The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 177: Money!

The strong amber light wasn't something the old man had expected, as he was pretty sure what such a strong light signified. The light seemed to contain a mysterious warmth, as it covered the entirety of the small shop. The old man's eyes were practically shining at this point, he had never seen such a splendid mana crystal before! He gave Ark a peculiar look, "Can I take a closer look at it?"

Ark didn't really answer, he just nodded, and handed the mana crystal over. Even though he knew it was worth a lot of money, he wasn't afraid that the old man was going to try and steal it from him, he was confident in his strength. Unless the opponent had an overwhelming level advantage, he wasn't really scared.

Naturally, he didn't believe that he was unparalleled amongst his level, he wasn't that arrogant after all. He had no idea how vast this world truly was, but he knew that it was certainly way bigger than earth, and there was always someone better out there.

There were numerous races in the world, and they all had endless potential, surely there was someone with higher strength than him out there, maybe even with an even lower level. Dragon's were known for being paragons, they could probably take care of him with ease. As the thought crossed his mind, he could feel a burning passion in his heart. He really wanted to get stronger.

As Ark got stronger, his passion for pursuing the peak just intensified. He didn't feel satisfied in the slightest with his current strength, it was actually quite the opposite. He knew that his strength wasn't sufficient, and Ark wanted to live his life the way he wanted to. Whilst Ark was lost in his own thoughts of getting stronger, the old man was lost in his own thoughts too.

This mana crystal was one of a kind! He had never seen anything like it before.

What was shocking wasn't only the amount of mana that was in the crystal, but also its element! The amount of creatures with light mana crystals was way lower than any other creature, even creatures with dark mana crystals were easy to find in comparison, and they were normally seen as quite rare. If he found the right person, he could earn a lot of money from this mana crystal!

Before he got any ideas, he gave Ark a long glance, where had this person managed to find a mana crystal like this? He was so young as well! Even though the specifics of how he had acquired the mana crystal were unimportant in this deal, the old man was pretty curious how such a young lad managed to get his hands on something like this.

Since they were just standing there in silence, the old man decided to speak up.

"How much do you want for this mana crystal?"

Ark glanced at Thufrat instinctively, since he was the only one here who had any sort of idea about the value of such a mana crystal. Seeing Thufrat softly shake his head, Ark pondered for a second. Since he didn't really know the value of the mana crystal, he could only ask the old man what he was willing to offer.

Just straight up asking him would obviously lower the amount of money he would offer, so Ark was going to act a little.

With his arms crossed in front of his chest, Ark made sure to look a little annoyed, as he quickly countered the old man's question.

"Just state your price, I don't have time for this."

The old man looked a little surprised at first, since he had thought that this young man in front of him had a better temper, but he quickly adjusted, and thought of a price quickly.

"How about 500 platinum coins?"

Ark naturally had no idea if this price was supposed to be good, and since he didn't want to expose himself, he just coldly stared at the old man, as if the amount didn't really interest him. The old man wasn't really taken aback by the fact that Ark wasn't moved by the price. He only pondered a little bit before throwing out a new offer.

"Since you don't seem tempted by 500, how about 650, that's a reasonable price right?"

Ark lifted an eyebrow, but he didn't answer, as if he was interested, but it was still below him. The old man naturally noticed this small detail, as he had been working in the business for quite a while, and he knew that Ark would probably sell it to him as long as he raised the price a bit more.

The value of this mana crystal wasn't normally this high, the old man's offer was already approaching the limit of its value.

The reason the old man wanted it so much was because he had certain contacts that he could sell it to. The person he was planning on selling it to would give him at least a 1000 platinum for it, which would be quite the profit. Even though the difference didn't seem like much, a few hundred platinum was already considered an astronomical amount by most.

"Hmm, you know what? I'll give you 750 for it, final offer. That's as far as I can go if I want to make any sort of profit."

As Ark heard this, he felt like smiling. He had done absolutely nothing, yet the price had been raised by 50%, netting him another 250 platinum coins. With an indifferent look on his face, Ark reached out his hand to the old man. "I guess that'll do." The old man shook his hand, and went into a room behind the counter, seemingly looking for something.

Ark wouldn't let him leave with the mana crystal, so he held it until the old man returned with a small bag.

"It's a pretty low-quality spatial bag, but it has enough space to hold the coins, you can just put them in your own spatial bag later." As he reached out to receive the spatial bag, Ark handed the mana crystal to the old man. Ark looked as indifferent as ever, but Thufrat couldn't help but gulp down his saliva as he thought about the amount, 750 platinum...

it was an amount he couldn't even dream of previously.

Even Ark, who didn't really understand its value as much as Thufrat did, knew it was a large amount of money, and even if he looked calm on the outside, his heart was racing.
