The Moon Thief

Chapter 7: Brewing Potions

Chapter 7: Brewing Potions

Heinald filled the table with various tools from from the lab below. There were different sizes of Baekers, Test Tubes, Glass Flasks and Seperatory Funnels and Distillers on the table. He would use all of these tools to brew the Medium Level Strength Potion. Marcus had ordered the ingredients to be procured. He prepared the cauldron he would use to brew the potion.

Silver Water, Stardust Flower, Hent Grass Extract and Sunhed Herb. Two of each of these four ingredients were given. He could experiment twice with these materials, but there was one factor to be very careful about.

Sunhed Herb was highly toxic. Before it was added to the cauldron, the toxicity had to be eliminated with the Spirit Flame. He used all the power in his eyes to see the toxic particles on the herb. He began to spread his Spirit Flame across the herb slowly. But something unexpected happened, the Spirit Flame destroyed the toxic particles very quickly, and the herb was damaged. It quickly began to darken.

"Damn it!" Heinald muttured.

It was really unlucky. He hadn't even put his heart into the cauldron yet. He thought that the potion trial was over before he started, but suddenly he had an idea. According to the formula, after eliminating the toxicity in the herb,it was necessary to remove the fibers from it and add it into the mixture in the cauldron. However, the herb was the last to be added. At least he could observe the reactions of other materials with each other.

He immediately started preparing the potion according to the formula. Sunhed Herb was already garbage, so he focused all his attention on applying the formula so that those remaining ingredients would not be garbage.

After long efforts, he successfully combined the first three ingredients. When the ingredients were combined, the liquid inside the cauldron turned dark blue and there was a sudden explosion of toxicity. The number of toxic particles suddenly increased hundreds of times.

Unfortunately, he got this far. According to the instructions written in the formula book, when the mixture turned dark blue, the herb had to be added to the mixture.

Still, Heinald was happy with the result, and he had gained enough experience, inference, and data from this experiment, even though his first attempt did not go as he wanted. After taking a break, he decided to start his second try.

He took the second herb out of the jar and began to destroy the toxicity again with the Spirit Flame, sending the Spirit Flame as controlled as possible, but the toxicity on the heart was very sensitive, they disappeared extremely quickly.

Heinald stopped the Spirit Flame when there was little toxicity left in the herb.If he continued any longer, the herb would be garbage again.

"It's really hard ... There is still little toxicity in this herb. But I guess it's acceptable." Heinald muttured.

After removing the fibers from the herb,he started making potion again. It successfully came back to where it came last in the previous try. The toxicity in the mixture increased enormously. Heinald immediately added the herb into the mixture. As soon as the herb entered the mixture, the color of the mixture started to turn purple.

"Next is to eliminate the toxicity in the mixture." Heinald could see the toxic particles in the mixture.

He began to slowly spread his Spirit Flame into the mixture. If this process was successful, only a few processes would remain. However, the experiment was not going the way he wanted it to be. A small amount of Spirit Flame was not enough to eliminate the toxicity in the mixture,so he slightly increased the amount of Spirit Flame. However, the amount of Spirit Flame was too high and damaged the ingredients in the mixture. A disgusting smell began to emerge.

"Shit!"

If he did this successfully, all that would be left was to purify it in the beaker and after distill it. However, it still failed. Despite having the Moon Thief's eyes, it was really upsetting for him to be fail.

"Alright, I have to be calm. I've only done two attempts yet, it's normal that I fail. Others have to do hundreds of experiments and studies to succeed." Heinald tried to convince himself. He should not be upset, he was just at the beginning, and he would have to overcome much greater difficulties in the future. He wouldn't have a bright future if he gave up already.

Heinald left his room and went to the Rinemoth Library, where an Apprentice Ainsar was waiting at the library entrance.

"Greetings.I'm Heinald, I want to enter the library."

"You must have special permission to enter the library." Apprentice Ainsar stood out and said.

"Lord Marcus has allowed me to use the library for two hours a day." Heinald pulled out his badge and showed it.

"Ah!You have a gold badge. All right then, go ahead. You have two hours." When the apprentice Ainsar saw the badge,he let Heinald in.

When Heinald entered the library, he found a much larger library than he had expected. This library possibly containing thousands of books. Heinald's intention to come here was to learn about physical development. Although Ainsars possessed Magical power, they were important in pysical powerAccording to what he learned from his grandfather, after a certain level, the body would start to collapse and be unable to cope with the Magic Energy.

Heinald had no problem with this right now, but it would be in the future. So he wanted to start strengthening his body already. In this library, he hoped to find books explaining what kind of body strengthening techniques Ainsar took. Thus, he would combine the knowledge he gained and create a development method suitable for him. During the two-hour period, he looked at hundreds of books but could not find the kind of books he was looking for.

When he left the library, he went straight to the city and went to Rinemoth's Claw, the Rinemoth Family's shop, where he was greeted by Hamber, the shop's sales manager.

"Do you need something?"

"Yes. I have to buy ingredients to brew potions." Heinald nodded.

"Alright, what ingredients do you need?" Hamber asked.

Heinald purchased the ingredients for his Low Level Healing Potion with all his 300 Arkana Stones. It was already night when he returned to the mansion, and he spent a few hours contemplating the inferences he had made while trying to make the Medium Level Strength Potion. Then he visualized the making process of the potion again and analyzed how he could correct the mistakes he made in the making process. Through the Moon Thief's eyes, he was able to fully visualize the process of making the potion.

Besides his perfect eyesight, his perfect memory was undoubtedly his greatest advantage.

"When I have enough Arkana Stones, I'll try to make the Medium Level Strength Potion again. Until then, I will simulate the making phase of the potion in my mind so that the making phase goes much easier for me."

Heinald lay down on his bed and thought about these before he went to sleep.

For the next 15 days, his only job was brewing the Low-Level Healing Potion without any breaks except for food and going to the library. Before he went to sleep at night, he repeatedly envisioned the making of the Medium Level Strength Potion. He brewed 20 Low-Level Healing Potions in total with all the ingredients he bought.

He placed the potions properly in his bag and set out for Rinemoth's Claw to sell the potions.

When he came to the front of the shop, he would enter, but was stopped by an Apprentice Ainsar, whom he did not know.

"Greetings! My name is Henra, would you like to join our Starfall Group?"

Heinald exemined Apprentice Ainsar, who appeared almost his age.He had round glasses and short blond hair.He had a tall and slightly muscular body.

"Starfall Group?" Heinald had never heard of it before.

"Yes, it is an interest group that gathers Apprentice Ainsars like you and me. As you know, we need a lot of resources to develop. That's why we're huddling together and looking for lost treasures or hunting various creatures and selling their limbs. Here, take this, the location we will meet if you want to participate, it is written on it." Henra held out a wrapped paper, then said goodbye and walked away.

"Maybe I'll have a look sometime." Heinald muttured.

Hamber was arranging the window when he entered the shop. When he saw Heinald,he came to his side.

"I have potions to sell." Heinald smiled at Hamber, who came towards him.

"Oh?You must have brought Low-level Healing Potions.I remember you bought a lot of ingredients last time." Hamber glanced at the bag full of potions.

"Right. I've been working for the last half month, I've managed to brew 20 potions." Heinald put the bag on the table and opened it.

"What? How did you manage to produce 20 potions in such a short amount of time?" Hamber shouted in surprise.

"With a busy pace of work, sir ... What would I gain for these twenty potions?" Heinald pointed to the potions.

Hamber checked the potions one by one and confirmed that they were all Low-Level Healing Potions. Heinald sold 20 potions for a total of 660 Arkana Stones. Normally they all kept 600 Arkana Stones, but were paid 10% more for every potion he sold to the family.
