Chapter 10 Next Step
Although he only met and greeted them a few times with good mornings and good afternoons, Aion was called by his father to say goodbye to two of his elder and half sisters. They were ten years old and they were heading to the magic school. In order for the students to learn and improve as much as possible, they had to live in the dormitory of the magic school and return home once a week.
"That is weird… if they were learning magic, I guess they only could learn the very basics using books," Aion thought.
At that point in time, Lexus' wife and concubines had gotten used to Aion walking around the house and since it was tiresome to look at him with digust and anger, they began to ignore him. That was greatly appreciated… moreover, two of them were crying while watching the girls going away in the carriages. It wasn't like they were going to another kingdom and they would be back in six days, but then again, Aion couldn't think like that since he wasn't a mother.
Soon enough, those mothers were going to feel like that again because soon their boys also were going to become ten years old and they could join the army as helpers and apprentices of some commands. Usually, they would become literal aids of the commanders, serving them food, cleaning their clothes and similar things. However, due to the rank of the Kresnik family, they would focus on learning more things related to the job.
"In one week, we are going to depart and clear a low ranked dungeon," Lexus declared. "You two have completed your basic training, but you are lacking when it comes to real combat experience, use this chance to learn as much as possible and prepare yourselves accordingly."
Occasionally, some dungeons would be left alone because they would be easily destroyed if people wanted. Still, to boost the economy of the kingdom, such practices were necessary.

Putting that aside, Aion finally has the chance to fight monsters, but he was pretty sure that his father and older half brothers would do most of the fighting. Still, there is no such thing as wasted experience.
"Mama, we are going to a dungeon in one week, is it far away?" Aion asked.
"Already, huh… I don't know the specifics, but it seems that it is only three hours away from the capital," Artemisia replied.
"Mama… why can't you leave the house?" Aion asked.
"I thought it would take a while for you to ask that, don't worry, though. Your father won't let anything harm you," Artemisia replied. "He is a bit too serious, but he doesn't dislike his children… As for me, there are a lot of people that hates my ancestors and family. Many of them want to see me dead. The king ordered your father to protect me and to make that clear, I became part of his family."
"But you can't leave, even while being part of the family?" Aion asked.
"Yes… there is a small chance that people might try to do something to me despite your father's influence," Artemisia said. "Moreover, the king declared that I should stay here all the time to prevent the incidents that might revive the memories of those that participated in the war."
The king… that complicated things. The Kresnik family was pretty famous, but it wasn't one of the most powerful and couldn't even be compared to the royal family. They had a story of fifteen hundred years, after all. Aion's first goal finally encountered its first obstacle, but he wouldn't give up with only that much.
Usually, a king couldn't change his mind without a good reason, so Aion had to find that good reason… still, his options were limited as of now. He will have to keep doing the usual until he finds some clues to help him with his first goal.
Aion studied and trained diligently until the day of the trip. After not so long, Lexus and the boys of the house were in front of the gate of the mansion. It was the second time that he had crossed the walls of the mansion, but he forgot to pay attention to the surroundings. Actually, there wasn't much to see aside from a few mansions that were a bit smaller than Lexus', they were on the central part and high-class district of the capital, after all.
All of the buildings were made of high quality stones that made Aion recall a darker and more durable type of marble. Truth to be told, he didn't have interest on the life of those who were rich, still, he frowned when his father said that they would walk to the dungeon… he treated everything like a good chance of training.
After a couple of minutes, the group managed to see gold and blue castle in the distance. It was massive, it was practically as big as an town that could have ten thousand ihabitants. It also had some silvers walls that were insanely tall and there were towers nearby and in many points that could be used for defense purposes.
"It seems that someone with the ego on the same size as Jupiter and Gigalmesh's arrogance build that…" Aion thought.
After a few more minutes, they reached the commercial district of the town and while most shops were closed due to the time of the day, Aion managed to see a lot of things. Blacksmiths, inns, taverns, libraries, clothing shops… no wonder that was the largest city of the kingdom. Aion was planning to use that to make a lot of money, he just needed to think of an efficienty way, once he has enough time. He was pretty sure that gold could influence the system, but he didn't know how yet.
