Chapter 16: Hunters aren't Fun (1)

The hunters turned around and ran away, causing Neban to sigh even further as he used [Shadow Web] to capture them and [Shadow Gas] to knock them out.

The hunters did not have time to react because everything moved too quickly for them to catch. Neban did not turn around to see them hanging on the web, unconscious, as he looked towards the frozen porters.

"Stay here, and keep not moving," Neban spoke as he summoned Siren into his hand. The weapon was vibrating in excitement for being out.

'Let's kill the creature, you human. I am hungry.' Siren told him.

Neban hummed before he rushed forward as he swiftly swung his weapon, getting ready to hit the Aifin, but the monster's weapon caught his.

Even though the Aifin used more force than him, Neban did not budge as he caused the monster to stop. The Aifin was trying to add more weight, but they could not move. Neban could see how the creature's arms were shaking from trying to move him.

The Aifin grew furious at not pushing the human down, so they moved back, making space between themselves and Neban.

Neban could hear the disappointment in Siren's tone as it did not get to slice the monster at all, but he stopped listening when he felt something thin-like grabbing his wrist and ankle. As he pulled his arm up to look at what was holding him, it pulled him up like a puppet getting ready to dance.

He did not make a noise as the thin string pulled him up; Neban looked towards the monster, seeing how the Aifin had strings wrapped around each finger (except the thumb). When they moved their fingers, the lines tightened around his wrist, drawing blood.

Even then, Neban did not react.

He called up [Shadow Fire], only to see the strings absorbing the fire. The Aifin looked smug as they pulled again, stretching out Neban's arms so that they could rip it off.

Neban started to furrow his brows at the pain sparking through him from his arms, getting stretch past its limits; he tried to ignore the pain as he looked down at the ground. 'I will play the summoner, then.' He thought.

[Earth Golems x4]

Small parts of the ground started to shake as it broke apart, only to come together to form a golem. When the shaking started, the Aifin looked towards the floor to see what was happening, causing them to loosen their grip a bit.

When the earth golems finished forming, they all rushed forward, attacking the monsters as they stabbed their hardened weapons at the Aifin's legs and stomach. The creature screamed out, dropping the strings altogether as it hit the golems away; the golems flew, hitting the walls before getting back up with cracks in them as they advanced on the monster once again.

Once the strings disappeared, Neban dropped to the ground; he rolled before flipping himself to his feet as he kept a tight grip on Siren, who was complaining.

'How dare you let your stupid little creatures draw the first blood. That was my job; my honor, you idiotic human!' Siren fussed as it started to steam out a dark aura.

Neban ignored the weapon as he watched the Aifin crush all of his golems, smashing them to the ground with their fist as they created cracks on the floor. He was surprised that the monster hadn't taken the hardened weapons in their legs and stomach out yet, but he pushed that thought back as he made his way to the creature.

He swung Siren with a quickness, not giving the monster enough time to react as they put their arms up to block the hit without their weapon. Siren practically sang when the sword cut marks into the Aifin's arms. Neban scooted back, taking Siren with him as blood slowly dripped down from the weapon's tip to the handle.

It was vibrating as it sucked in the blood, making it disappear until Siren left a clean blade. The aura started to glow brighter, or darker since it was black, as the sword began to beg, 'More. Give me more!'

Neban obeyed as he attacked the monster, and when he saw the Aifin summoning its strings again, Neban called the dead creatures that they left behind.

[Risen Death x8]

His weapon hit against the strings as Siren could not cut them, but the sword did hold it back before it could capture him. The Aifin moved his fingers, causing the lines to curve around Siren, reaching for his throat.

It did not connect as four undead Chitras moved in the middle, blocking the path as the strings caught them instead. The other four Chitras he summoned were flying around the Aifin's head, making the monster try to swat them away.

Due to the movements, the strings were erratically moving around, causing Neban to look for a shadow spot. When he found one, he used [Shadow Travel], moving away from the lines entirely.

He watched the Chitras that were getting cut from the movement of the strings. The other ones were getting hit to the ground when the Aifin would successfully swat them down.

Neban was in luck with the Chitras being in this dungeon because they were one of the fastest monsters that were a bit small while having the ability to fly. There were no unique attributes to them, but M-levels and lowers had a hard time killing them due to their speed and ability to fly.

Getting ready to travel back to the monster since Siren was becoming annoying, Neban stopped in his tracks when he saw that the Aifin was missing. He looked away for one second, and the creature seemed to disappear out of nowhere.

He walked forward, only to quickly turn, in a fluid motion, as he blocked a hit coming towards him. The sounds of weapons clashing resonated in the area as they loudly clanged against each other.

'Oh, the monster can teleport itself. How interesting.' Siren sounded like it was mocking the Aifin.

The monster disappeared again as Neban moved back, sticking out his free hand as he grabbed the kick that was coming towards him when the Aifin reappeared.

Neban had keened senses, even if he wasn't using [Absolute Sense], to intercept most surprise attacks. So, no matter how much the Aifin tried to surprise attack him, he will catch it unless the monster started to use their strings again.

With the monster's leg in his hand, Neban turned the Aifin around before throwing it to the wall on the other side. There was a loud thud sound when the creature's back hit the wall, and from the corner of Neban's eye, he saw the porters flinching at the noise.

Surprisingly, they were still in their same spot, not moving at all; anyone would mistake them for statues.

'Stop looking at the other humans. The creature is down; feed me its blood. I cannot use my powers until I am full.' Siren told him.

'And will the Aifin make you full?' Neban asked as he walked over to the monster; the Aifin shook their head as they were pushing themselves up.

'No, I need 142 high-level creatures' blood before I can use them. Now, shut up and kill the thing.' Siren answered.

Neban shrugged at that, already planning to sneak into some dungeons by himself to feed Siren; he was curious on what kind of powers that the sword had.

As the monster was close to standing up, Neban had the tip of the sword pointing at their throat, causing the Aifin to stop short. The creature looked down at the weapon, getting ready to grab it and break it, but when they got an exact look (more of a sense since they are blind) at it, the Aifin started to freak out.

"D-demon." The monster stuttered, finally speaking (no hunter knew if the Aifin could talk) as they moved their body into the cracked wall, trying to become one with it.

Neban tilted his head, holding off on killing the monster as he was curious about the Aifin's reaction. 'Why did they call you a demon?' He asked Siren.

'Kill the damn thing already.'

'Why did it call you a demon? The last monster said you could end the world. What is so special about you?'

'Kill.'

'I can ask the monster if you won't answer.'

'KILL THE DAMN FUC-'

Neban stabbed the sword into the shaking monster's throat, effectively shutting up Siren. His head was throbbing from the weapon's scream; he wanted to burn the thing as he glared at it.

Siren did not say anything as it started to suck in the blood from the now-dead Aifin. The weapon was practically vibrating as the dark aura was surrounding it, making steam come off it.

Neban wondered when the sword got its powers back, would the aura mean something. He sighed, rubbing his head as he let go of the weapon, letting it stay in the Aifin's throat so it could finish up eating.

He backed up before walking away from his weapon to check on the others, who were still frozen (honestly, he was amazed at that). Plus, he needed to think about what to do with the hunters: change their memories again or kill them?

'Maybe I should ask the others?' He thought once he was in front of them.
