Chapter 33 33 - The Devilish Prodigy

Nestled within the lush and verdant forest, there stood a dilapidated temple, its walls and roof showing signs of decay and neglect. The stillness of the area was suddenly disrupted as the temple trembled, causing the surrounding wildlife to stir and scurry.

From within the temple, a forlorn sigh echoed, a sound that was both melancholic and sorrowful. The sigh seemed to come from the very depths of the temple, and for a moment, the surrounding area was blanketed in silence, as if the very forest itself was listening intently to the source of the sigh.

Amidst the rolling waves of the Boundless Ocean, a colossal Whale could be seen gliding gracefully through the water. Its sheer size was comparable to that of an entire continent, and numerous mystic symbols danced around it like fireflies. This magnificent creature was a Qi Beast, an animal that had, through enigmatic means, acquired Qi and reached Ascension, becoming a being capable of harnessing and manipulating the Qi of Heaven and Earth. At present, the Qi Beast was swimming leisurely, yet all of a sudden, it ceased its movement, and a low, ancient voice escaped its lips as if it were muttering to itself.

"The time has come... and it won't be too long before they too wake up..."

In the ethereal realm of the starry sky, one of the twelve Xuanwu turtles, guardians of the Heavenly Blockade river, slowly opened its ancient, amphibian eyes. Its gaze, which was like a beam of light piercing through the boundless void, gazed upon a distant figure, a person who would soon come to play a pivotal role in the fate of the Divine Star Continent. With a deep sigh, the Xuanwu turtle closed its eyes once more, returning to its eternal slumber. But deep down, the turtle knew that the time was near, the time for the ancient slumbering powers to awaken and the balance of the world to be shifted once more.

Throughout the vast expanse of the Qi World, strange happenings began to unfold, appearing all over the continents at the same exact moment. Although most people remained unaware, a select few were attuned to the fluctuations in the spiritual energy, sensing something ominous on the horizon. With each passing second, the frequency of these unusual events increased, as if a grand, unseen force was stirring. And then, as suddenly as they had begun, the occurrences came to an abrupt halt. A deafening silence descended upon the Qi World, leaving the few who had noticed the events to wonder, what had just taken place?

Days passed and suddenly, without any warning, ten mysterious figures clad in black robes descended upon the Green Lotus City. Their formidable, savage auras seemed to ripple across the land, sending shivers down the spines of all who dared to gaze upon them. To everyone's surprise, the figures did not attack immediately upon arrival, but instead, they expertly arranged themselves into battle formations, each one poised and ready for any command. The city was shrouded in an eerie silence, as the residents waited in fearful anticipation of the unknown threat that had descended upon them.

The guards on the city walls, despite their bravery and unwavering devotion to their duty, knew that they were no match for the powerful Qi cultivators standing before them. With solemn expressions, they retreated to safety, leaving the city's experts to face the threat. The Green Lotus City, himself a powerful cultivator, couldn't help but feel a twinge of apprehension as he gazed upon the imposing figures. Their auras were nothing short of devastating, radiating a potent, malevolent energy that threatened to engulf all in their path. The city braced itself for what was to come, for there was no telling what the black-robed figures had in store for them.

Despite facing only a small number of opponents, each of these ten individuals possessed the power equivalent to a hundred-man army. In fact, if any of them were pitted against such a force, they would emerge victorious with ease. Their might was unmatched by mere mortals, and their mere presence instilled fear in their enemies. However, if the situation proved too dangerous, they possessed the ability to retreat with unparalleled swiftness, ensuring their escape and preserving their strength for another day. This was the hallmark of Qi Cultivators, and the reason why they struck terror in the hearts of their foes. Against mere mortals, they were truly unstoppable, and only other Qi Cultivators had the potential to challenge their power.

A palpable sense of dread descended upon Green Lotus City, enveloping it like a heavy shroud. Long Gen gazed out the window, his eyes fixed upon the familiar streets of the city, now bereft of their former liveliness. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness, realizing that this was likely to be his final farewell to this once-beautiful place. For Green Lotus City was doomed, its very existence threatened by the wrath of the Immortal Devil Sect.

"This is the consequence you all must face for inciting the wrath of the Immortal Devil Sect," Long Gen muttered, his voice heavy with sorrow.

Long Gen took a deep breath and made his way towards Ximen Wei's chamber. As he opened the door, he saw Ximen Wei sitting in a cross-legged position, his gaze fixed upon the pages of a new Qi Condensation Manual. Upon noticing Long Gen's presence, Ximen Wei opened his eyes, and for a moment, they flickered with a sinister light before returning to their normal, deep black hue.

The cultivation of this new Earth Grade Qi Condensation Manual had already had a profound effect on Ximen Wei, despite only practicing it for a few days. Though he remained at the first level of Qi Trainee, his grasp on the natural Qi of heaven and earth had improved dramatically. He could now store an impressive amount of Qi within his six Extraordinary Meridians, and his newly acquired Qi Techniques were a testament to his growing mastery.
