Chapter 25 – The Grand Opening (3)

Chapter 25 – The Grand Opening (3)

The third day after Su Tian had been bringing cheesecakes for Boss Liu, their dessert shop was finally having its grand opening!

That’s what one would call “joy to the world”, especially Wang Haoxue. She was in an excited state all day long.

When Su Tian went to school that day, everybody who ran into her would ask, “So your family’s dessert shop is finally having it’s grand opening?”

Ever since the morning, until that afternoon, Su Tian had lost count of how many times she had responded to that, and sometimes even from girls from a different class.

Su Tian was a pretty girl, plus Wang Haoxue had been babbling about her the whole time. Su Tian had been a well known figure in school a long time ago. Boys in school had secretly crowned her the queen of their school. Last time during physical education class, a few students from a different class even pointed at her and gossiped.

But, no wonder who was asking, or how many times she was asked, Su Tian always responded with a smile and said, “That’s right, it’s the grand opening today.”

She didn’t seem impatient with the questions and had the best temperament of all. She also didn’t try to advertise about the dessert shop like discounts for her schoolmates, or that they should visit the shop often. Just a simple sentence and she was able to make everybody happy.

Even though Su Tian didn’t ask, many of the students had already decided on visiting her shop during lunch time that day. A few of them had even been saving up just for this day.

Wang Haoxue, for example. Liu Kaiyan, for example.

Wang Haoxue brought with her her piggy bank as she pounded on her chest and vowed, “This is the day that I will have more dessert than I can eat!”

Su Tian chuckled when she heard it, “Alright, I will take you to the shop during lunch. You are not leaving the shop until we get every penny out of your piggy bank!”

Liu Kaiyan sat behind them quietly. Gripping his pen, the tip of the pen made a constant rustling sound on a piece of paper.

A cutesy version of a girl appeared slowly under his pen. Her eyes sparkled, full and pouty lips, and fuzzy eyelashes...

Half way through his drawing, he ripped off the piece of paper, tore it up and tossed it into the trash can.

Forget it. He was better off avoiding everyone and visiting the dessert shop by himself.

At the same time, two women were standing outside of Lu’s Walnut Cookies. They were both around 30 or 40 years old with a slightly darker complexion. One of them was, naturally, Li Xiuyun, and the other one was one of her distant cousin, Zhang Ke.

Zhang Ke asked, “So that one is ‘Sweet Summer’?”

Li Xiuyun, “Exactly. The owner is a tramp. I have done some research, it was just her and her daughter at home. There is no men and they don’t know anyone in Luo Cheng. Nobody knows her history.”

“Who cares about her history?”

All she needed to know was that it was just the two of them with nobody to back them. What was the worst a woman with a high-school age daughter could do?

“I will go get someone,” she said.

In their line of business, the risks are low and the profits high. They have always used counterfeit money to scam new shops, and the vendors in the booths by the side of the street with bad eyesight. A high end shops like Sweet Summer, were like a fat sheep waiting to be slaughtered.

Even if Li Xiuyun had not notified her, she would have brought her men over regardless.

Zhang Ke made a call and have one of her men go and check out the situation.

There’s a term for that, it’s called “casing the place”. That way when the actual person went in and do the deed, he wouldn’t get caught.
