Chapter 40: The White-eyed Wolf
Chapter 40
Jing Yi looked puzzled, "What were we just talking about?"
Weren't they discussing travel plans earlier? How had the topic strayed so far?
Jing Zeqian glanced at the person beside him, "I said I'd take you all for a tour of North river, not that we'd go to 'Startrack'."
Jing Yi laughed dryly, realizing she had misunderstood and led the conversation astray.
Since they weren't going to 'Startrack', Jing Yi was quite curious, "Then where are we going?"
"The Shanchi Racing Track in North river. Want to go?"
Jing Zeqian knew very well that Jing Yi was interested in racing tracks. She had only been here a few days and had already set her sights on her eldest brother's only sports car. Last time racing tracks were mentioned, her eyes had lit up.
Besides, he happened to be an investor in the Shanchi Racing Track, so taking them there for fun wouldn't be a problem.
Jing Zeqian mentioned the racing track casually, and sure enough, he saw the reaction he had anticipated.
The person beside him instantly brightened up.
[Racing track!!!!!]
"Racing track?" Lin Ruiqing's voice chimed in simultaneously.
Jing Yi suppressed her smile, trying hard to appear uninterested.
Lin Ruiqing was a bit confused, not knowing why Jing Zeqian had thought of taking Jing Yi and the others to a racing track, but she had heard Jing Yi's excited voice and seen her attempt to hide her enthusiasm.
She didn't say anything more, just smiled at Jing Yi and said, "It's nice to go out and about."

Jing Zejun smiled at Jing Yi and asked on her behalf, "Sounds good, Second Brother. When are we going?"
Jing Yi looked at Jing Zejun with delight, thinking he was also interested in racing.
Jing Zeqian considered his recent work schedule, "Tomorrow?"
"Great!" Jing Yi agreed immediately.
Even Jing Beicheng couldn't help but smile.
...
At the entrance of the Huarui Group CEO's office, a woman was angrily trying to force her way in.
"Mrs. Shen, you can't go in!" The assistant blocked her path.
"Get out of my way!"
"Mrs. Shen, you don't have an appointment, and the CEO is in a meeting!"
The middle-aged woman shoved the assistant aside and barged into the office.
Inside, Shen Huaichu was discussing something with two current executives of the company. Seeing the intruder, his eyes showed no ripple of emotion, remaining cold.
"Please leave for now."
"Yes, sir."
The executives had heard the commotion outside earlier. Seeing Shen Huaichu's order, they walked towards the door, catching a glimpse of the newcomer - someone they recognized.
"Mr. Shen..." The assistant, unable to stop the middle-aged woman, was now extremely nervous.
Shen Huaichu said calmly, "You go out too."
"Yes..."
The assistant turned and left, closing the office door.
He stopped at his workstation, his expression very tense, his uneasy eyes betraying his inner anxiety and unease.
The woman who had just entered was the wife of the former CEO. He recognized her but also knew that Shen Huaichu wouldn't want to see this person. Yet he still failed to stop Mrs. Shen.
The assistant had only recently been assigned to this position by the CEO; the previous assistant had long since packed up and left. For him, this was a rare opportunity.
And he was one of the few who had witnessed the company's major leadership change and remained, naturally knowing how swift and decisive Shen Huaichu's methods were.
In the office, Mrs. Shen, who had barged in, glared fiercely at Shen Huaichu.
"Shen Huaichu, you ungrateful wretch! Have you no conscience?! Your living expenses and school fees all these years were paid by your uncle! And this is how you repay him, sending him to jail while you sit comfortably here, taking over his position! Even a dog wouldn't bite the hand that fed it!"
Shen Huaichu gave her a cold glance, his eyes utterly indifferent, seemingly unbothered by her words.
"Conscience? Money? Aunt, are you referring to the money you inherited from my parents' estate, or the conscience you showed when you usurped our home after my parents passed away?"
"What do you mean your parents' estate?! Wasn't your uncle your father's brother? Why shouldn't he have a share of the Shen family's money?!"
"So you tampered with the car back then?"
Mrs. Shen's face instantly turned pale, her eyes flashing with panic, "What nonsense are you talking about! What happened back then was an accident! You have no evidence to slander your own uncle and aunt like this! Are you even human?!"
The woman's voice was hoarse and trembling. She tried to appear calm, but the quiver in her voice betrayed her current state of mind.
Shen Huaichu smiled, but his voice carried a chill that made one's heart tremble.
"Human? Aunt, I stopped being human twenty years ago. In that car accident twenty years ago, my parents, your elder brother and sister-in-law, were crushed beyond recognition by that large truck. They couldn't crawl out, but I did."
Twenty years ago, Shen Huaichu's parents were taking their not-yet-ten-year-old son out for a trip, but their car never reached its destination.
While speeding on the highway, the car suddenly lost control. Shen Huaichu's father frantically turned the steering wheel, trying to force the car to stop, but they collided with a speeding truck behind them.
Shen Huaichu's mother held him tightly, shielding him underneath her. Before the ambulance could arrive, both parents had already stopped breathing.
Shen Huaichu was the only survivor of that car accident.
Mrs. Shen, frightened by his gaze, unconsciously took half a step back, swallowing nervously.
The person in front of her seemed like an evil spirit, ready to drag her away at any moment.
Shen Huaichu's cold eyes fixed on her, "You say I'm comfortable? How can I not be? You all have comfortably enjoyed the glory and wealth of the Shen family for twenty years. I've only been in this position for a few days."
Mrs. Shen's legs went weak, her lips trembling slightly, realizing that Shen Huaichu wouldn't easily let them off.
"Huaichu, please, I'm begging you! Please spare your uncle, spare your brother! Spare our family! I'm begging you!"
Spare them? Why didn't they spare his family back then?!
As for Shen Chen, that useless fool, did he even need to lift a finger? Just a wine bag and rice sack. And his uncle had sat in this position for many years.
From Huarui's peak period, he had sat here until the company declined day by day. Equally useless.
Shen Huaichu sneered, lowering his head to continue dealing with work, his voice growing colder.
"Aunt, I have spared him. Otherwise, what you'd be seeing might not be a living uncle. At least now you can spend the rest of your life, ten or so years, or maybe just a few years, visiting him in there occasionally."
Mrs. Shen's eyes gradually filled with hatred, her bloodshot eyes full of venom, "You're a devil! Why couldn't you have died in that crash too!"
Shen Huaichu's lips curled slightly. He had thought the same thing back then. "If you all didn't die, how could I?"
He pressed the intercom on his desk, his voice icy, "Call security."
The assistant immediately entered with several security guards, ready to drag the woman away. Her distorted mouth was still cursing Shen Huaichu, "Shen Huaichu! You'll come to no good end!"
No good end? He had heard too many such words lately. It would be best if these people lived long enough to see him die...
Shen Huaichu lowered his eyelids, continuing to flip through the documents in his hand, saying expressionlessly, "If this happens again, you needn't come back."
The assistant felt relieved, "Don't worry, Mr. Shen! I definitely won't make the same mistake again!"
