Chapter 4 The Supreme Crappy Feeling
[EM- 1695/500
Level-1 <Upgrade?> : 1 EM/Tap ]
'1320 EM in just 11 seconds...' Chris blinked in wonder at the frightening efficiency of auto-clicker, and here he was, taking so much time to collect just 375 EM.
He then focused back on the hologram and found an Upgrade button added with the Level tab.
He hurriedly clicked the button, excited to see the benefits increasing the level will provide.
[EM- 1195/1000
Level-2 <Upgrade?> : 1.5 EM/Tap ]
'Required EM doubled while the profit from tapping increased by 0.5.' Chris noted and just to double-check his guess, He upgraded the level once again.
[EM- 195/2000 Level-3 : 2 EM/Tap ]
'As expected. This is a really huge improvement.' Chris thought to himself if he was level 3 last night his earning would have been 2640 EM instead of 1320!

2. The Quality of Life. Improve your Living
Standard - M-Phone 14+ ]
'Living standard? What to improve? Residence? Vehicle? Clothes?' seeing the sub-task that replaced his earlier task, Chris was confused. In improving living standards, One can easily enhance so many things and never get satisfied, so Chris was confused about the system's definition of 'improve'.
Chris sitting on the toilet suddenly got another idea in his brain! 'Last night, I was in a near-death state by the time clicker was at 11 seconds. But, what if...'
// Auto-Clicker
Tap speed: 120 Clicks Per Second
Clicking Mode: Duration: 5 seconds, Auto Terminate. //
Yes, he set the auto-clicker into duration mode! Now, he no longer needed to bother giving it his all just to click the STOP button. The process would terminate on its own.
Taking a deep breath and selecting the target for auto-clicker. Chris tightly gripped his phone this time and hit the START button.
The same feeling of weakening as last night washed over his body. His body became numb, and his grip on his phone began loosening. But, even if the feeling was the same, the effect of draining this time around was much lower than last night.
Chris even managed to retain some slight control of his body! The 5 seconds which felt like 5 hours for Chris, finally ended.
[EM- 1395/2000 Level-3 : 2 EM/Tap ]
By the time it ended, Chris noticed one major difference between when he was tapping with his hands and when he was using auto-clicker.
When using his hands, most of Chris's stamina was drained from his hands making his hands feel much heavier and number while his rest body was pretty much unaffected.
However, when using auto-clicker, Chris's stamina was depleted all over his body equally. Naturally, it implied that since the depletion is scattered, no specific area suffers major loss!
'Heheheh' Chris began to cackle sitting on the toilet, a scene that would make anyone declare him as mental.
After leaving the bathroom, Chris quickly went to eat the breakfast. He didn't know why but he was feeling hungrier than usual.
If he had to make a guess, probably using the auto-clicker also depleted the energy in Chris's cells, and thus to recover that, He just needed a heavy nice breakfast.
"Brother, you seem in a much better mood today, something good happened?" intrigued at his sudden change of behavior, Cassie raised her eyebrows and asked.
"Mm, something like that." Chris paused his eating and gave a short vague answer.
"Really?! Then we won't have to live in this crappy apartment anymore?!" beyond excited, Cassie barraged him with questions, "We won't have to wear these old clothes either?!"
Regardless of how mature she gets, Cassie was still a normal, healthy, growing 13yr old teenager. No matter how hard she tries to hide her pain of living in such poor conditions, it was bound to surface sometimes...
"...Haha, Yes. We won't have to. I promise." Chris was a bit surprised by Cassie's questions, but after the momentary daze, he looked into her eyes and promised. Not planning to back down on his words.
"Yay!" like the little girl she was, Cassie cheered hearing Chris's promise, in her whole life she had never seen him break his word ever before and thus, she didn't doubt his words for even one second!
Smiling, Chris ruffled Cassie's hair with the hand he wasn't eating with and looked around the house.
The walls were decaying, their original color no longer visible as the putty on the wall chipped tending to fall down with as much as a simple poke. The floor tiles although cleaned of any garbage or dust, themselves were dirty enough to improve the apartment's Supreme Crappy Feeling, which it bestowed upon those poor souls that happen to live in it.
With just one room in the whole apartment, that too given to girls. Chris had to sleep every day on the couch...But, at least there were basic amenities in the house such as Television, Refrigerator, Gas Burner, and Electricity.
After looking closely at the apartment once again, Chris's eyelids twitched, he was now much more motivated to earn money faster.
Remembering Cassie's problems with the clothes, He gave a quick glance at her's and his own clothes.
Looking at her clothes, the cause of her discontent was obvious. Her clothes probably used to be a nice pink top and comfy black shorts, but, due to many continuous washes, their color can appear to be fading with only a very light hue left on the clothes. The clothes luster was also completely lost to never be found again.
It was a miracle in itself to see how a little teen who loves their appearance as much as their life was wearing such distasteful clothes without any complaints.
Chris sighed noticing these things he used to just ignore earlier, all these clues painfully reminded him how pathetic his life had been up until now...
"Cass, you don't have to go to school today?" Chris placed the earlier topic at the back of his mind for later and changed the topic while still wolfing down his food.
"No, today's holiday. They said the reason was something like...uhmm..." Cass fumbled her words not getting a nice idea to use as an excuse for a holiday. Her getting sick was overused, It was a Wednesday morning so a weekend holiday wasn't appropriate either...
"Seriously Cass? If you keep taking such holidays I swear I am gonna tell Cathy about them." well-versed with her bullshit, Chris gave her a dead stare and threatened.
"N-Now, now, no need to bring sister into this, hehe." Cassie waved her hands frantically and giggled with a coy tone nervously.
"Sigh...what was the reason?"
"The PE class! I hate it and that grumpy teacher!"
"PE is necessary for your future."
"Hmph, all they do in it is run around and exercise. I can do it at home too."
"Hah! Lie. Go out and run 5km around, then I will believe you, you lazy brat."
"I am not Lazy!"
"Go out and run then."
Cassie blinked at him for a good couple of seconds and then ran away into her room while shouting "...later!".
"Heh, as if that later's gonna come." Chris chuckled...
