The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1121: Aftermath

Rex has been nothing less than a man of action throughout his entire life.

He speaks more with his actions rather than his words.

Despite the taunt and mockeries from his arrogant enemies, he rarely responds if he is on the back foot—knowing that doing so, would only make him look ridiculous. Almost always, when he does speak, it's when the situation is fixed in his favor.

But now, he did the complete opposite.

As of this moment, Rex was on the back foot, completely outclassed by the chaos monster.

Nevertheless, he threw vicious words and promises at it.

Frankly speaking, by now, it was not a rare sight to see Rex becoming berserk and consumed by the anger that most of the time—lie dormant inside of him. Every time that haunting anger comes out, it has always been a terrifying sight to see.

However, the current sight scares the others more than the past rampages Rex had done.

Rex was unable to vent through his actions.

It was the catalyst that made this wrath of his scarier than those in the past.

Even though as of this point—he stood at the pinnacle of the world—compared to the chaos monster, he was nothing more than an insignificant being in the grand scheme of things. He was a living being that posed no threat to the slithering, chaos monster.

Unlike the chaos monsters that were summoned by the Fifthborn earlier, this one is different.

Anyone could tell that this one is entirely different.

It possessed an otherworldly power that could crush Gods themselves—and it reigns, inside the realm of chaos as a prominent force that few if not none could stand up against. Rex, on the other hand, could not even last a minute inside its realm.

Just this comparison alone is enough to display the devastating difference between them.

Rex knew that thus he didn't have any other outlet other than this.

In an effort to safeguard Rex's image and reputation, Gistella swiftly erected a barrier behind them—layered with Adhara's flames so that the sight of Rex venting at the chaos monster as he fought to keep the portal open unseen by others.

Despite the victory, the place remained chillingly silent as this situation continued.

A moment later.

Currently, with the battle ended, the armies camped and tended to the wounded.

Many of whom fiercely battled with the chaos monsters from earlier were exposed to quite a severe level of chaos energy, crippling their powers and abilities to heal. If left unattended—many lives would be lost as the corruption is extremely potent.

Higher realms or unique bloodlines would help resist the corruption.

But most of the legions didn't have either and are having a hard time resisting the corruption.

Naturally, considering the scale of the battle—the damages they suffered from going against the Fifthborn were too severe for any of the armies to make the trip back to their homes. It is required for them to recuperate first before doing so.

Regulated as hostages at the center were the remaining of the Human Army.

Due to the fearsome Passues inside the Dead Man's Creek, their numbers were reduced to a pitiful amount—a fraction, of what they once were. From a scan—their numbers should be at the low one-thousand mark.

Most of the surviving Humans were the Black Hands and military personnel.

Since the Passues were attracted to Humans, the Awakened were the ones targeted first.

Only Humans could regulate the mystic elements, so an Awakened attracted them more.

Because of that, the Awakened were wiped out.

Amongst the Awakened, there were a few that survived through luck and fewer that survived because of their powers. Brigitta and Denze—were the ones who survived through their own powers, but they were not in a great condition whatsoever.

While Denzel was wounded, Brigitta was emotionally scarred instead.

It seemed the prospect of a victory for Humanity by a new leader gripped her belief tightly.

Now that they lost, the mental damage caused was nothing to scoff at.

Her eyes were blank as her mind lingered on the space of the unknown.

Furthermore—the white beam—which obliterated and consumed Dead Man's Creek entirely, had now subsided, leaving devastation beyond measure, uprooting the entire creek. Anyone could tell that a devastating incident had occurred here.

As the creek, once oozing with darkness, had been uprooted entirely.

It effectively turned into a flattened terrain.

Had not for the Symposium's remnant, none would have recognized the Dead Man's Creek.

Despite the destruction, though, there was a sole figure at the center.

Like a guardian statue of the creek, the Passue Matriarch stood at the center motionlessly.

She survived the white beam's entire devastation, now seemingly inactive.

Many of the surviving people were spooked at the sight of her, considering that she adorned the appearance of death itself. But seeing that she hadn't moved a muscle this entire time, it seemed she was no longer a threat, and the surviving people's unease gradually faded.

Then again, their focus was not solely fixed on the Passue Matriarch.

Everyone was dealing with the aftermath as there was a lot that needed to be handled.

Separating from the crowd were Flunra and Ryze.

"What do you want to talk to me about, Ryze? I need to watch over the Supernaturals"

Flunra found himself perplexed when Ryze suddenly approached him—requesting a moment of his time to talk about something. He needed to keep an eye, on the Supernatural Army, to prevent any potential atrocities against the Human Army, so he didn't have much time.

But even then, Ryze insists as he had something important to talk about.

"I heard you talked with Calidora, something about the Elders. What was that?" He asked.

Upon hearing this, Flunra raised an eyebrow questioningly.

Despite being confused as to why Ryze was asking about that, he decided to answer out of respect that Ryze helped out a lot to safeguard the others, "I asked her regarding the other Elders if there's a chance that they might attack Rex when he was vulnerable like this—and she said that the Werewolf and the Undead might attack,"

"Of course, we couldn't rule out the other high-rank Supernaturals too," He added.

Ryze's eyes glistened with a peculiar light when he heard this.

"Did you hear that? Can you deal with that?" He suddenly said, casting a glance to the side.

Although Flunra stood alone beside Ryze—he couldn't help but feel that Ryze was not talking to him exclusively. True to this intuition, Flunra's eyes flared open when a small lizard clinging to a rock nearby, erupted into azure flames before reforming into a robust entity.

Now, the harmless small lizard turned into a menacing one, taller than Flunra himself.

It was Elder Rancaladra, the Elder of the Dragonman.

"I already warned the Royal Black Prince about it, so I did my part," He replied calmly.

Unwavering in front of such a formidable individual—Ryze turned his draconic eyes, towards the Elder and added, "Rex took down the Executor, the supposed nightmare that haunted all Supernaturals in the past, and yet you couldn't lend him help dealing with the aftermath?"

"A warning from me is help enough," Elder Rancaladra replied with the same composure.

But in response, Ryze squinted his eyes.

Despite the stiff, and stoic expression Elder Rancaladra was wearing—his decision, wavered when he saw the look in Ryze's eyes. He could only let out a sigh—as he was dealing with a young Dragonman, so naturally, it would be hard.

Just like any young people across all races, they would have a natural stubbornness to them.

"Very well. I'll help if an unforeseen attack happens," He changed his mind.

Ryze smiled in return and gave him a firm nod.

On the other hand, Flunra was looking at this exchange with shock plastered on his face.

He couldn't believe that Elder Nolacula would comply with Ryze's demand.

But then again, considering Ryze's status, it's not that surprising.

Meanwhile, on the other side, after the incident with what happened to Edward—Rex has been seen sitting on the side, staring into space. He hadn't moved for nearly half an hour, looking at the splintered tree in front of him as if it were an artistic painting.

It seemed he was in deep contemplation about his next steps.

A natural action after what he had witnessed.

Knowing that he needed time for himself, the others left him alone to deeply contemplate.

However, the sight of Rex being like this obviously worried the others.

Looking at him while biting her fingernail was Adhara, standing alongside Gistella and Lyra.

Seemingly, the three of them were in a discussion.

"Adhara...?"

"Hmm—yeah?"

Adhara snapped out of her trance when Gistella called her and touched her back gently.

She was troubled by the sight of Rex and dozed off from the discussion.

"Sorry, can you repeat what you said?"

Upon hearing this, Lyra could only sigh lightly before she repeated what she just said.

"I explained that when the prince and that human had—"

"Edward, his name is Edward,"

"My apologies. As I was saying, when the prince and Edward had a conversation, I was there, and from what I overheard, I think Edward infiltrated the Fifthborn's forces. He didn't seem to be on the Fifthborn's side for real. I couldn't believe it initially—but it's true. I don't know what had happened in the past, but Edward did this so that his path would cross with the prince,"

None of the Silverstar Pack knew how the relationship between Rex and Edward got better.

Last time, they were on each other's necks.

So it was weird to see that Rex cared that much for Edward who he deemed a traitor.

Adhara thought that Gistella would know anything about this—but she didn't—which led to them asking the question to Lyra who was the one who was inside the creek alongside Rex and Edward.

Upon hearing the answer, Adhara and Gistella exchanged a look.

Even though Rex and Edward had done a similar thing in the past, this time was different.

It doesn't feel like it was planned like the one in the past.

However, thinking clearly, Adhara could guess Edward's motivation in doing this.

Considering that he was not in the picture anymore as his power was not enough to take part in the battle between the Executor, and Rex—the only step that would give Edward a chance to take part in the great battle was by taking risks.

Being corrupted by the Executor is the perfect way for him to get back into the picture.

Naturally, it was extremely risky, but it worked in the end.

Knowing this fact, Adhara had a rough idea of what kind of feeling Rex was suffering from.

"Having him being taken after that revelation must be really hard on him..." She mused lightly.

Despite coming out as the victor, it doesn't feel that way.

However, regardless of how the situation feels right now, Adhara knew that Rex was thankful that most aspects had unfolded according to his plan. Deviations and hurdles were inevitable—she trusted Rex could deal with Edward's situation.

Regardless of what happened, as long as Edward is still alive, then that's all that matters.

On the other hand, while Adhara and Gistella were discussing, Evelyn was recuperating.

Her entire energy was exhausted, and she was still in great pain.

As she was recuperating, trying to heal the internal and external wounds she suffered from the Fifthborn's Chaos Nova spell which forced her to overexert herself—Evelyn sucked in a deep breath when out of nowhere, the Witch of Chaos approached and stood beside her.

It didn't catch her off guard, she already expected the Witch to come to her.

Following that, Evelyn's focus instantly turned to Calidora.

"Should we make a move right now? Calidora, for some reason—is extremely weakened right now. You saw how she acts right? She barely moved unless necessary, and her blood energy was at its lowest. She wouldn't be able to retaliate" the Witch whispered lightly.

Upon hearing this, Evelyn shook her head, "No, not now. Rex is unstable right now,"

"Considering that Rex hasn't said anything to me—he must not know the problem, that exists between me and Calidora. No... Since it was Rex we were talking about, he must have known the problem, but chose to not intervene. He may tolerate it or he may not—it's uncertain. But for now, we do nothing"

"Also, unless you're dumb, you must've sensed Rex's hostility towards you," She added.

In response, the Witch of Chaos' expression darkened.

Now that Evelyn also noticed that animosity too, she confirmed that she was not crazy.
