Star Citizen Online: Isekai Edition

Chapter 44: The Way of the Sword

Time was passing rather fast since Arcturus returned back to the Starfort Lycurgos.

Since he returned back from a mission, he paid all of the debts that he owed to the Starlight Drive Yard Industries and was spending Universal Credits like crazy, a lot of them was invested into the Obscurus to finish the starship.

Unfortunately, though, Obscurus was designed to be a proper Type 3 starship right from the start when he created it in Star Citizen Online. It would require a lot of Universal Credits to finish the damn thing. This was barely enough to expand some of the facilities and continue producing more Battle Droids.

That was something that Arcturus wanted to continue because the Battle Droids would be crucial for more missions from the Star Mercenary Association and Bounty Hunter Guide, as he refused to cooperate with the other people.

And as he wanted to be solo in his career, mostly because he couldn't really trust other Bounty Hunters and Star Mercenaries and other people that were in this business, the machines were the only solutions to his problem.

His plan was to create a proper mini-army so he could take the Missions and Bounties that were typically reserved for large Bounty Hunter Groups or Mercenary Parties, something that wasn't really possible for him right now, but with a large army of the Battle Droids, it would be.

For the time being, he stopped his plans to buy the Gene Enhancement Serum for his further evolution due to the advice of the Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir. He started training at the Dojo, which belonged to Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir, who was teaching him swordsmanship.

Under Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir's tutorship, his swordsmanship skills improved drastically. Even Grandmaster Byrmellir was surprised by his rate of improvement to a degree, so he offered to teach him a peculiar style instead of basic swordsmanship.

Training under someone was a whole new experience, and Arctruus was taking everything like a sponge, with his basic swordsmanship already nearing the peak of the Master Level because he was taking everything at tremendous speed.

Not to mention, he seemed to have a very strong affinity for swordsmanship; even Grandmaster Byrmellir was astounded that he was advancing so fast and almost reaching the peak of the Master Level.

Even for him, reaching a peak of the Master Level 10 of Basic Swordsmanship took decades because the Basics were easy to grasp but tremendously hard to master. Not to mention, there were not many who would be practicing the Basics to the extremes, but those who did often reached really frightening heights of mastery over the ways of the sword.

Arcturus had been swinging his sword almost non-stop for the past few days, training for the inevitable invasion of the Mind Flayers that he was already aware of. When he started training in the Dojo under Grandmaster Byrmellir, the elderly Asuryani Highborne informed him of this fact only a few days after he started training there.

Even though Grandmaster Byrmellir wasn't very pleased about this, he understood the opportunities that the invasion of the Mind Flayers and the Orks represented for Arcturus, as he could obtain high rewards and merits during that.

As he sat cross-legged in the empty Dojo, he suddenly had an epiphany when he reached the last step, which was separating him from the Level 10 Master Level of Proficiency of Basic Swordsmanship.

This was the final realm in any skill that one could reach, before the so-called fabled Grandmaster Level of mastery. Even within the humongous Eternal Imperium of Asuryani, there was only a handful number of Grandmasters, and each one of them was considered a venerable person.

Arcturus observed the statistics of the Star Citizen Online System, especially the Sardau Star Sword, which was the reward he obtained for defeating the Ork Boss during the Single Combat; this was the first sword style that was personalized for his needs.

[Sardau Star Sword

Description: Sword Style developed by the Sardau Clan from the Planet Al-Sard was created through centuries of accumulation of experiences gathered by the Sardau Clan. The entire Planet Al-Sard is an enormous battlefield, filled with only carnage and war.

The Sardau Star Sword is specifically tailored for killing; it saves the movement as much as possible, and every single movement is designed to kill.]

The Sardau Star Sword was specifically tailored to kill in the lowest number of moves; everything was designed to kill. The movements were easy at first glance; there was nothing complicated about them, but they were extremely hard to execute properly.

The Sardau Star Sword depended on fast and heavy hits that were precisely aimed at the vitals of the enemy. The aim of the Sardau Star Sword was to kill the enemy in one or maximally two hits.

He hasn't really started practicing the Sardau Star Sword yet, though he already has all of the memories from all katas of the Sardau Star Sword in his memories. Even though the Sardau Star Sword seemed easy because it consisted of rather simple movements, according to what he found on the Extranet, it was considered one of the hardest Sword Styles to master.

Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir was observing the progress of his pseudo-pupil, with a weird sense of satisfaction, because he knew that there was now huge space for future accomplishments.

'Even before he mastered any particular sword style, he already mastered the basics to the utmost limits... he should master the different sword styles with relative ease...'

Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir thought in his mind when he noticed that Arcturus had stopped training and he called Arcturus to him. During his long life, he only had a few disciples, but all of them showcased staggering talent and subsequently reached realms of power no less than his own.

Nowadays, from three of them, only one lives, as the other two were killed in the endless conflicts and wars in the known universe. One of his three disciples perished in the war against the Veren Republic, where he fought to the death against one of the top powerhouses of the Tevarians.

And his youngest disciple perished in the incursion of the Arachnid Swarm thirty years ago.

Now, from the original trinity, only one of them survived.

The current Lord Padishah-Marshall of the Eternal Imperial of the Asurya.
