Chapter 179: Surprising Retreat

Chapter 179: Surprising Retreat

Damian slipped the powerful downwards Fire Fist that was aimed to his face, then swiftly with the same movement grabbed onto the arm of the Pyro Mage.

His arm was burning hot, but to Damian, who had a high pain tolerance along with a high resistivity to heat and fire energy, it wasn't something that was unbearable and he rolled backwards.

Damian's grip strength after training in a bow for so long and making sure that both his hands were trained evenly, along with tempering his entire body thoroughly made it so that it was impossible for the Pyro Mage to escape his clutches.

As he rolled backwards, he swung the Pyro Mage who was already striking downwards with as much force as he could muster and the Pyro Mage was helpless, while his companions had no way to help him and didn't even react in time.

Swinging him backwards from his arm and using his own force and momentum against him, Damian slammed the Pyro Mage face-first into the ground behind him.

The force was enough to smash his face badly and instantly knock him unconscious, while the arm that Damian was holding was also dislocated after he didn't let go as the Pyro Mage slammed into the ground and unintentionally dislocated it.

Letting go of his arm, Damian kicked the Pyro Mage to make sure he was unconscious before picking up his bow and preparing to support the Monkey Beast.

Damian and the Pyro Mage were at a similar cultivation level and Damian was in an extremely weakened state, yet he was able to take him down within a matter of seconds with minimal effort.

It went to show just how important one's combat prowess was and angering the Pyro Mage made it so that he didn't think clearly and didn't hold back, which Damian used to his advantage.

However although he had taken down one, there were still 3 powerful royal academy students left and he needed to support the Monkey Beast and take them down as quickly as he could, as he wouldn't be able to hold out for much longer.

Damian had no choice but to rely on the Monkey Beast to take down the royal academy students, but wasn't completely dependant on it and was prepared for the beast to ditch him at any moment.

But for the time being, since it was assisting him, he had no reason not to exploit the opportunity to take down the royal academy students and not only get his revenge, but also make sure that they couldn't come back to get him in the future.

They had mentioned communication devices which he didn't have and or use since they were quite difficult to produce and expensive to purchase, since they were formed out of runes.

Communication devices also required energy to function and since most weren't internal cultivators, most communication devices had energy storages built-in and were very useful to have.

The issue wasn't that he didn't have a communication device as he was too far from the academy for someone to come and help him, but what worried him was whether the royal academy students had reinforcements nearby or could call a powerful cultivator to come after him.

Damian had shown that he was capable and one of the rising stars of the new generation that would play a big part in a future conflict between the academies, and if the royal academy students got away and reported what had occurred, he would be in big trouble.

Not only would he be targeted because of his value to Akegria Academy, but also because he had taken down two of their students badly and may have killed one of them.

Despite that, he wasn't afraid and the more enemies came his way, the more chances he would get to fight and he had no reason to fear, as he wasn't in the wrong and would never submit or fear anyone.

Forming an arrow and drawing back his bow, Damian fired it towards the group leader who was a very frightening individual that was very intelligent and capable.

His Soul Spirit allowed him to completely change and manipulate the battlefield to please him and could be used for support, offence and defence, while he also seemed to be an External Cultivator and cultivated Earth Energy.

That led Damian to believe that he was also a capable close combat fighter and it was almost guaranteed that he was skilled in many skills and techniques that used the Earth Element.

With his fire abilities that came with his Soul Spirit and affinity with the Fire Element, it was expected for him to have explosive capabilities along with being able to burn others and release lots of raw power and powerful attacks.

While with the group leader's earth abilities that came with his Soul Spirit and affinity with the Earth Element, Damian could expect great defensive capabilities along with relatively slow, but powerful attacks.

The arrow seemed to be a perfect hit and was about to strike the group leader in the chest, but as it was about to do so, a small layer of rock appeared over his chest and blocked the arrow before crumbling.

Without even looking over to Damian or moving a finger, the group leader was able to block Damian's arrow with ease and Damian couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated and uneasy.

Such a skilled, capable and intelligent opponent that had unknown abilities and connections was dangerous to face, especially in the state that Damian was in and he wouldn't mind ending their battle there.

"What do you say we call it a draw?" suggested the group leader, shocking Damian.

It seemed clear that their battle had reached a stalemate of sorts where Damian and the Monkey Beast were able to fend off the three royal academy students that were left and there was no need to continue their battle.

[Can this guy read my mind] thought Damian to himself, surprised by the group leader's sudden suggestion.
