The Soul System in the Apocalypse

Chapter 36: Rampage

Chapter 36: Rampage

A huge cloud of dust was formed, blocking the vision of those that were observing from the distance. Since they had already moved quite a distance away from the entrance of the facility, it was going to take about 1 minute for the monsters to arrive before them.

For that reason, during the time that Henry began attacking, there was still a distance between them. And during his attacks, the monsters that were in forefront were the ones which were targeted most.

It was only after about 4 minutes that finally, the dust cleared away. And what appeared in front of them stunned everyone.

The scene that had appeared in front of them was no different from a catastrophe. It was as if an earthquake had occurred and the ground had been ruined.

Due to the sheer power of the fire arrows, the ground had been greatly devastated. An area within 500 m of the attacks range had been reduced into a crater. Charred corpses of the monsters that had suffered from the attack laid on the ground, while in the surrounding areas, there were some that were already whimpering in pain.

Any building that was within the range of 500 meters had collapsed to the ground. And, the debris had been reduced into a heap of sand.

It was only during this moment that Henry finally realized the power of three star skills. The damage that had already been caused by the skill was enough to terrify anyone. And, that was a crowd control skill.

That implied that, inside each arrow that was shot from the circle that had appeared in the sky, the amount of power was evenly distributed within each arrow. But, what if all the arrows were combined into a single attack? One could already imagine the amount of destructive power that the arrow would possess.

It was only during this moment that Henry finally realized the reason as to why the system said that, he could only access three star skills simply because there was an offer from the system.

And if this was the power of a three-star skill, Henry could already begin imagining the power that a four star skill was going to possess, wonder he was not able to get the skill in the system with the currency that he possessed.

As the group was still trying to process what had just happened, the group of monsters that had already began scattering around began gathering together once again. But this time, the ferociousness within their eyes had already reduced.

All these monsters that were attacking during the monster tide's second wave, were at least at level four. And for that reason, they had managed to regain their sentience. And with that, they always try to retreat as long as they detected that there was danger.

And at this moment, they had already realized that what they were facing was not something easy. And for that reason, had it not been for the mysterious force that was holding them there, they would have definitely retreated into the forest.

[Congratulations on leveling up to level 6 of the warlock profession.]

Henry who was still trying to think about the mysterious power of the system was interrupted by the appearance of a prompt in front of him. And in the next moment, he felt that inside his body, the energy drastically increased.

At the same time, he felt that the power present in his muscles had also been increased, increasing his strength. His vision also gained much clarity as compared to before. It was obvious that with each level that he improved, he was going to gain improvement in all the areas that concerned his profession.

During the previous attack, Henry was sure that he had killed at least 1,000 monsters. But surprisingly, he had only managed to level up once. That implied that, the low-level monsters were not enough for him to level up. And for that reason, he would have to find the monsters that were at a higher level.

Henry felt that the energy that he had spent previously had already been recovered completely. At that moment, he wanted to use the fire arrow skill once again, but decided against it.

If he decided to do something like that, and managed to clear all the monsters that had come during this wave, wouldn't leave the group that was behind him without anything to fight and get strong?

After thinking about it, since he was currently in need of a group of people that could be under his command, then, he decided that it was better to leave something for them. For that reason, as he saw that the monsters were about to charge towards them again, he prepared to attack using his sword.

Olivia squinted her eyes as she looked at Henry. At that moment, she finally realized why she had been getting a special feeling from him. It was obvious that he was not an ordinary person, and the amount of attack power that he had released was enough to prove that.

She frowned as she looked at him. Then, she turned her gaze and looked at Sarah who was looking at Henry with shining eyes. A mysterious glint flashed through her eyes before it disappeared in the next moment.

There was no need for her to think if there was a relationship between Henry and Sarah at all. After all, considering that the two were wearing a set of armor that looked alike, she believed that they were related to one another.

As where they had gotten the armor from, that was something that she had been planning to ask Sarah after the second wave. She was quite curious about the armor, as well as where the monsters that they had dealt with had disappeared to.

Just from looking at how the armors on their body were, it was obvious that they were not of low quality.

When she saw that the group of monsters was about to charge towards them, she immediately dispelled all the other thoughts as she only thought about getting stronger.

Unlike the others who believed that this was just a game, her mindset had already been altered during the first attack that had been launched on the facility. She had utilized that chance to get to the level that she was in, a level 6 ice mage. And she wasn't just any mage, but a battle mage.

Roar!

With the roar of a lion that was taking the lead, the other monsters that were following behind immediately released a cry that was unique to their species before they charged towards the group of humans in front of them.

Henry's eyes squinted, as he immediately began mobilizing the energy in his body. He wasn't willing to waste time with this group of monsters that was at a very low level as compared to him.

For that reason, the moment that he came into contact with the group of monsters, he began slashing them as if he was cutting vegetables.

Currently, his aim was the group of monsters that was behind. Those were the monsters that had already reached level 6. And since he himself was already a level 6, those monsters were the ones that were going to be suitable for his leveling up.

Having the intention of reaching the next rank as the first person, Henry didn't hold back at all. The energy in his body that was getting consumed, continuously recovered with the number of monsters that he killed.

As he was charging forward, he suddenly realized that there was yet another person that was doing the same thing as him. In fact, it wasn't just one person, but three people.

And the one who was taking the lead was the mysterious lady, Olivia. She was holding an iron sword in her hand, and the sword was enveloped in an icy aura.

With every single swing of her sword, the level 4 monsters would immediately be slashed into pieces. This made Henry to squint his eyes once again. He couldn't help but wonder where the competition came from.

This was the first time that he was seeing a mage who was actually fighting head-on with monsters. And, she was actually utilizing both the mage and warrior path.

This suddenly gave him an idea. Mobilizing the energy in his body, he suddenly decided to use the sword that he was holding in his hand as a conductor of fire.

The sword blade immediately began turning red. And in the next moment, as he attacked the monster that appeared in front of him, not only was the monster slashed into two pieces, but it's body immediately caught fire.

What happened next immediately flabbergasted him. That was the fact that, after fire ignited on the body of the monster, it didn't die down until the monster was burnt to ashes, leaving behind a red bead on the ground.

Even though it was true that this was something that was worth celebrated, Henry couldn't help but feel his heart ache. The reason behind that was simple, he had suffered a loss. Had he sold the body of the monster to the system, that was the same as him earning a level four mutation crystal.

Even though he was wailing in his heart at the loss, he didn't stop massacring the monsters that were around him, as he continuously charged towards the back of the group of monsters.

As the group charged towards the back of the monster wave, the group of youths and ladies that was left behind also began working hard to fight the monsters in front of them. They too wanted to get as strong as the ones that were taking the lead.

What Henry and the group didn't notice, was the fact that, as they began killing relentlessly, something magical happened. At the very back of the group of monsters, another monster magically appeared.
