It was cold.

Lu Chen’s mind and soul was consumed by an endless cold.

The cold didn’t come from outside but within his very own body, as if an ice storm was raging inside of him, constantly freezing him from the inside.

Other than the cold, there were also cries of agony resounding inside Lu Chen’s mind.

These cries were driving him crazy. Lu Chen only felt a throbbing pain in his head, making him want to bang his head against the walls.

Sadly, the cold rendered his body completely immobile.

The only thing he could do was lie painfully on his bed and brace himself.

Damn it, what the heck is happening. If this goes on, I’ll die!

As a modern youth of the 21st century, Lu Chen was dumbfounded by his condition. He didn’t know why he was experiencing this kind of torment.

Did I fall sick? But I’ve never heard of a disease with these kind of symptoms!

However, even when he had no idea what was happening, Lu Chen still understood that if his condition persisted, he would definitely die soon.

That said, although he saw his end coming, the coldness in his body and the cries in his head stopped Lu Chen from doing anything to help himself. Heck, he couldn’t even move his fingers.

Not only that, but over time, he was slowly losing his ability to think.

Just when Lu Chen thought he was reaching his end, he felt someone approaching the side of his bed and speaking a strange language.

The pronunciation was strange, the words were simple, and the language seemed crude and unrefined. But Lu Chen somehow understood it all.

“Wu, Ah’Chen… condition…!”

“Not good, later… I will give… medicine… survive… up to him…”

“May the ancestor bless him!”

“Wu, the village perimeter… More and more… If this goes on, we will not last any longer.”

“Sigh!”

They didn’t converse much, but their words were filled with worry. However, Lu Chen didn’t have the extra energy to care so much anymore. His own condition was far more pressing in his mind.

Just not long after the conversation, a dry finger pried open Lu Chen’s lips and poured a bowl of weird-tasting hot soup into his mouth.

The hot soup didn’t taste bad, it just tasted weird.

The hot soup was poured into his mouth, through his throat, and finally into his stomach. Then, a warm sensation started to rise in him, slowly flowing into every corner of Lu Chen’s body.

With the help of the hot soup, the cold that Lu Chen was feeling started to subside a little bit.

And with the improvement in his condition, the cries in Lu Chen’s mind also started to fade away.

Just like that, the warm sensation from the hot soup continued flowing into every corner of Lu Chen’s body, helping him combat the lingering cold.

As the cold continued to dissipate, the cries in Lu Chen’s mind became softer.

Finally, the coldness in Lu Chen’s body was cleared away before the last stream of the warmth from the hot soup was neutralized, and with that, the cries in his mind finally stopped.

After some time, when everything was stabilized, a cold, robotic voice abruptly blared inside of Lu Chen’s mind.

But Lu Chen didn’t have the energy to look into the matter anymore.

The war between the hot stream and coldness, and the cacophony of the mad cries in his mind… it all took a huge toll on him.

Once all of it passed, Lu Chen fell into a deep sleep right almost immediately.

That night, he certainly didn’t sleep well. To the others, they could clearly see that Lu Chen was randomly waving his hands in the air and twitching his body like he was stuck in a terrible nightmare.

The truth was that Lu Chen was really having a dream. But it was really hard to tell whether if it was a bad one.

In the dream, Lu Chen had turned from a modern youth of the 21st century into a young man of a barbarian tribe—Chen.

In the dream, Lu Chen lived and experienced the 15 years of Chen’s life as well as the horrible scene that Chen last saw!

Lu Chen slept through the whole night, only waking up the on second day when the sun was high up in the middle of the sky.

After he woke up, Lu Chen sat for a long time on his bed before coming back to his senses.

From the memories, I’ve transmigrated from Earth to this barbarian tribe. But, this world, it’s not a normal world.

To be honest, transmigrating to the barbarian tribe didn’t really put Lu Chen out of sorts at all.

Even though there were strange and miraculous powers in this world, Lu Chen still had the confidence that he could live a fairly decent life here with his 21st century knowledge and education.

But sadly, after acquiring the memories of the young barbarian, Chen, Lu Chen realized that this world was not as simple as he thought.

Lu Chen couldn’t forget Chen’s last memories. The young barbarian was patrolling the village when someone called his name and when he turned around, everything went dark.

What happened after was Lu Chen’s transmigration into Chen’s body, and all the sensations that he felt with it.

Such an eerie experience couldn’t help but scare Lu Chen.

Someone called his name, he turned around to look and just died like that. This doesn’t sound like a barbaric world at all. Shouldn’t the theme of a barbaric world be the battle of humans and nature, to fight for survival in a world filled with wild savage beasts? Why does this barbaric world feel like a supernatural world instead?

Furthermore, other than what happened to me, the chief and Wu have been warning us not to go out at night. This world, it doesn’t feel right at all!

The transmigrator Lu Chen was filled with concerns over the kind of world he was in. But soon, he stopped thinking about it as the growls in his stomach reminded him of a more pressing issue.

I’m so hungry. Whatever, we’ll see what this world really is about some other day. Now, it’s time to eat.

He struggled to get up from his bed and purely from Chen’s memories that he had just acquired, he searched his room. After a few moments, he found a piece of smoked meat and started eating it.

It didn’t take long for Lu Chen to finish half of it. Only after that did his hunger subside.

Then, he looked at the remaining half piece of meat he had and let out a wry smile.

How unlucky, this barbarian youth… No, he is me now. I am an orphan in this world. And this is the last piece of food I had in the house. Now, I have to find a way to get more food.

Sigh, this is just like starting a new game in Hell Mode!

A strange world, an orphan, and insufficient food; all of these couldn’t stop reminding Lu Chen of what a terrible situation he was in.

Just when Lu Chen was in distress, a frigid, robotic, and yet familiar voice abruptly appeared in his mind.

The voice was robotic, frigid without any emotions, but Lu Chen was extremely familiar with it. Be it in the world he had come from or in this world, he had heard of it before.

This voice… It was the stupid mobile game I was making before the transmigration! It transmigrated here with me!

Wait, I remember hearing it as well when I came to this world. When did I hear it?

Soon, Lu Chen recalled hearing it after the coldness in his body was cleared by the hot soup. But he was too exhausted to pay any attention to it.

This is the sound of the system. I remember I can check the messages in the System Log!

As Lu Chen recalled, a virtual screen magically appeared in his mind. On the screen were written a few lines of familiar system messages.

After all, how could he not be familiar with them? He was the one who spent several nights creating the System Log and making the system messages.
