Chapter 440: Whatever You Say, Acorn
.....
"Mr. Morningstar, you may make the first move since the announcer has already told us we could begin."
The gruff voice of the man in the tunic interrupted Azmond's train of thought.
Azmond looked up from the ground and saw the passive, aggressive look that his 'opponent' was giving him.
Furthermore, it was clear that this dude was underestimating him with how relaxed his posture was.
And there was also that conceited and pompous smirk plastered across his face
It was a smile that Azmond really felt like wiping off him!
Nevertheless, even though this guy was annoying, and even in spite of the fact that he had drunkenly fought his way through a part of the preliminaries, Azmond calmed his hasty hand.
After all, he still had to keep up his edge-lord facade, and luckily for him, his drunk self had made sure to make a better disguise before going out to fight.
It was through these actions of his past self that he now had a silly and almost dead-looking appearance
'...Why the hell do I look like a walking corpse?' Azmond asked himself with a confused look on his face.

He looked down at his frail hands before scanning through the rest of his body, and after doing this, he understood what his drunk self was thinking.
'The classic 'play the pig to eat the tiger' part, huh? Fine, old me, I will finish what you began,' Azmond thought with a small smirk on his face.
Following this discovery and newfound objective, he turned his neutral gaze in the direction of his opponent.
"You said your name was?" Azmond asked.
"...It's Acros. Did you not even read the match-up board? And it was mentioned not even a few seconds ago by the announcer" The man in the tunic responded with a twitching smile.
This was going to be a quick and glorious win for him, and yet this weakling really had the nerve to not even remember his name??
Azmond scrutinized the look on Acros's face before he said, "Uhmm... Sure, whatever you say, Acorn."
*Pop!*
A vein appeared on the head of Acros as he looked in the direction of Azmond with a 'friendly' smile and thought, 'You're so f*cking dead.'
A few minutes passed, and Mr. Acorn was found lying on the hard squared surface of their fighting ring.
His face was bruised up quite badly, while the rest of his body was not faring any better, as one would begin to think that he had been attacked by a bear
On the other hand, Morningstar stood over the unconscious body of Mr. Acorn with a wide grin on his face.
But since he had to play his part to perfection, he fell to the ground not long after, his expression one of extreme anguish!
"Ahhh! You nearly bested me, Mr. Acorn-!" Azmond screamed out before he was interrupted by the announcer, saying:
"His name is Acros, Sir."
"Yeah, yeah, sure," Azmond responded to the announcer before he turned his head in Acros's direction and said, "You were a tough opponent! You nearly took me down with that last whatchamacallit attack! Arghh! Pain, agony!
We shall meet again, Mr. Acorn!"
Azmond fell to the ground with a bloodied and bruised face as he lay there for a second before slowly getting up and limping off the five hundred meter-wide fighting ring.
The announcer looked at this sight with disbelieving eyes, as he had never seen someone so ridiculous in all his years of working in the Coliseum of Dacratas.

Meanwhile, in the VIP stands above the expansive area that encapsulates the fighting part of the Coliseum.
"None of your daughters are participating this time around, Marina?" A corpulent man with a round belly asked with a spiteful smirk on his face.
His eyes sometimes traced down the curves of the Queen, as he always found himself yearning for that deliciously seductive body of hers.
Marina turned her ice-cold gaze in the direction of the King of SunBurn Kingdom as she snorted a little before saying, "That's none of your business, My Lord.
But if you are so adamant on talking about the ongoings of the younger generation, then why don't we speak about how your second eldest son was rejected at the annual Celestial Academy recruiting event?"
Adam SubBurn's expression darkened at the mention of his son's folly as he remembered why he hated this woman so much.
In his opinion, the only thing that Marina was good for was that child-bearing body of hers. For that reason alone, he was quite envious of Broccoli, getting to enjoy her whenever he felt like it.
'If only Brother Broccoli were here right now, then I'd be able to reel in this stupid woman a little. The last time we had spoken, he said that he would help me tie down his wife and sleep with her,' Adam thought with a slightly annoyed look on his face.
Broccoli promised to help Adam when it came to bedding Marina, but now, where was that brother of his when he really needed him!?
As Adam's thoughts were swirling around inside his head, he had unknowingly let Marina focus her attention on something else instead of him.
Marina was staring intently at a sickly figure limping out of a fighting ring as she giggled a little with a lovely smile playing on her lips.
"!!!" King Adam SubBurn was beyond irritated by this sight as he tried to follow her gaze and figure out what was more important for Marina than him.
However, when he looked down, he saw nothing
The sickly man Marina was staring at had already vanished without a trace
Meanwhile, on another side of the VIP stands, a young, beautiful woman with long blue hair and blue eyes was staring off into the distance with a look of longing in her gaze.
"..."
Aqua was completely ignoring the fights going on down below, as the only thing occupying her mind was the 'angel' she had met all those years ago.
If she had it her way, she would be cultivating right now, preparing to go and meet her husband, but her mother's persistence in telling her to 'upkeep face' by coming out to gatherings like these forced her to leave seclusion.
"It wasn't enough that I had to marry that bastard, but now I have to attend meaningless gatherings like these" She lamented with a disgruntled expression.
Aqua was getting tired of being bossed around by her mother. But in the end, she was stronger than her, so there was nothing she could do
