The Record Of Barton's Fantastical Events

Chapter 45

Chapter 45: Chapter 11 Teenagers

The rhythm of high school is like a well-organized swarm of bees. The boys and girls that stormed out of the classroom after the bell rang looked at the three strangers curiously, and then stormed into another classroom before the bell rings again.

“Lola, Benjamin and I will check some other places.” They had already checked the most places of Raiput High School, and with their senses, Zach and Benjamin have already confirmed that Kyle was not here, at least not indoors.

“Oh, all right.” Lola looked at Benjamin with a somewhat disappointed and relieved expression and then left with Alice.

“Huh? That’s surprisingly easy.” Benjamin raised an eyebrow, thinking it would take him some time to get away.

Zach glanced sideways, watching them leave. Lola whispered something in Alice’s ear. Then the doubt that he and Benjamin both had was solved. Lola was taking Alice to her cheerleading club. Pretty girls with short skirts, things like that…

“Did you find them?” Zach smiled, stopped thinking about this, and asked Benjamin. Smell is sometimes more useful than other senses, especially when it comes to finding people.

Benjamin touched his nose. “Yes, Kyle and Connor, both on the playground.”

Benjamin, who had already noticed the strangeness of those two during last weekend’s game at Fenway Stadium, remembered their smells as he entered the players’ lounge. Originally, they thought that after they found that report three years ago, this thing would be over, but now it seemed like they still needed to use it.

Zach asked dubiously, “Is Kyle still on the team?”

Benjamin smiled and headed straight for the playground. They would find that out soon.

When they got to the playground, they soon saw Connor, who was in training. Benjamin pointed to the corner of the stands outside the playground and hidden by the guardrail. Zach squinted. The sun dulled the vampire’s feeling, but he still saw the big boy hiding in the corner.

Two people exchanged a look and decided to split up. Benjamin went to the coach who was coaching the players on the playground. He needed to get to know the teacher first and then looked for an opportunity to talk to Connor. Zach took his last sip of coffee and walked to where Kyle was.

“You know, if you want to keep an eye on him, it’s better to stay on the rugby team.” Zach stood behind the boy squatting in the corner.

Kyle who only paid attention to the playground suddenly trembled. He turned around, lost his balance, and then leaned on the guardrail in panic. Half sitting, he looked at the person who suddenly appeared near him.

“Were your legs numb?” Zach crouched down, watching Kyle struggle to get up several times, “That’s what happens when you stay in the same position for an hour,” Zach held Kyle down. “There is no need to rush to get up. I have some questions for you, you can answer them right here.”

“Who are you? !” Kyle looked at Zach. “I’m not watching anyone! I’m just… just resting here!”

Typical denial, Zach curled his lip. “Zachary Grande, you can call me Zach. Brother of Lola’s friend, we’ve met twice already.”

“Okay, Zach! Nice to meet you!” Kyle held the guardrail with his arms, which are much stronger than the people of his age, struggling to stand up: “If there is nothing else, I have to go back to class!”

Zach didn’t stop him. After all, it is not bad for him to leave this place. Staying away from the afternoon sun and going inside makes it easier for him to use his vampire ability. Zach’s sense of lethargy finally subsided as he followed the limping Kyle away from the stands and toward the inside of the school building.

“Why are you following me!” Kyle spotted Zach was following him, he shouted irritably. His voice echoed in the corridors of the teaching building. It’s class time and these two are the only people in the hallway.

“I just have some questions to ask you.” Zach looked at the back of this teenager, whose hand was on his still numb thigh, trying to walk faster. “do you know any places that are quieter than this? After all, my next question has something to do with Connor, or the old Connor.”

Kyle’s body froze, he turned around, staring at Zach in shock.

Zach nodded satisfactorily, smiled, and asked, “Do you know any place?”

Kyle stared at Zach’s gentle smile, frowned, silent for a moment before lowering his voice, fiercely said: “Leave me alone!”

Zach’s smile froze, and Kyle limped around the corner while he continued to hold his leg.

“Hmmm…” Zach stopped smiling, stroking his chin, and frowned. The vampire was now wondering, why would Kyle refuse? He had made it clear that he knew something that could threaten Kyle, offered goodwill, and offered to have a private conversation.

Having something on someone and then showing goodwill, this is a great way to start friendly cooperation. It works on James, it works on Mrs. Quinn, and it has always been like this in the three hundred years or four hundred years of the vampire’s life. But Kyle refused. Why?

Zach looked sideways at a row of lockers along the corridor. Graffiti, stickers, self-statements… Zach shook his head helplessly, thinking that this time, the other side was a teenager, an impulsive, stubborn, and rule-breaking teenager. The idea of wanting to be a rugby player under the name of Barton speaks for itself.

Zach sighed. Originally, he didn’t want to use force.

The vampire’s shadow streaked across the corridor, Kyle, who was slowly climbing the stairs, felt something was holding him from behind, then all the things in his field of vision turned and flipped! When things became clear again before his eyes, he found the world was upside down!

Something lifted his right foot in midair, and before Kyle could struggle, a pair of red eyes caught his full attention!

“Now, will you take me to a secret place? The answer is yes.”

Kyle, who was turned upside down, nodded blankly, “Yes.”

Outside the playground, a group of sweaty young men had spotted the man talking and laughing with their coach. Thanks to this hairy creature, they had a chance to slouch for a while.

The beavers are playing their second league game the day after tomorrow, but the coach’s ‘tough love’ was making these boys miserable despite the fact that they could skip the afternoon class by training.

“Hey! Connor!” Coach waved to a person: “Come here! You’ve got yourself a fan! Come and meet this gentleman!”

The boys looked at their team leader, who was running toward the coach with envy. On the court, the most attractive spot is always the quarterback!

“See!” The middle-aged coach, leaving the two behind, made his way to the players who had just relaxed a bit. After a sharp whistle, he pointed at Benjamin and Connor with his brawny arm. “This is what you want! To be remembered by others! Have your own supporters! To be admired!”

This is a perfect opportunity to give such a speech!

“Look!” The coach pointed at Connor, “That’s the guy who will be remembered! The quarterback! The Star on the field! Not you! But why? Tell Me. Why not you?”

No one spoke, just sweaty faces and heaving chests.

“No one wants to say anything? Huh?I’ll tell you! Because you’re not trying hard enough!” The coach glared at the boys whose faces had regained their fighting spirit and waved his hands. “Run! Run faster! Yes! That’s what you want! Look at him! Break your limits!…”

Benjamin turned his eyes away from the young people on the training ground and smiled at Connor, who was still breathing heavily and looking at him somewhat confused. “It’s good to see you. I want to talk to you about something. Can we go to the locker room?”

“Connor” looked at this tall, muscular, strange man, the temporary pass on his chest indicating that he wasn’t from Raiput High School. Some college scout? “Conor” nodded excitedly, turning his body sideways to say, “This way.”

Benjamin followed him to the locker room on the side of the training ground. “Just to be clear, I’m not a scout.”

Connor turned his head in confusion and the little excitement that had just risen vanished. “Uh, then who are you, Sir?”

“Werewolf.” Benjamin blinked and put his hands on the young man who wanted to flee, “Keep going, Connor. Maybe I should call you, Ryan Gale.”

“What do you want!” Connor was held down by Benjamin and pushed forward. Even without the use of alpha skin, Benjamin is still stronger than an 18-year-old!

“Don’t be nervous.” Benjamin went on, “Just to make sure of something. I’ve lived in Barton City for many years, I didn’t want to get into trouble before, and I don’t want one now.”
