Chapter 133
Chapter 133
“And we have arrived,” Kayda said, jumping in front of us, happily lifting her arms up in the air.
“Sigh, your yukata is going to get loose, Kayda, rawr,” I said, sighing. Looking to the front, past Kayda, you could see hundreds of stalls in the area where we had fought devils not even a week ago and in the middle of all this. Was a giant rose still burning with golden flames? My ‘masterpiece’ as An called it.
Oh, right, there was also snow everywhere, 30 centimetres of snow. At least the walkways in the festival were clear of any snow. It must have been shovelled before the time.
“Oh right, you don’t want me to undo it, isn’t that right, Kitsu~,” Kayda said, looking at me seductively.
‘That’s not it.’ I thought, flustered.
“Hey, hey, we have kids here.” An complained from next to me.
“Y-Yeah Kayda, how can you... hey, why the fuck are you giving Kayda that look!” I said stutter until I realized Katie herself was star-struck because of Kayda.
“Cough, sorry, her smile just surprised me,” Katies said, trying to explain herself very quickly.
.....
“Tch, you come here, rawr,” I said, ignoring Katie. I walked up to Kayda, grabbed- her wing, and dragged her off, leaving the two demons behind.
“Hey, don’t just grab my wing,” Kayda said before her voice died down in her throat seeing my expression.
‘She really is seriously pissed right now.’ Kayda thought, ashamed.
“Now that we are alone. We can enjoy ourselves better.” I said, letting go of her wing when we got into the festival.
‘Fucken bastard dumb demoness she isn’t avail-.’ I thought only to stop a doomsday of a rabbit hole happening in my head.
“Kitsu, I am sorry,” Kayda said, looking down, ashamed.
“...” Not responding to her, I took her hand and inter tined our fingers.
“Eh!” Surprised at my gesture, Kayda looked up at me before back at our hands.
‘Oh god, please don’t make me die of a heart attack.’ I thought, feeling my heart rate pick up at an inhuman pace. Think a bit more. I started to reinforce my illusion over my body.
“Come on, if we don’t start now, we won’t be able to visit every stall. I am also quite hungry, rawr~.” I said, keeping an emotionless expression. Well, making the illusion portray that.
“Hehe.” Not answering, my Kayda started giggling to herself happily.

“Sigh, at least we got a giant budget for today, rawr,” I said, nodding ignoring her childlike giggling next to me.
“Okay, so what do you want to eat?” Kayda asked, tilting her head and smiling.
“Don’t know you’ve been to this kind of thing before. But Festival food, I guess, rawr?” I said, shrugging.
“Okay, so candy apples,” Kayda said, making my face scrunch up in disgust.
“That sounds like it is going to be too sweet for me,” I said, shaking my head in denial.
“Oh, come on, just try it,” Kayda said, dragging me at hand.
“Tch fine, I will try it, rawr,” I said, giving up.
“Yay! Let’s go then before they are sold out.” Kayda said, picking up the pace.
‘There is no way there won’t be any left already. The festival just started.’ I thought, sighing to myself.
[5 minutes later]
“There are only 3 left, huh?” I said, looking at the 3 apples on a stick in front of me with a questionable gaze. Looked up at stared at the stall owner, who stared back at me with a giant smile.
“2 or just one candy apple?” The stall owner said, looking down at Kayda and my hands still interlocking with each other.
“2 please,” I said, holding up 2 fingers on my free hand.
“Coming right up.” The stall owner said, taking two apples on a stick and dipping them into a pot I assumed the liquid candy was in.
“Tch, what a shame,” Kayda mumbled softly.
‘Tch my ass, you weirdo!’ I thought, glancing at Kayda.
“That will be 1 silver each.” The stall owner said with a stretch out a hand, holding the two candy apples.
“One, you got to be kidding me. It can’t be that much.” I said, looking at the stall owner like he was dumb.
“Come on, lady. My stock is almost out anyways. be a gal and sponsor this old man.” The stall owner said, smiling kindly at us.
“But you’re robbing us, rawr,” I said, ignoring his words for the most part.
“Are you going to take it or not?” The guy said, seeing that I didn’t fall for his trick.
“Yeah, one silver for both at most, rawr.”
“Kitsu,” Kayda said, looking at me as if pleading for them.
“Tch, fine,” I said in annoyance, giving him the 2 silver coins and taking the candy apples.
“Thank you for the business.” The man said, waving us off or trying to.
“If you say so, rawr,” I said, shrugging while looking at the candy apple in my hand.
“I do.” The stall owner said, smiling and hitting a lever next to him. The table in front of him that had only one apple on a stick suddenly changed to a table full of apples.
“Huh, nice trick, rawr,” I said, not very impressed.
“Yeah, I know, right.” The man said, laughing to himself.
“Whatever, good luck in your business, rawr,” I said, waving my hand that was holding Kayda’.
“Kitsu?” Kayda mumbled, feeling her hand go numb for a second from coldness.
“Hmm, come on, you say goodbye to him too, rawr,” I said, smiling kindly at her.
“You better share yours later,” Kayda said, also waving her hand at the stall owner.
“Uhm, what?” I mumbled, confused before being pulled by Kayda.
“Why did you freeze the apples?” Kayda asked, changing the subject, and taking a bite of her candy apple.
“Because he is an asshole,” I said, glaring at my own candy apple.
“But why did you gesture to me to defrost it then?” Kayda asked, tilting her head at me.
“Because apples go bad really quick if they get frozen and get heated up quickly afterwards. There might even be worms hatching right now.” I explain with an evil smile.
“There is no way it will happen so fast,” Kayda explained, shaking her head.
“No, it will take a few hours before the I side of the apple will get mushy, but it will already taste like shit right now.”
“It will?”
“Yeah, you never had a heated apple? Well, ones that were taken from a frozen state to backed in seconds, rawr?” I said, tilting my head at her with a mischievous grin.
“Ugh, don’t even go on with that,” Kayda said, sounding completely disgusted.
“Now you get it, rawr,” I said, laughing at her expression.
“but what about the customers after us?” Kayda said, sounding a bit worried.
“Hmm, well, we are technically wasting their money now, but it’s not our problem. They won’t get sick from eating the candy apples, rawr.” I explain, shaking my head and shrugging.
“Are you sure they won’t get sick?”
“Yes, I am sure. At most, they might just vomit because of the initial taste of the apple, but nothing more and the candy around the apple might make it less disgusting.”
“Hmm, I see.”
“Yeah, anyway, how is it, rawr,” I asked, looking at the half-eaten candy apple in Kayda’s hand.
“had better, but it’s not bad.”
“I see, rawr,” I said, looking at my own candy apple.
Crunch.
“Mhmm, too sweet.” I hummed in complaint pressing my eyes shut.
“Pffft, hahaha, your face.”
“Bleh, I knew it would be too sweet for me, rawr,” I said, sticking my tongue out, ignoring Kayda’s laughter.
“Hahaha, cough cough, so you not going to finish it?”
“Nope, here you go,” I said, handing over the apple.
“Hmm, just take one more bight from the other side, then I will take it. And it must be the same size as the first one.” Kayda said, looking at my candy apple and pointing at the opposite side of where I took my first bite.
‘Is she after an indirect kiss, rawr?’ I thought, feeling my face blush again. Luckily, I still had the illusion of hiding the fact that I was blushing.
“Sigh, how troublesome. Crunch.” I complained but still complied, taking another bite out of the candy apple.
.....
“Mmmmm, it’s sweeter than before, rawr,” I said, complaining with my eyes pressed shut again.
“Haha, your reactions are so cute,” Kayda said, looking at me teasingly.
“Don’t be so mean, Kayda, rawr,” I whined, pouting.
“Hehe, sorry, I am just teasing you.”
“Sigh, you are going to be the death of me.”
“Well, now that we had our candy apples let’s move on to meatballs with some sauce,” Kayda said, pulling me to the side.
“Ah, finally something meaty.”
“And after that, we will go get cream crapes.”
“... I talk too much, rawr,” I mumbled, depressed.
