The Simple Life of Killing Demons

Book 12: Chapter 98

Book 12: Chapter 98

The demon abyss emitted an oppressive atmosphere. Its black light, like a bottomless pit, was continuously absorbing the surrounding light sources.

"Ah!!!" A murky roar reverberated through the air, sending shivers down everyone's spine. Whether human, spirit, or the demon clan, their souls felt as though struck by a blunt object, causing their hearts to momentarily stop beating.

"Sigh." Yalide shook her head helplessly, "To think one had emerged. Now, who could it be? There were quite a few sealed away back then."

Yalide stared at the figure appearing in the demon abyss. In the distorted dark matter, the figure swayed and flickered like a candle flame, casting a twisting and elongating shadow.

"Excuse me, is this the Great Demon King?" The demon in charge of the sacrifice flew over to the demon abyss and landed in front of the dark figure.

Since a demon stood in front, the dark figure stopped. Its position was perfectly at the boundary between the dark matter and normal air, so its features were still unclear.

"Pardon, is this the Great Demon King? I am…" Before the demon could say his name, a hand with sharp claws extended from the darkness, grabbing the demon's face and lifting it entirely.

"I am not an enemy, Great Demon King. I am…"

"Snap!" With a single clench, the demon's mask shattered into pieces, bursting with a dark brown liquid.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh.

All the energy within the demon in charge of the sacrifice flowed into the large hand.

The chilling voice resounded once more, spitting out the word "trash." The owner of the voice walked out completely from the dark matter.

Dressed in dark-toned leather armor, it resembled a noble from a foreign place. With a high forehead, ink-black long hair, pale white skin devoid of any blood color, and red eyes without pupils, the figure had well-defined features, but it was clear that he was not a human male. He stepped out of the demon abyss.

"Why did you kill the Demon Lord of Sacrifice?" The black warrior, who could not reach the sacrificial demon clan member in time to rescue him, drew his weapon and aimed it at the male demon clan member.

"Nowadays, are little fellows like you always lacking manners?" The male demon clan member had a solemn expression, exuding an aura of superiority. The way he spoke, the way he looked at others, were condescending, as if he had regarded everyone inferior from the very start.

"I don't know who you are, but my orders are to protect the Demon Lord of Sacrifice. You killing the lord has made it difficult for me to report back."

"In that case, you won't need to send your report." The male demon clan member casually grabbed air, and the wind formed a tiger head. With its ferocious mouth wide open, the tiger head fiercely bit towards the black warrior.

Naturally, the black warrior was not so easily attacked. He stepped back, swinging his dark blade towards the tiger head, shattering it.

"Hmph, as expected, absorbing such trash can't even let me display any strength. I can’t believe I got outsmarted by a mere B-ranked small fry." The male demon clan member chuckled, then looked at the black warrior, "Ah, speaking of which, I should thank you little fish for releasing me. If it were just a bit later, I might have been reduced to ashes by that damn Dragon God's energy. You don't seem weak. To show my gratitude… I'll make you a part of my power."

"You are an ancient demon of the clan, but if you want to fight against me, I'll naturally oblige." The black warrior stepped forward and backward, his dark sword held as high as his nose.

"Heh, you really don't know your place. Although my energy is scarce now, dealing with trash like you… is a piece of cake."

Internal strife was common among the demon clan. Disagreements, or just not the fact that they disliked each other, often led to fights, and once they started, they would not stop until one of them was dead.

"In that case, don't blame me for the impoliteness!" The black warrior took a step forward, wielding his dark blade with a surge of energy.

However, the male demon made no move. He just watched as the dark blade struck him.

"Splat!" Undoubtedly, the dark blade pierced through the male demon's leather armor and entered his shoulder.

"It's a bit painful, but…" After the male demon finished speaking, the black warrior suddenly widened his eyes, his hands trembling as if trying to pull the sword out.

"You…" However, in less than two seconds, the black warrior turned into a cloud of smoke, flying into the male demon's body, and the male demon's wound disappeared. Only the armor and the dark blade lying on the ground proved that the black warrior had existed, much like the demon in charge of the sacrifice.

It turned out that the black warrior did not mean to refuse pulling out the dark blade from the male demon's body. He wanted to let go, yet, no matter what, his hand could not withdraw. It was as if he were being sucked by something as his energy drained rapidly, leading to the occurrence of the previous scene.

"Hoho? [Absorption]. This guy… seems familiar. Who was he again?" Yalide looked at the male demon as she muttered to herself.

Since Yalide was not too far from the male demon, the male demon naturally heard her. He turned his head to the side, glanced at Yalide, and immediately tensed up. "Yalide Darkness! You, how can you be here! This is impossible!"

"If you can come out, why can't I be here?" Yalide never remembered the other's name. After all, he was not a beauty.

Idiot, he's called Augustine.

As Freed reminded her, Yalide finally recalled.

Augustine, an extraordinary demon of the clan who served as a commander of soldiers over a thousand years ago. It seemed he was some kind of duke of the demon clan, holding a high position close to the king. His strength was unquestionable, especially his ability to absorb the energy of other creatures and turn it into his own. A very difficult enemy to deal with.

Since he was the first to come out, then the other demons that were inferior to him were…

"All the other fellows that have lower ranks than you have died, right?"

"Hehehe, that’s correct. I really didn't expect you gods to have such a last resort. Without just a moment of carelessness, I was sealed away. Not to mention, as time passes, the seal has the capability to weaken our demonic power till we’re dead due to depletion. It's been at least a thousand years now, and many companions from the past have died one after another because of the devouring of the seal." Augustine gazed at Yalide for a while, then suddenly burst into laughter. "What's this? Compared to before, your energy difference is too vast. With my current self, killing you is a piece of cake!"

"Do you think you can do it?" Yalide's lips curved upwards.

"What do you think?" Augustine absorbed the black warrior, so he restored some energy. Black energy burst out from him, forming small tentacles that spread out around him.

"Splat!" The tentacles pierced the bodies of the demon soldiers, causing them to become thin. Soon, like deflating balloons, they became limp with only a layer of skin and bones left, lying on the ground.
