Chapter 35
35 Yi Chen’s family
It turns out the Zi family wasn’t the only one having a family reunion. A few streets over in a neighbourhood with suspended stand-alone mansions, better known as the floating islands, a VIP military hovercar parked in front of the biggest mansion in the community.
Whoosh...
The sliding doors of the hovercar opened and a familiar figure stepped out dressed in a uniform completely devoid of that relaxed aura he had in casual wear. His back was straight, his expression stern as he walked over to his family home.
One would assume he wasn’t returning home but he was on his way to inform a military family of the passing of their loved one in action. His expression might have seemed cold and detached but his ice-cold heart was gradually warming up.
As soon as he stepped in front of the main door his identification was scanned and the door slid open. A slight quirk appeared at the corner of his lips as the comforting warmth of home encircled his body.
A humanoid butler appeared in front of him and greeted, “Nice to have you home sir,” while taking off his coat.
Yi Chen calmly stood there while his shoes were disinfected. As soon as this step was completed, he heard someone coming down the stairs.
In front of him was a little boy about ten years of age walking down the stairs with a pair of headsets on and a floating screen in front of him. He was actually playing games while walking down the stairs. Yi Chen frowned and took a few steps forward.
This little game addict was his little brother Yi Youxi. Their age difference was exactly seven years and unlike him, this little one could get away with murder and their mother would let him. In layman’s terms, Yi Chen was his father’s son while Yi Youxi was his mother’s son.
.....
Unlike Lin Ruoxi (their mother), Yi Chen had no qualms about offending this little ancestor. With a yoink, Yi Chen confiscated the game while reprimanding him, “You can’t even look at where you are going.”
Yi Youxi, “???”

“Hey!” he said while leaping up to grab his device that was dangling in Yi Chen’s stretched out hand. The height difference was incredibly huge making all his painstaking efforts useless. He was like super Mario trying to make an impossible jump.
Frustrated he escalated things to DEFCON red in a second. “Mum! Dage is bullying people!’
“Yah, good luck with that.... mama’s boy,” said Yi Chen with a sly grin that sent shivers down Yi Youxi’s body. AAAAHHHH... his older brother was just as scary as his dad. Yi Chen went up the stairs while Yi Youxi scurried away looking for his backer.
After two steps Yi Chen suddenly froze when he was met by two big almond-shaped eyes shimmering like pearls under the moonlight. She smiled at him with her finger in her mouth seeming too shy to call out older brother.
This little ray of sunshine was Yi Ming or Ming-Ming as plenty addressed her as such. She was a beautiful little girl with a temperament far different from her older brothers. With her silky voice, she was the sunniest person in the Marshal’s house.
With a slight smile, he picked her up. “Call gege and I will give you a gift,” he said while taking out something from his breast pocket. The seven-year-old smiled happily as she called out, “Gege!” while stretching out her hand asking for payment.
Yi Chen took out a necklace with the twin suns of Saarlia on either side like a coin and put it around her neck. “You like it?” he asked as he put her down.
Ming Ming shyly bit her index finger again while nodding her head. “It’s pretty,” she said as Yi Chen opened the door to his room.
His sister followed behind him as he took off his jacket tossing it in the laundry. “Good” he casually replied as he unbuttoned the cuffs on his wrist. “Why don’t you go play with Youxi.... dage needs some time alone?”
But who would have thought she would refuse. She was a sensible child who listened to her elders all except when it came to Yi Chen. He was like that nice older brother that rarely comes home so she would cling to him whenever he does come home.
Unlike Yi Youxi who fought with her over everything Yi Chen brought her pretty things and made her smile. The unfortunate thing about being the favourite brother meant she would cling to him like a tick. She was like bed bugs, easy to bring into his room but difficult to get rid of.
Yi Chen seemed to be used to it. With his head tilted backwards he unbuttoned the top button of his shirt while saying, “If you go now gege will take you to the amusement park tomorrow.”
Ming Ming resolutely shook her head in refusal as she went full toddler on him. She lay flat on the bed like a rock refusing to move. “Nuh ah,” she said shaking her head while staging a one-man protest in refusal, “I am sleeping here.”
Yi Chen, “!!!”
“No you ain’t,” he said before picking her up and placing her outside his room before locking his door. Pouting her lips she sat on the floor cross-legged outside his door waiting for him to come out.
Yi Youxi who had lost his battle to acquire back up ran upstairs only to find his sister sitting on the ground while facing their older brother’s door.
“He locked you out?” asked Yi Youxi before sitting right next to her.
“Uh-huh,” said Ming Ming feeling a little aggrieved.
Yi Youxi patted her head in a rare moment of showing affection and said, “Then let’s wait for him together.”
Thus two cuties, one big and one small waited outside Yi Chen’s door like loan sharks coming to collect what belongs to them.
Thus when mother Yi got upstairs this was the scene she was met with. They looked so cute like little Pomeranians waiting for their master who just left home for work. She couldn’t resist taking a picture and sending it to her husband.

Yi’sPrettyWife: You should have him home more often.
Marshal Yi whose light brain was broadcasting on a big screen in a meeting with the generals suddenly flashed and an image of two dumplings sitting outside Yi Chen’s bedroom door popped up for everyone to see.
Marshal, “???”
Admiral, “QAQ” I am so dead.
Generals, “....”
“AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!”
Out of all the ten choices they had on how to react they somehow managed to choose death. The marshal will most certainly not spare anyone today.
