The Simple Life of Killing Demons

Book 12: Chapter 100

Book 12: Chapter 100

Surprisingly, the instigators have retreated, I’m truly speechless right now,’ Freed remarked with a hint of sarcasm.

"Hey, Freed, they left using teleportation magic. Can’t believe it’s actually possible to teleport to the world beyond the skies from here. If they can teleport here from the world beyond the skies, then it’ll be troublesome!" Lin Xiang was shocked to the point where he started directly expressing his thoughts.

No worries, the one they used isn't teleportation magic. Although its principle is similar to teleportation magic, the scroll can only teleport to a corresponding receptor. There's no corresponding receptor in the demon realm, so they can only go back and can't return unless another sacrifice occurs. The current problem is how to deal with this fellow, Augustine.

As they were facing an enemy capable of absorbing the energy of other living beings, every spirit engaged in battle felt fear from the depths of their hearts.

However, evasion was pointless. With such a formidable enemy freely absorbing energy in the demon realm, it was only a matter of time before the creature reached their doorstep. The spirits were well aware of that fact.

Therefore, if Yalide had not asked them to leave, they would not have retreated. They would choose to fight to the death, but Yalide kept insisting they leave, saying that staying there to be absorbed would only accelerate the creature's recovery. Thus, Wind Fury ordered everyone to retreat.

Silent Water, Reidy, and the others were reluctant to leave. They wanted to stay and help Lin Xiang, but how could Lin Xiang let them stay after witnessing the terror of Augustine?

He tried his best to make them understand that he would be fine, being a half-dragon with dragon energy in his body. They were only relieved when they learned that Augustine could not absorb him.

"Master, please be careful."

"Yes, Silent Water, I will."

"This noble lady, I…I'm still waiting for you to cook for me," said Reidy.

"Alright. After all this is over, I'll make a good meal for everyone to taste."

"Tsk…"

"Master, if you can't defeat him, just call me, and I'll help Master bite him to death!"

"There’s no need to bite, Dusty, you can't get close to him."

"Got it~"

"Hmph, although I don't like you, you better be careful. If you die in battle, Fire Dance will be devastated. I don't want to see Fire Dance sad."

"Of course."

After saying their goodbyes, Silent Water and the others reluctantly left with the rest of the group. However, it was not a simple departure. Reggie ordered everyone to form small groups to chase after the panicked spirits and prevent them from being harmed by the remaining demonic creatures.

Just like that, the spirits from the south retreated.

Augustine was not going to let all that energy escape, but he was currently being surrounded by the spirit elders. Every time he released his tentacles, they would be cut, preventing him from capturing and absorbing the spirits.

"Not bad, all of you… are not bad. I look forward to absorbing your energy and restoring myself to my former glory." Augustine looked at the elders as his eyes glowed in a greedy light, like a hunter eyeing prey that could not escape.

Absorbing an elder would be more effective than absorbing thousands of spirits.

"Evil creature, once we kill you, we'll hang your corpse in front of the demon abyss for your companion to admire!" Illusion gave a cold sneer and swiftly formed seals, causing many shadowy figures holding weapons to appear out of thin air.

"Are these illusions? No, they're actual entities." Watching the shadowy figures attacking him, Augustine only chuckled coldly, "Do you think such simple magic can harm me?"

A dark energy shield enveloped his body, and the weapons of the shadowy figures dissipated upon contact, turning into smoke in the air.

"What?" Illusion naturally could not believe that Augustine had easily dispelled his magic, so he continuously released several more.

Firesect and the others also began to take action, releasing magical attacks on Augustine at once.

Augustine's dark energy shield had astonishing defensive power, nullifying all the powerful attacks that landed on it. Moreover, his energy-absorbing tentacles were too eerie, so the spirit elders dared not approach too closely, staying vigilant at all times.

"Hah!" Augustine's hand emitted dark laser beams, sweeping towards Firesect and the others.

As spirit elders, they could not be easily hit. They all avoided the attack, and the dark laser beams shot into the ground without any effect, as if they had not caused any damage at all.

However, in reality, it was not as simple as it seemed.

A royal soldier broke through the demonized spirits and demon soldiers, intending to support the elders, only to be hit by the laser beam.

He paused for a moment and looked at where he had been hit, but there was no wound. Before he could exhale in relief, his entire body shattered like a broken mirror, then turned into black smoke.

"This is…" Raysky was extremely surprised when he saw that. He had previously thought of a self-created technique, the "Lightning Strike." It involved using powerful currents to break down the moisture in living organisms, turning them into ashes. However, the technique was still in the experimental stage because achieving instant moisture breakdown was challenging. However, now that he had witnessed Augustine's dark laser beam, he felt that it was not as difficult as he had imagined. The real challenge lay in whether one had the ability to use and control it.

The demon of the demon clan in front of them was terrifying, yet they were still clueless about what attribute he was using. Light? Dark light?

"Tsk tsk. If this goes on, it’ll take forever. Exercising before finishing my meal is making me even hungrier now." Augustine grew weary of the ongoing battle, so he wanted to absorb energy. Raising his hands shimmering with black light, he clenched them together. His fist, bulging with veins, struck the ground, unleashing a surge of darkness that covered the sky.

"Quick, retreat!" Wind Blade yelled, and the other elders quickly backed away. Moist Water and Darkheart, who were elderly and had slightly reduced mobility, reacted a bit late and were engulfed by the roaring darkness.

It was so dark that the hand could not be seen, as if the whole world had lost its light. Moist Water and Darkheart found themselves in the darkness.

"Be careful, Senior Moist Water." Just before being engulfed by the darkness, Darkheart and Moist Water were close together, leaning against each other.

"We're getting old, aren't we?" Moist Water said somewhat self-deprecatingly.

"Yeah, what do we do now?" Darkheart used a spell, a fluorescent poison magic, to illuminate their surroundings.

Faint light illuminated the dim surroundings, revealing a distance of only three meters. Moist Water and Darkheart looked around to see the barren rocky ground beneath their feet had been covered in dark matter. They tried calling out to Firesect and the others, but there was no response.

"Hehehehe… Welcome, to my belly," Augustine's chilling voice echoed in Moist Water and Darkheart's ears.
