Chapter 29
29 Dirty little secrets
Hearing his father’s words Yi Chen could only turn to the stairs and walk over to him. He was exhausted mentally, emotionally and physically but he didn’t show it on his face. In evenly paced strides he walked over and his father’s taut expression relaxed significantly.
“Clean this up,” he said to the Admiral standing beside him before turning to his son. The man was especially efficient in ordering his subordinates that they managed to clean up the mess in a matter of seconds.
Yi Chen’s appearance had improved the Marshal’s mood which wasn’t going to last long so they had to take advantage of this opportunity and do their due diligence. While they busied themselves like ants, Marshal Yi turned to his son and said,
“That woman is as crazy as her father.”
Yi Chen glanced over at the boxes being carried away and acquiesced with a silent, “En,” but in truth, he thought all three of them including his father were in the same category.
“I heard you exceeded the time limit in the training room. Was it that easy?” said the Marshal reaching over with his hand to push away the stray strands of hair on his son’s forehead.
He took a glimpse over what his son was wearing and a tinge of dissatisfaction flashed in his eyes but it was only fleeting.
“It was challenging but I was displeased with my performance so I exceeded the time limit to improve my score,” he replied raking his fingers through his hair and pushing it back.
“Mn, up the difficulty level next time. You are going to be the future Marshal. You can’t afford to have any weaknesses,” he replied with his hand on Yi Chen’s shoulder while staring straight into his eyes.
.....
Yi Chen nodded his head in agreement. Seeing this Marshal Yi smiled as his gaze fell on the two inky armband strips on Yi Chen’s arm. Recalling his conversation with his wife he sighed and said, “Go and rest. When you wake up call your mother.”
Yi Chen hummed in agreement before stepping away. He was so exhausted that he didn’t notice the oddity in his father’s expression.

As soon as he left the cargo bay the Marshal lowered his head subconsciously touching his arm where his now single armband strip was.
He didn’t agree with his wife’s idea of sending Yi Chen on a blind date but when he was Yi Chen’s age he had already fallen in love and had willingly given away one of his armband strips to his now-wife.
This trait was something unique to their Yi family and when the other half is given away it meant that person is your chosen spouse. People were different and Yi Chen didn’t look like the romantic type like him.
This is why his wife wanted to push the boat along the river but he didn’t necessarily agree. At the same time, he couldn’t go against her.
He could only sigh worriedly and hope it wouldn’t affect his son’s performance more especially now when there was a resistance growing from the prime ministers who didn’t want the position of the Marshal to be inherited but elected.
Just like how they forgot that the royal family guided them through the exodus and brought them to this prosperous galaxy they had also forgotten that the military belonged to the Yi family, not the federation. It was for this reason he pushed Yi Chen hard but he also felt guilty. This matter gave him sleepless nights and now Zi Feiji and his crazy daughter were just adding to his headache. It was extremely frustrating.

While Marshal Yi was growing more grey hairs in worry, Lynn Feng was now sitting in her seat in a relaxed posture while going through Yi Chen’s private data. At first, she was grinning like the Cheshire cat from Alice in wonderland but her smile slowly sank her expression changing to that of disappointment.
“How is that even possible,” she said scrolling through his entire storage.
Zi Xingxi who was reclining in the captain’s chair while tossing a stress ball up in the air asked, “What?” without looking up.
“Kids his age especially boys should have little secrets. You know like girls, maybe weird searches on starnet or R rated content,” said Lynn Feng before spinning her chair around to look in Zi Xingxi’s direction, “but this bastard is as clean as a whistle. How is that fuckin possible?”
With a light patter, Zi Xingxi caught the stress ball in her hand and paused. “Maybe you aren’t the normal one?” she said before throwing the ball in the air again.
Lynn Feng resisted the urge to roll her eyes as she responded, “He doesn’t even have any hobbies. Apart from a strict training schedule, he has nothing else going on for him. He is like a lifeless AI.”
“Hey, hey, hey..... that’s offensive. I as an AI am especially spirited,” interjected Chronos feeling a little offended.
“That’s just you. You are a special case.... and not in a good way,” she said pointing at the bouncing hologram that had appeared in her face.
“Wuwuwu master, she called me crazy,” cried out Chronos seeking justice from the least empathetic person on the bridge.
Patter...
The sound of Zi Xingxi catching the ball sounded again before she gently squeezed it. “According to that logic then what do you think I can find in little Han Han’s light brain?”
Lynn Feng who had been sitting in a lazy posture like a cat basking in the sun suddenly became energetic. Her eyes as wide as light bulbs she said, “Do you want to check it out?”
Zi Xingxi, “...”
“Aren’t you a little too enthusiastic?.....,” she said before shuffling to lay on her side and suddenly looked at secretary K who was minding his own business in the corner, “You were once young weren’t you secretary K?”
The man’s body tensed up seriously calculating the possibility of him escaping through that exit before she gets to him. “I..... uh.... ah,” he hummed and hawed not sure how to answer such an obvious question.
“What sort of secrets did you have in your light brain at Zi Han’s age? Just curious,” said Zi Xingxi with a wolfish grin like if he lied she would go through his light brain.
His forehead was suddenly laced with a layer of cold sweat the longer her menacing gaze lingered on his body. He was afraid she wouldn’t believe him if he told the truth. Thats mainly because the truth was unbelievable.
“Kit-kittens... I liked kitten videos,” he said dabbing away his forehead sweat with his handkerchief.
Everyone, “.....”
“AHAHAHAHAHA, HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Kittens HAHAHAHAHA!!!!” laughed Lynn Feng almost rolling on the floor.
Zi Xingxi shuffled back to lying on her back her smile as big as the crescent moon. “Pfft... I rest my case,” she said feeling at ease. Of course, her little Han Han was innocent. He wasn’t the type to have dirty secrets in his light brain.
AN: Okay, okay, sure... sure.
