The Warmhearted You

Chapter 16: Meeting the parents

Chapter 16: Meeting the parents

He Yu never thought that the kind man in the suit was Ye Xun’s father.

Ye Xun had first called out a “Dad” to the old man and then stood next to her. Caught in this sudden situation, He Yu froze but was still able to greet the other person.

Father Ye seemed more kind than she had imagined. He wore expensive clothing but was not arrogant. He was on a business trip to Chengdu and decided to swing by Chongqing to see Ye Xun.

Ye Xun had only known her father was coming when she received a message around four in the afternoon, and because he had a flight early in the morning, she didn’t think to tell He Yu. She had intended to have a quick reunion and meal with her father but didn’t expect her girlfriend and father to have coincidentally met here.

Without any warning or preparation, He Yu was a little nervous about meeting her girlfriend’s parents.

Father Ye was a cheerful and talkative man, and the younger man was even more talkative. He was Father Ye’s secretary.

The four of them went to a traditional hot pot place for dinner.

He Yu originally wanted to take them to a place that served Beijing styled dishes, but Father Ye said he wanted to try out the recipes that were unique to Chongqing.

They ordered the “mandarin ducks” hotpot*, and since all three Beijing citizens dislike spicy food, none of them touched the spicy section. During the meal, Father Ye would ask He Yu a few questions, such as her age and occupation to which He Yu answered back truthfully.

“It is good to pursue your dreams and do the things you like when your younger; it is much better than working yourself to death in an office.” Father Ye learned that she had opened up a coffee shop near the university, and while he didn’t disdain her for doing so, he didn’t support it either, he kept a neutral opinion.

When Ye Xun helped him cook some food, he smiled happily.

He Yu was a lot less nervous after seeing his attitude and took the initiative in bringing up topics. Before leaving the hot pot restaurant, Father Ye invited her to visit Beijing for vacation.

Early the next morning, the two saw Father Ye off, and He Yu gave the secretary some local snacks for them to eat.

Although this was the first time they met, and Father Ye’s attitude wasn’t considered warm, he was thoroughly impressed by He Yu.

Two days later, Ye Xun received some exclusive products from Beijing, including a roasted duck. Of course, it was not just for her. Father Ye had used a roundabout way to express his feelings, and Ye Xun understood, so she brought the products over to He Yu’s apartment.

He Yu had just taken a shower, and her hair was still wet.

Ye Xun helped blow dry her hair.

“Would you like to go to Beijing for a short trip?” Since they were currently idle, they might as well go out and pass the time.

He Yu felt a bit conflicted, she didn’t know why, but she felt like now was not the right time to take a trip to Beijing.

“We’ll see in two days, let me think about it first,” she said, without directly rejecting it.

Ye Xun hummed, and set down the blow dryer: “I’ll be leaving next Sunday and will return five days before the next semester starts.”

“Your research project is done already?” He Yu asked, stunned.

“I can continue next semester.” Ye Xun got up and hugged her waist, kissing her soft and fluffy black hair, whispering, “May I?”

She asked, but her hands were already under her clothing, slowly sliding up.

Her back felt like it was burning like a fire. He Yu raised her chin, took a deep breath, and, unconsciously tightening her stomach…

Ye Xun kissed her, sending the fire to spread all over her body.
