The Girl Who Married a Tycoon Husband After Disfigurement

Chapter 16: Liu Yan

Chapter 16

The young man did not believe Ling Yue could take out thirty million, after all that was not a small amount, but he wanted to give himself one last chance, “My name is Liu Yan.”

“Ling Yue, remember my phone number.” Ling Yue told Liu Yan her phone number, and handed him the candy in her hand, “You’re not even afraid of death, what else is there to be afraid of?”

Seeing the green light come on, Ling Yue waved to Liu Yan and walked across the street.

Liu Yan watched Ling Yue’s back as she left, the corners of his mouth slowly curving up into a shallow smile. No matter whether she could help him get through this difficult time, he would try his best to live on in the future, she was right, he was not even afraid of death, what else was there to be afraid of?

Granny Xu finished planting vegetable seeds, stood up and patted her back. She saw there was a small empty spot in the yard so she wanted to plant some vegetables, it would be a waste to leave it empty.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Granny Xu turned her head to look, seeing Ling Yue return, a smile appeared on her face as she went to greet her, “Little miss, you’re back, are you hungry? There are steamed buns I made in the pot.”

Ling Yue picked up the bag of stinky tofu she was holding, “I bought some stinky tofu, Granny Xu have some too.” She felt this world was not bad, not only were there all kinds of delicious food, but life was also very convenient.

“No need, you go ahead and eat, I’ll just have the steamed buns.” Granny Xu smiled and waved her hand. She could not stand the smell of stinky tofu, just the odor made her unable to eat.

Ling Yue smiled mischievously, “Alright, I’ll enjoy the delicacies by myself then.”

Granny Xu looked at Ling Yue indulgently. After Ling Yue went inside, she went to the well to wash her hands, then walked into the house, “Little miss, you went to read books again today?” She felt the little miss had changed a lot after the big fire, becoming more and more cheerful.

“I went to set up broadband service at the telecom office. The telecom technician will come to install the phone tomorrow morning.” Ling Yue spoke while handing the new mobile phone she had bought to Granny Xu.

“Little miss, why are you giving this to me? I have no use for it, you should use it yourself.” Granny Xu had of course seen mobile phones before, but she was just an old lady and didn’t need such an advanced gadget. Plus she had heard phone bills were expensive.

“I have one, this one is for you.” Ling Yue stuffed the phone into Granny Xu's hand.

“Didn’t you say the house was getting a phone installed? I’ll be fine with just the landline, take this phone back and get a refund.”

“It can’t be refunded anymore, so you might as well just use it.” Ling Yue blinked playfully at Granny Xu.

“You child.” Granny Xu shook her head helplessly, but her heart was brimming with sweetness.

Ling Meng returned home carrying bags of newly purchased clothes. Seeing Yang Xiner sitting on the sofa in the living room watching TV, she went over, “Mom, I bought a silk scarf for you, see if you like it.”

She took out a silk scarf from one of the bags and held it out in front of Yang Xiner. Every time she went shopping, she would buy a little gift for her mom. If her mom was happy, she would give her more allowance.

Yang Xiner took the scarf and compared it against herself, nodding in satisfaction, “Good taste, I really like it.”

Ling Meng sat down next to Yang Xiner, hooked her arm around hers, and rested her head on her shoulder. “Mom, school starts next week. Have you called the principal to have Ling Yue’s enrollment revoked?” For several days she had not heard any news from Ling Yue, and didn’t know if that wretched girl was suffering terribly from her wounds.

Yang Xiner smiled and patted the back of Ling Meng’s hand. “Don’t you trust your mom to handle things? That dead girl not only won’t be able to go to school anymore, she won’t even be able to find a job.” She had already put out the word that any company who dared hire Ling Yue would be driven to bankruptcy by her.

“I knew mom is the best. But I feel we’re letting that wretched girl off too easily. Why don’t we send two people to finish her off and let her descend completely into hell.” Her eyes were shrouded in resentment towards Ling Yue. In her previous life, Ling Yue had gotten her wish and married Zhou Mucheng, becoming the young Madam Zhou. Zhou Mucheng had doted on her endlessly, not letting her suffer the slightest grievance.

Once she had schemed against Ling Yue, and when Zhou Mucheng found out he had thrown her into a brothel. That period of time she had lived a fate worse than death. So before she died she had sworn that if she had another life, she would make sure Ling Yue suffered miserably and lived a life not worth living.

Luckily heaven had given her another chance, allowing her to live her life over again. So whenever she had the opportunity she would goad her mother into bullying Ling Yue secretly, which led to Ling Yue’s timid and weak personality.

The wedding dress shop fire was also her scheme. She wanted Ling Yue to become the ugliest woman in the world, having to look at that ugly face every day for the rest of her life.

Yang Xiner pondered for a moment, then nodded her head, “Alright.” She also didn’t want that dead girl to come back, though the possibility was minute.

Ling Meng smiled victoriously. Get ready to weather the coming storm, Ling Yue.

After the telecom technician finished installing the broadband and phone and left, Ling Yue suddenly remembered her appointment with Liu Yan. She glanced at the time, called out to Granny Xu in the house, then hurried out the door.

“Little miss!” Granny Xu heard the voice and came out from the house, but Ling Yue was already gone. She could only shake her head helplessly and go back inside to continue what she had been doing.

Liu Yan stood at the side of the road. He hadn’t slept the entire previous night, thinking about whether or not he should believe in Ling Yue. Although he couldn’t see Ling Yue’s appearance clearly, looking at her eyes he could tell she was quite young.

He glanced at the time. Liu Yan looked around but didn’t see any sign of Ling Yue, shaking his head bitterly. She probably wasn't coming.

Just as Liu Yan was about to leave, hurried footsteps approached from the distance. He turned his head to look and saw Ling Yue running over. His eyes flashed with pleasant surprise.

Ling Yue ran up to Liu Yan and apologized, “Sorry, something came up at home that held me up.”

“It’s fine.” Liu Yan smiled and shook his head. As long as she had come, even if she couldn’t help him, he was grateful.

“Have you eaten yet?” Ling Yue walked alongside Liu Yan.

“I've eaten.” As soon as Liu Yan finished speaking, his stomach let out an untimely growl, and his face instantly turned red. He had come to wait for her very early so he had completely forgotten about eating.

Ling Yue held in her laugh, “Well I haven’t eaten yet either, let’s go get a bite together.”
