Chapter 71 The Carnage
However, when all hope seemed lost… he did it. His hand cut through the viscous surface of bloody water and pushed his body up, finally heaving a breath to relieve his burning chest.
But… when his eyes opened, his jaws dropped as his body froze in shock.
The White Haven… his White Haven was no longer white… bursting with vast amounts of power and corrupted by a stark red crimson colour of blood, it resembled the Crimson Dawn rather than his peaceful domain.
Shakily, he turned his head around, expecting to see the cloudy black monstrosity that had successfully became a devil of his nightmares.
But, he was worried for no reason. As far as his eyes went, the blood red waters spread, the crimson shine of the sunlight bathing the world in a warm glow.
I am alive… Why am I here? Who am I? Where am I?
Chris's muddled state of mind failed to comprehend his current conditions as he flailed his hands in water, trying his best to not get pulled down by the murky fluid.
Marrying Arianne! I was marrying Catherine! But… who is Arianne? Who is Catherine?
His gears of mind turned, his head being assaulted by a nasty headache while his peaceful domain began to quake with an disastrous intensity.
The bottomless oceans began to raise, rising at huge heights of waves while the gentle embraces of sunlight began to feel hot like a burning stove.
Chris's lower body in water felt as chilly as ice, his upper feeling like a dying fish in the oven. While his whole body was being tossed around by the phenomenal waves.
Ariann.. Catherine. Who is Catherine? WHO IS CATHERINE?!
His body suffered from continous torture of waves and sun, his mind under the torment of the pain as he held onto the one question he felt was very important at this very moment.
The crimson clouds in sky moved, making way for some beams of lights which suddenly fell over Chris's agonising body, spreading a strange sense of calmness in his mind as his agony reduced.

More and more beams began to fall from the sky, devouring and eating away the crimson shade of the Haven, casting a healing glow on Chris's suffering wounds.
The crimson dawn began to withdraw, the bottomless water became a sandy waterlogged limitless plain, the blazing suns became two calming suns while the crimson shade retreated into a whirlpool.
Catherine… Cathy…
Chris's ragged breaths renounced as he laid on the water, his chest thumping loudly while his brain was in a haze, one word repeating in his mind over and over as his eyes closed and his body gently submerged in whitish blue waters.

With the continuous sounds of beeps, Chris's hazy eyes opened as he felt something sharp pressing against his hands and a stinging pain that came along with it.
"Ugh…" Chris groaned in pain, his eyes roaming on the floor and a sticky viscous liquid dripped down his hands, joining the streams of similar liquid that flowed in streams all around.
His hazy vision was red again, his body on his knees while his hands pressing against the ground, trying their hardest to pick Chris's tired body up from the ground.
But to no avail.
'Catherine… Cathy…' the name echoed in his mind again as he swung his head sideways, looking down from a mountain made of tin containers.
There she was. Laying on the concrete floor with her petite frame resting there silently with streams of blood that flowed around endlessly.
'Cath!' Chris shouted in his mind, exerting more force on his hands as he tried to pick up his tired body.
And then he saw… carnage. Pure destruction. The once authorative and royal lair now was drowned in blood and water.
A heavy downpour filled the room, merging with the blood to paint the floor in red, hundreds of dead bodies lay lifeless on the floor while Chris had no idea what tragedy had befallen this once lively place.
Next to him was another figure that lay dead on the iron throne. His lustrous silver hairs were now painted in red, his once handsome face had an ugly scar of a monstrous claw.
His chest having a deep gash, as if it was ripped apart by some beast alive.
'What…' Chris's steps trembled as he stepped back in fear, afraid that the cause of this savage behaviour might return again.
But what he didn't know was that, the cause of this carnage was no one but him. The him that he had no idea about.

As Chris stood in front of Vincent's mauled corpse, he couldn't help but widen his eyes hearing the sudden system notification.
He was the one who killed Vincent… no way… right?
The bar of conversion increased at a slow pace, taking several seconds just to rise by a single percent.
However, Chris had no time to watch this snail-like slow loading bar. He had a sister to save, after all.
Jumping and skipping the steps, he quickly made his way towards Cathy's injured laying body as he held her in a princess style while worriedly calling her name again and again.
Alas, Cathy seemed to be in a deep sleep as her body lay flat in his arms. If it wasn't for her beating heart and pulsating chest, Chris might have even believed she was dead.
'Cath…' Chris hugged her closely, gently wiping the blood and tears off her face as he broke off the chains that bound her body. It was indeed quite hard to hold back his tears as he saw her face. She… she who had been there with him since birth now lay in his hands injured…
Chris quickened his footsteps, his wet hairs falling in front of his eyes, hiding away the miserble tears he desperately wanted to hide.
He again took the same way he came from, looking at the girl who was laying on the concrete floor, in her hands a wrapper which she licked greedily, thinking maybe, just maybe more delicious chocolate would grace her dry and starving mouth.
After hearing the sounds of approaching, she turned her head with some difficulty as she looked at Chris, her eyes begging for some more food.
'I will come back for you…' Chris reminiscised as he looked at her pathetic condition. He wanted to pick her up and carry her along with Cathy, but how?
'Haha, nah no way.' Chris laughed as he facepalmed, musing an idea to pack that piece of bones and put her in a bag. Of course, it wasn't practical.
He looked at her, feeling a bit guilty as he sighed and walked to her, gently picking her up with one arm while he shifted Cathy in one arm aswell, keeping her head on his chest.
"I will give you more chocolates, so stop moving!" Chris's eyebrows twitched as the skeletal lady resisted his gesture, trying her best to escape from his arms.
She looked at him, a little dunious. But of course, beggars can't be choosers. If left here, she would surely die. So no matter why he was taking her, she had no choice but to obey. Unless she doesn't care about her life of course.
Without further adieu, Chris continued to walk. Hoping this fucking nightmare would stop already.
'Damn…' Chris let out an impressed him as he looked at the scene ahead. In the main hall where he had stopped his car, many body lay peacefully in a small pool of blood while the 3 cars were parked in the middle of the carnage while Ling and Tom stood in a distance.
"Oh bastard. Why did you run without telling us?! We could have helped you, you know." Claire who was sitting on her racecar saw Chris and immediately ranted.
"You found your sister… right?" Tom immediately asked in a rushed voice as he saw two women in Chris's arms.
"Yeah. There are more hostages, call your father." Chris answered flatly as he walked towards his car, "Claire, check my sister please."
"Sigh… fine." Claire took a deep sigh, walking to his car as she picked her aid kit she keeps in her car.
"Ugh, so annoying." Tom sighed too, calling his dad again as he narrated the circumstances of what had happened.
"Who is this girl? Why is she so thin?" Claire looked at the starving girl who looked like a person who might just die abruptly if not feeden.
"Check Cathy first, I found her starving in some kind of a dungeon or a cellar." Chris took Clair's attention away as he forced her to check up Cathy first.
"Okay okay, sis con! I will check her first. Give some food to this one though." Claire facepalmed and opened her aid kit to take some of her medical tools which Chris didn't have much knowledge about.
"Thanks." Chris nodded in some worry.
