Spotted By Grindelwald And Went To Hogwarts

Chapter 48: “Hatching The Winged Demon”

Chapter 48: “Hatching The Winged Demon”

“Yes, Professor. It’s like this but with those bloodlines.” Sean said with certainty.

Newt nodded in surprise, looking very interested in the eggs Sean described.

“Can you tell me where you saw that egg?”

“Forbidden Forest. I saw something with a fur run past holding that egg.” Sean said without changing his face.

“Forbidden Forest, Furry things.”

Newt leaned against the desk and didn’t even notice the Bowtruckle jump from Sean’s body to his hand. He thought for a while. Just before the Bowtruckle was about to pull the button on his hand, Newt stood up straight.

He gave Sean a smile, “Wallup, thank you for telling me this. I think it might be a mutated egg. This excites me a bit, maybe Winged Demon has a new form, and I’ll have to look for it.”

Sean glanced at the Bowtruckle that was dangling on Newt’s hand and asked curiously, “Sir, I only saw very little information about it in your book. Is this magical animal very rare?”

“Yes,” Newt nodded, and he continued, “This kind of animal is very rare. I have only seen a few over the years. There is no way to confirm them directly since they are good at hiding. Even if you’re lucky enough to spot one, this creature has ridiculous magic resistance, making it difficult for you to catch them.”

“So that’s how it is,” Sean nodded thoughtfully, then asked, “What would that furry creature do with the egg? Is it going to eat that egg, or is there any other reason?”

“Good question, if the ‘egg thief’ is a friendly creature, like a Demiguise. It will protect the egg wholly. If it’s a hostile one, it might just eat the egg as any normal animal would do.”

Newt spread his hands, “But the Winged Demon’s egg is very hard, much harder than a dragon’s egg.”

“Then, if there is an egg of it, how will it hatch? If the egg has no parents, how will the animal come out?”

Newt smiled, “Then you’re asking the right person.”

He took the book and quickly flipped through it a few times, then pointed to a picture for Sean to see. In the picture, an egg is suspended mid-air, and a flame constantly burns below.

“The Winged Demon will grow in the egg for a long time, and when it is close to hatching, the egg will shake by itself. Unlike other creatures, the flame is not to heat up but to peel off the shell to reveal the cocoon inside. The time depends on the intensity of the flame, but it must be a magical flame. I hatched one before, and I forgot how many flame spells I used, and it took almost three full days to do it.”

A happy smile appeared on Newt’s face. Obviously, he liked that memory very much.

“That’s amazing.” Sean sighed in admiration.

Then, he showed a curious expression, “Professor Scamander, I heard that the Winged Demons feed on human brains. Is this true?”

Newt’s expression became a lot more serious, “Yes, that’s right. To be precise, it likes all kinds of brains. But compared to other creatures, the human brain is more suitable for its appetite. Perhaps because the taste of the human brain is more complex? I can’t confirm that.”

“Then how do you take care of them back then?”

Newt smiled slightly, “As long as you have established a friendship with it, you can fulfill its appetite with sheep’s brain, and it will take a long time for the Winged Demon to be hungry again after that.”

He knows a lot about magical beasts, and in the movie, he is extremely talkative about animals, which has taught Sean a lot of information about the egg.

“Professor, thank you very much. I learned a lot today. My only regret is that I couldn’t take your classes. It’s a shame.” Sean sighed. He was really interested in taking Newt’s class.

Newt is not good at communication, but he can easily judge that the student in front of him is also interested in magical beasts. Most importantly, Pickett or the Bowtruckle told him that this student made him feel so good that he even wanted to play with him more.

Sean looked at Newt with a smile. The old man seemed to have always maintained his way of life and his attitude toward people and animals.

Newt said, “If you want, you can come to me on Sunday. Maybe I can show you something interesting.”

Sean immediately smiled, “Of course, Professor. I’m honored.”

After an appointment was made, Sean patted his chest politely and said goodbye to Newt. When the office door was closed, Newt held down Pickett, who was still pulling on his hand.

“What an interesting student.” He said with a smile.

Sean was a little excited when he returned to the common room. He finally found a way to hatch the Winged Demon, but he tried to rush for it.

According to Newt, the process of hatching the Winged Demon may take a long time. Sean is quite confident in his Protego Diabolica, but it must be done for a long time.

Finally, after a week passed. The students once again ushered in the weekend. Sean woke up early on Saturday morning.

He swallowed the sausage he brought back last night as breakfast, met Peeves, who was pranking him, and finally came to the seventh floor. Standing on the stone wall again, Sean closed his eyes.

“I need a place to practice my spell.”

After repeating it three times, the wooden door of the Room of Requirement appeared in front of him.

Sean pushed open the door, went in, and saw an empty room. There was nothing that could burn in it. There were only a few dummies on the innermost side. Sean nodded with satisfaction and then took out the egg of the Winged Demon.

The egg was still shaking slightly, and Sean put his hand on it and felt the faint connection.

“It’s time to come out, little guy.”

Sean rubbed his hands and stretched out his wand, “Protego Diabolica!”

The blue flames rose, and Sean carefully leaned over the egg of the Winged Demon.
