The Fake Daughter Is Not Innocent

Chapter 57 - Aunties Signature Dish

Chapter 57: Auntie’s Signature Dish

The auntie worked even harder, revealing all her skills.

Nothing made her happier than receiving praise for her cooking.

Cheng Yang sat in the study looking at the documents on the table, unable to concentrate on any of them.

He came out of the study once, only to hear Xiao Ying and the auntie talking and laughing, with Xiao Ying giving compliments one after another.

Cheng Yang’s expression darkened even more. That heartless girl.

She was so talkative even towards the auntie. How come she was always making him mad?

If Xiao Ying knew what Cheng Yang was thinking, she would definitely cry out in grievance.

She didn’t even know why he was angry. What was he angry about?

Cheng Yang scoffed and looked at the cup in his hand. Without even refilling the water, he turned and went back into the study.

After working for two hours, Xiao Ying looked at the lavish dinner on the table and smiled.

The auntie had already gone back home. Cheng Yang didn’t like people staying in his space, so there would be a set time for the auntie to clean, cook, and then go back home.

Xiao Ying went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water and knocked on the study door.

Cheng Yang quickly flipped open a document that he hadn’t even looked at and said, “Enter.”

The cold tone made Xiao Ying smile.

Slowly, she stuck her head out from behind the door and looked at Cheng Yang. “Brother, I’m here to call you to eat.”

Cheng Yang looked at Xiao Ying, who only revealed her head, and said, “Do I look like I’ll eat you?”

Realizing what Cheng Yang meant, Xiao Ying smiled awkwardly and entered the study.

She placed the cup of water she was holding on his desk.

She said again, “Brother, it’s time to eat.”

Cheng Yang said coldly, “I thought you had forgotten about me the moment you saw food.”

Xiao Ying hurriedly smiled and replied, “How could I?”

Cheng Yang sighed, not knowing what to do with Xiao Ying.

He had been angry at her for half the day and she didn’t even know what he was angry about.

Cheng Yang stood up, his expression softening slightly as he said, “Let’s go. Didn’t you say this afternoon that you were hungry?”

Knowing that she had successfully passed, Xiao Ying was overjoyed. “Okay!”

Cheng Yang looked at the food arranged on the table and raised an eyebrow.

As he looked at Xiao Ying, he thought to himself, this little girl is more welcomed than he was. Normally, even he, the employer, cannot enjoy such a luxurious dinner from the auntie.

After Xiao Ying sat down, she looked at Cheng Yang in confusion. “Brother, what’s wrong?”

Cheng Yang shook his head and placed the sweet and sour pork on the table in front of Xiao Ying before sitting down.

After eating their fill, they went to the couch to watch TV.

After watching for a while, Xiao Ying fell asleep, falling over onto Cheng Yang’s lap.

Cheng Yang smiled helplessly, picking her up and carrying her back to her room.

When Xiao Ying woke up, the sky was already dark. She rubbed her eyes and reached to turn on the lights, but nothing happened.

Xiao Ying was a little puzzled. She turned on the desk lamp, but there was no reaction either.

This time, she was sure it must be a blackout.

She sat on the bed, still a little groggy.

She stared at the carpet, but it was too dark to see anything. Slowly, her head cleared up.

She suddenly thought of something and rushed out of bed.

She stumbled out of the room and knocked on Cheng Yang’s door.

Upon hearing no response, Xiao Ying shouted anxiously, “Brother, Brother, open the door!”

Xiao Ying kept shouting and repeating for her brother to open the door.

Finally, the door opened.

Xiao Ying’s hand was still raised mid-knock, and she heaved a sigh of relief when she saw Cheng Yang standing unscathed at the door.

“Brother, you’re okay! I’m—” So glad.

Before she could finish speaking, she was pulled into Cheng Yang’s embrace.

She couldn’t see anything in the darkness. Only after making contact did she notice that Cheng Yang’s entire forehead was damp.

She remembered the Cheng Yang she saw at the haunted house. That time, he was covered in cold sweat too.

Sympathy flashed across Xiao Ying’s eyes. She hugged Cheng Yang’s neck and leaned closer to his ear. “Brother, don’t be scared. I’m here.”
