Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 41 Bloody Bar

What Zayn realized amidst the chaos was quite shocking, but it explained some of the many doubts he had from watching the bar fight unfold in front of him.

As a Normie, he didn't know that it was actually not possible to use the Stigma or unsheath their weapons in the Adventurer Inn without facing severe punishment by the system. That was something he didn't know, but he could make up a theory about this from watching the drunk Blessed instinctively reaching out to their sheathed weapons, just to stop midway.

No one used the Powers of their Blessings either, which was actually something Zayn had expected when dozens of Blessed faced each other while being under the influence of alcohol!

With the proper use of the system, it was possible to restrict the Power of all Blessed in the building. If they wanted to enter certain buildings, the Blessed wouldn't be allowed to use their Powers, or unsheathe their weapons, which the Blessed had to agree to beforehand via a system notification that they could accept or decline.

That function had been installed by the Innkeeper, who had researched for ways to prevent bar fights to turn into a bloodbath. He had had a bad experience previously which made him leave the city in which he and his wife lived before because too many incidents occurred in his bar. It took him years until he finally found out why other Inns hadn't had too many issues with bar fights.

Bar fights would occasionally break out every now and then but they didn't end up with the entire building turning into ruins and dozens of casualties. The Innkeeper copied the ideas of the other Inns and implemented them in a small town where he wanted to live a peaceful life.

However, there was one thing the Innkeeper had completely forgotten about…it was necessary to possess a system for it to be able to restrict you!

In order to restrict someone's usage of Power and to make sure that they wouldn't unsheathe their weapons, the punishment given by the System would have to be severe enough to prevent the Blessed from even considering using their powers.

Implementing that hadn't been easy and it took the Innkeeper quite a while to understand the reward and punishment logic behind the System. His knowledge was probably still far from enough but the result of his research was good enough for the time being.

But what would happen if you didn't even possess a System? It wouldn't restrict the Normie's power because a Normie didn't even possess a link to the System, to begin with.

That was how Zayn came to a realization using the few clues that were unveiled in front of him.

'Normies are not accepted by society…because you cannot restrict them with the System, not because no God was willing to give them their Blessing…'

Zayn's eyes widened in realization. He was still watching over the bloody bar fight that was in full swing less than ten meters away from him but his mind was in turmoil.

'Normies are despised by ordinary citizens who are oblivious to the truth, while the higher-ups are actually afraid of Normies…is that it?' He wondered while recalling the astonishment on everyone's faces as he unsheathed his shortsword in the middle of the Adventurer Hall.

Zayn had severed Phillip's hand at that time without any second thought or fear. There hadn't been the need for him to be afraid of being punished by the System, after all, he didn't possess one.

Goosebumps erupted all over Zayn's body and he couldn't help but feel a little bit complicated.

Now that he gave it some more thought, the corners of his lips nearly curled upward. It may be a disadvantage that society looked at him in disgust and that he would always be treated a little bit differently than highly talented Blessed but that was acceptable since it looked like the Blessings and the Systems of the Gods forced their Blessed to do things they didn't want, or be restricted in certain areas if they didn't want to face punishment.

Of course, Zayn didn't understand the logic behind the system restrictions, or how it was possible to manifest the restrictions in the first place but that didn't really matter right now.

At this very moment, the only thing of importance was the bloody bar fight that unfolded in front of him and the fact that his powers were not restricted!

The Sparrow Spirit lay in his palm, covered by the cloak he wore. As for his mask, Zayn forgot it at the counter but that may be for the better.

It would be weird if only one person wearing a mask in the bar fight. That would arouse suspicion, especially once Zayn was done with his mission.

He started to ignore the intrusive and doubtful thoughts in his mind and focused on the situation ahead where Jens was beating several drunk Blessed at the same time.

Without care for their health, he smashed their faces together, drilled his fist into their stomachs, and picked up a lightweight which he threw through the length of the room before he smashed into the wall.

Jens may be drunk and stumbled forward but his attacks were still fearsome nonetheless.

Only when close to two dozen drunk Blessed attacked Jens at the same time was it possible to overwhelm him a little. It was not possible for him to overcome his wasted drunk state, let alone the fact that he was at a numerical disadvantage.

The others such as Phillip were also having a hard time but it took even less Blessed to beat them up. However, every single one of the drunk Blessed wanted to smack Phillip and his group of bodyguards in order to receive the best possible rewards from the system mission they got.

Thus, the fight turned bloodier as the drunk Blessed pushed each other away to get closer to their targets, while the six targets had more than a dozen bruises all over their body.

Blood trickled down their noses and several wounds where their skin had been cut open due to the impact of a high-velocity fist. Their heads looked like a real mess and so was the rest of their body.

Thoroughly wasted, the Blessed was not able to control their strength properly. Dozens of blessed had fractured their hands and it was only a matter of time before the legs and several ribs of Phillip and his group would break as well.

There was no holding back from the Blessed who ate their fill and drank until way beyond their usual limit thanks to the treat of the person they were now beating into a pulp.

'If all Blessed are like this, things will definitely go downhill for mankind…they act like well-trained animals, and Gods are their masters…ridiculous,' Zayn thought while holding a few compressed fire needles in his hand.

His body was partially resistant to the flames manifested by his Spirits as they were bound to him. However, that was not something he could be bothered about right now.

After all, he was waiting for the perfect moment to throw the fire needles and end the lives of Phillip and his people!

'Now!'
