent to tent, Arvin finally found the command center. The command center was not a big tent. It was a small tent that could be occupied by 10 men at a time. But it was guarded by 20 men. Inside the command center, there was a huge round table around which 7 chairs were kept equidistant from each other. Right now there was no one in the center. So Arvin was free to look around.

On the table, there was a huge map. That map depicted the whole rocky mountain range. There were some figures on the map that depicted different aspects of all the armies. There was information about the scouts of the fox people, where they were posted, and such. Other than that there was no information about the city on that map. There was also information about the army in the south and their formations.

'This can't be real…' Arvin mumbled.

Based on the map Arvin could tell that the rocky mountain region was big. And the ten ballista's of both armies won't be enough to destroy the whole city. With ballista, they could indeed be able to destroy the whole city. But even after that, there will be enough blind spots where people could remain safe.

Arvin had never seen any ballista work before. So he could not tell how powerful those ballista were. So he was not able to predict the amount of damage these armies would be able to do…

There were a lot of factors that Arvin needed to look at. But as Arvin was thinking, he sudden thought came to his mind…

'The supplies… The supplies that these people brought with them seemed to be inadequate.' Arvin mumbled.

He had been through all the tents there were in this encampment. He had seen the supplies that these people have brought. The food, the water, and most importantly the big spherical rocks that would be thrown by the ballistas. They were very little in number. If they really want to siege the fox city then would need a large number of supplies to destroy the city. But it seems that they do not possess such a large number of supplies.

These little amount of things were good enough to scare the fox people. But to bury them deep under the rocks, they would need a much larger number of resources…

Arvin then went straight to the other army camp in the south. He went to all the tents and saw their supplies. In that camp he saw the same problem, the number of supplies they had was very limited. Which made Arvin question the first results of his finding… Are they really here to kill all the foxes? Because with the supplies that both these armies had brought with telling him otherwise. And if this is just a scare tactic then what is their real motive? They are not replying to signals that the people of fox city are sending them. What does this all mean?

In the second camp, Arvin then went to the command center of the army. He wanted to see what these guys were planning. As Arvin went inside the command center as a fly that he was not alone there…

The exterior of this command center was the same as the first one. A table was set up in the middle of the tent with figures depicting the position of the other army and the position of the scouts of the fox city.

In the main chair, a middle-aged man wearing blue color robes was sitting. And by his side, another middle-aged man was standing. The man who was standing was wearing the same clothes as the army…

"Is everything in position?" The man sitting on a chair asked.

"Yes sire, everything has been done as you told us to do." The man who was standing replied.

"Good Good… The Aurora clan repay the favor by Hari and Shabari clan." The man sitting on the chair said.

"Of course sir… ah…" The man who was standing said. He wanted to say something more but he refrained from doing so.

"What is it? Something troubling you?" the man who was sitting asked.

"Sir… I had a question… Well, we humans and Fennec Foxes have been in peace for a very long time now. But sieging Nekota city would disrupt the peace between the two races. So why is the great and strong Aurora Clan doing something so extreme? Won't it face retaliation from all the sides after this?" the man who was standing asked.

"My old friend, I have known for a very long time. So I will spare you this time. But never question the intentions of the Aurora clan again. Do you understand?"

"Yes sir."

"And as far your question is concerned, the Aurora clan would not care about retaliation from other groups after we have the red jewel that Stuart Summerfell posses." The man sitting on the chair said.
