" Are you close to my husband?"Zhenyi asked Mrs. Xie curiously. She thought since Long Jie didn't answer her questions, she wouldn't press on it any further. But it didn't mean she wouldn't ask Mrs. Xie about her husband. She wanted to be more close to him so she started gathering information about him from any available source.
"Well, one can say so. Young master has been in care since he was a one-day-old infant," Mrs. Xie honestly answered Zhenyi's question. According to her, as a wife, Zhenyi could ask her anything that concerns Long Jie. There was nothing wrong with it. She was not prying, it was her right.
"I was a pedestrian nurse and when Mrs. Long gave birth to the young master, he was a weak child. I was assigned to look after him for the next six months before he got healthy like other newborns of his age. He got quite attached to me and when it was my time to leave, Mr. Long proposed an offer I couldn't refuse." Mrs. Xie continued.
"So, you became a nanny from a nurse?"
Mrs. Xie nodded. "I did. And I don't regret it "
After a pause, Zhenyi spoke.
"I am meeting my in-laws the first time after my wedding. I must do a little homework. Hence, who is my husband's grandmother like?"
"She... She can be a little difficult but just. If there is one person in Long Family that affects Young master, it is her," Mrs. Xie told her. She had worked for the Long family years ago, she had witnessed Matriach Long behavior and attitude towards Long Jie and other family members.

"Hmm..."
"Thank you, Mrs. Xie."
Zhenyi was sitting in front of the dressing table, as she tried to stand up, she stumbled a bit, this time more than before. She was officially drunk.
"Are you okay, Madam?"Mrs. Xie asked with genuine concern.
"I think I had little much of the wine," said Zhenyi in a small voice.
"Why don't you rest for a bit?"
"Well, you are right."
Following Mrs. Xie's advice, Zhenyi stretched on the couch with her eyes closed. Mrs. Xie earlier came to her room to inform her that Long Jie had called and was asking about it. Seeing her resting, she didn't have the heart to wake her up. In this position, Zhenyi was vulnerable, more vulnerable than she had ever shown. She knew Zhenyi had a bad day. Moreover, their fight in the morning -- she had heard them arguing but didn't comment about it as it was not her place to speak. But she wanted Zhenyi to give a chance to Long Jie again because she had brought him up and knew he was a good kid.
Soon after, she left the room and return to the work.
Long Jie came a few minutes later, when he opened the door to his room his eyes stopped at his wife's resting figure. He stepped towards her and instinctively put a hand on her forehead. Zhenyi instantly opened her eyes and her husband's face graced her vision.
"You okay?"
"Yeah..." She tried to stand on her feet but the wine was doing her magic again on her.
"Should we leave?" Zhenyi asked him when she saw he was already in a different suit from the morning.
Long Jie's gaze fell on her full figure and hitched in a breath. Just as he said before, he wanted a wife but got a goddamm heart attack waiting to happen. She turned to pick up her handbag, and his eyes fell on her back.
"Zhenyi," Long Jie groaned. Was she deliberately teasing her? Or it was her way of revenge?
For crying out loud, it was a bloody backless dress, what was she even thinking before wearing the damm dress?
"Hmmm," Zhenyi replied as she placed her heels on the floor near the couch and grabbed his hand, and put another hand on his shoulder to step into the heels. A fragrance of roses and sandal infiltrated into his nostrils.
His favorite scent in the whole wide world.
"Where is your coat?" Long Jie asked inwardly gulping the saliva.
Zhenyi furrowed her brows. "Coat in spring? I do not want to warm up more than I am already."
"Are you drunk, wife? " Long Jie asked as he smelled alcohol on her breath. There was only a few inch distance between them but he could smell alcohol on her.
"You asked me the same question twice today? What do you think I am -- an alcoholic?" Zhenyi narrowed her eyes at him. Only he knew how badly he wanted to kiss her space between her brows and then remove this bloody lipstick off her lips.
"You smell of alcohol, " came a groan as a reply.
"If a bottle of wine is considered alcohol, yes I have two glasses of it. I found it in our room," Zhenyi nonchalantly answered.
Hearing her reply his anger flare-up. "Two glasses of ninety years old red wine? How the hell are you even planning on walking in these shoes? Can you even stand without stumbling? What the hell were you thinking, Zhenyi--"
Long Jie was scolding her before she put her finger on his lips to stop him from speaking any further. "I will manage. You do not need to worry about me."
Long Jie removed her finger smoothly before saying in a very soft and warm voice, "If I am not to worry about you, then who am I going to worry about?"
"Your real family." Zhenyi hastily replied.
"Zhenyi..."
Zhenyi held the power to crush his nonexistent heart with such simple words. Only God knew how badly he wanted to make it up to her for every mistake he made. If today he made a mistake, he had the whole of his life ahead of him to make it up to her.
But he knew his cat eyes wouldn't make it easy for him. Not like he didn't deserve the hard time she would give him.
"Why did you drink in the broad daylight?"Long Jie softly chided her. He was expecting another argument when he came home but surprisingly she didn't say anything. Like their fight in the morning didn't happen.
"Ever heard 'if you are having a bad day, distract yourself. And what's the better distraction than alcohol'." Zhenyi said with a broad smile and those otherwise hidden dimples came visible to grace Long Jie's eyes.
"Nah... Never heard of it." He answered, drowning in her smile. How lucky was he to get her?
"How could you have? You haven't taken sensei Zhenyi's classes."
For a moment, Long Jie felt like he traveled back to the time. A distant memory in his brain replayed like a film.
'Of course, you haven't. You never took this great sensei's classes.'
'Aren't you too little to be called a sensei? '
'Young man, no one is too little to teach anyone one or the other thing. My mama says one can learn anything from anyone. '
'What should I learn from you then?'
'My shamelessness and coolness.'
Long Jie came back out of his daze when Zhenyi removed her hand from his shoulder.
"Since when are you called sensei?" Long Jie asked his beautiful gloating wife.
"Since now," she winked at him and kissed the bridge of his nose.
"Then what should I learn from you, my sensei?"Long Jie asked wrapping his arms around her waist and placed his head on the nape of her neck breathing her body scent.
"How to be a perfect spouse, "Zhenyi got out of his arms and shamelessly said air flipping her hairs.
Long Jie clasped her hand in his and came out of the room. She was trying to faultlessly walk down the stairs when Long Jie spoke.
"Are you sure you can walk in these heels? "
"I am very tempted to ask you to pick me up in the bridal style to the car downstairs. But I also know if you did, we will end up making out here for hours and then---"
Long Jie stopped her before he changed his mind and lock themselves in their bedroom for hours. He knew it would be more interesting and satisfying than the dinner at Long residence, but kept walking. "Hush, I get it. "
"It's an hour-long drive you can rest in the car. And after we reach the Long Mansion, don't get out of my sight even for a minute, " Long Jie said as the driver opened the car door for them.
"What am I? A kid? They call me a monster and your family should be cautious of this devil not the otherwise," Zhenyi answered once she was seated in the car.
"Trust me my little sensei, there are monsters more vicious than you."
He saw her struggling to keep her eyes open so he offered his shoulder to rest.
"Rest against my shoulder, wife. "
"Thank you for the offer but I will pass, "Zhenyi dismissed him and rested her head against the window. Just because she was drowned in the moment before, didn't mean she forgave him for the morning. His words still sting her sore heart.
"Stubborn," he muttered under his breath and pulled her into his arms.
"Asshole," she said loud enough for him to hear but didn't struggle to get out of his embrace.
