Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Chi Yu started up the vehicle quickly, and the car left the entrance of the bar. The windows were open, and the smell of alcohol on them soon dissipated with the wind. After driving for a while, things started slowing down in front suddenly, as there were traffic police checking for drunk driving ahead.
Song Luokui looked ahead, then back at Chi Yu. "They're checking for drunk driving."
Chi Yu tapped his fingers lightly on the steering wheel. "I really didn't drink."
Soon it was their turn. Chi Yu rolled down the window and blew into the device twice. The machine didn't light up, and the traffic police let them go quickly.
Song Luokui felt relieved.
Chi Yu glanced at her. "I really didn't drink."
Song Luokui: "Oh." So he went to the bar not to drink but to beat someone up?
Neither of them spoke after that. After all, they didn't know each other well and didn't have much to talk about.
The car soon stopped at the entrance of the estate. Song Luokui got out and said a simple "Thank you." Chi Yu responded with an "Mm-hmm" before driving off. He wasn't living in the estate anymore either, only occasionally coming back, similar to Song Luosheng, living in a house outside instead.
Once Song Luokui got home, she drank some digestive tea, took a bath, and went to rest soon after.
Since she was on break, of course she wanted to have a good time. Song Luokui went on a graduation trip with Zhang Xiyue and a few good friends. They traveled domestically, going south to the seaside, climbing mountains, and had a crazy month of fun before returning to the capital city.
A few days after coming back, it seemed Song Luosheng couldn't stand seeing her so free. He said, "Since you have so much free time, go bring me meals every day, or come experience what working life is like. What if you turn stupid from staying home and doing nothing all day waiting for your sister?"
Song Luokui lifted her eyes from where she was lying on the sofa. "What??? Are you crazy? You want me to go work?"
Song Luosheng: "It's called experiencing life."

"Thanks but I don't need that kind of life experience."
Song Luosheng: "Then bring me meals."
Song Luokui: "I can do that when I'm free."
Song Luosheng: "What could you possibly be busy with staying home all day?"
Song Luokui: "Girls have their own stuff, don't worry about it."
Song Luosheng: ...
The next day after lunch, Aunt Gui prepared a meal for Song Luosheng. Song Luokui picked it up and headed out. "I'm going then."
"Be careful on the roads, young miss."
"I will~".
She soon arrived at Song Luosheng's company, which was in a tall building downtown occupying half a floor on the 30th floor. The company name was "Song Technology".
Upon entering, the receptionist politely asked, "Hello, do you have an appointment?"
Song Luokui waved her hand. "I'm looking for Song Luosheng. I'm bringing him lunch. Oh, I'm his younger sister."
Receptionist: "One moment please, let me call the boss."
"Thanks."
Soon, under the receptionist's lead, Song Luokui was brought to Song Luosheng's office. On the way she ran into Zhou Yuan, who had a file in his hand and looked excited to see her. "Hey sis, what brings you here?"
Song Luokui waved to him in greeting. "Bringing lunch for my brother."
"Oh I see, so the boss is making you deliver meals. That must be tiring, sis."
Song Luokui: "I gotta go now, you look busy."
Zhou Yuan: "Alright."
After entering Song Luosheng's office, Song Luokui put the food on his desk. "Lunch time."
Song Luosheng was still typing away on his computer. "Coming."
With the food delivered, Song Luokui looked around his office, over here and over there, even walking to the window to gaze at the scenery in the distance.
"How come you don't have a lounge? Don't big bosses usually have a lounge connected to the office with a bed, wardrobe, and shower so they can rest or clean up since they work overtime so often, and sometimes bring girls there to lounge around with?"
Song Luosheng nearly choked on his soup upon hearing that. "You said it yourself - those are big bosses. I'm not a big boss. Who wants to overwork themselves to death?" He could only afford to rent half a floor right now. Sure he occasionally slept over, but that was just napping on the sofa.
Song Luokui turned to face him. "So what are you if not a big boss? What, a poor overworked employee?" She smirked. "I figure you're still better off than average workers out there."
Song Luosheng: "...Are you trying to make me choke so that you won't have to bring meals anymore in the future?" How come his cute little sister had gotten snarkier after growing up?
Song Luokui knocked her forehead. "Oh right, I forgot you haven't graduated yet. You're not quite a big boss or rich enough." Future Song Luosheng will become an impressive boss man, but that's still years after graduation. Present-day Song Luosheng doesn't have that commanding air yet.
Song Luosheng: "...Want me to have someone give you a company tour? Come intern here for credits whenever you want in the future. Now please stop interrupting my meal with that nonsense."
Song Luokui: "No need, I'm going to the bathroom."
She quickly left. After asking the receptionist for directions, she headed over swiftly. The washrooms were communal for the entire floor. Despite being quite clean, there were only five stalls, which led to a bit of lineup with so many female employees between the two companies on this level.
Taking a look at the queue, Song Luokui decided to try the floor above instead. But upon climbing the stairs, she discovered a lineup there too. What was going on? So many people using the bathroom at noon?
She went up one more flight and finally found no lineup on that floor. After quickly using the facilities, she got a call from Zhang Xiyue about a new movie premiere. Zhang Xiyue asked if she wanted to see the movie together and go shopping. She was on XX Street nearby.
Checking the location, it was quite close by. "Hang on, I'm in the area. Be right there." Song Luokui said.
"Great!"
Song Luokui texted Song Luosheng to bring the food containers home himself tonight since she was going out to have fun now. As she headed towards the elevators on that floor to go down, she discovered quite a crowd waiting given the lunch rush hour traffic. After a good while, the elevator finally arrived. But when the doors opened, Song Luokui found herself looking straight at the occupants inside.
Song Luokui: ?
Inside stood five men in black suits, with Chi Yu in their center, hands in pockets. Chen Nan held some documents and seemed to be explaining something while the other three also had documents in hand.
Upon spotting Song Luokui, Chen Nan promptly stopped talking. Song Luokui quickly edged to the side as Chi Yu walked out. She slipped into the elevator and directly pressed for the ground floor as the doors closed up again swiftly.
Chen Nan: "She wasn't sent to spy for intel, was she?"
Eyes on the shut elevator, Chi Yu simply said, "No, please continue."
Chen Nan: "Continue what? Oh right, that proposal..." Though how did the boss know she wasn't?
In the descending elevator, Song Luokui felt rather surprised too. So Chi Yu's company was in the same building on the floor above her brother's?
She immediately texted Song Luosheng: "Just saw that guy, his office in the same building?"
Song Luosheng: "Which guy? Who?"
Song Luokui: "The one who always beat you."
Song Luosheng: "...Speak properly. Yes, Chi Yu's company is upstairs. You saw him? Did he bully you? I'll go over and beat him up!"
Song Luokui: "No no, just curious. Your companies are right above each other, so you see each other often? Do you get in frequent fights? Or rather, does he beat you up a lot?"
Song Luosheng: "...Can't you wish me well? We're grown men now, not impulsive youths about to brawl all the time."
Song Luokui: "Oh I see, it's business rivalry now right? The kind where you trash talk each other's companies online?"
Song Luosheng: "Go enjoy your shopping. Bro will transfer you some money." He promptly sent over 50,000 RMB to forestall any more nonsense.
Song Luokui shrugged. It seems she ought to drop by more frequently from now on.
