Chapter 3: Your Junior, Bai Guofu

Editor: Henyee Translations

Inside the European style villa, the entire Bai Family were currently seated on the sofa.

The white-haired old man, Bai Guofu was clenching his cane tightly. His face was flushed red in anger and he reprimanded in a loud voice. “Are my words of no importance, now? I gave you the task to fetch someone. Why didn’t you go?”

Different members of the Bai Family had different reactions to his words.

The old man, who always remained aloof and away from the worldly affairs, had suddenly announced yesterday that he was going to bring in a girl from the countryside into the family. Moreover, she would be staying here for an indefinite period. This news was like a stone thrown into a calm lake, that stirred up great ripples.

A delicate young lady who was seated at the corner seat, pouted and tried to explain to the old man. “Grandfather, it’s raining so hard outside. Can’t we fetch her after the rain stops?”

Bai Yinyin was feeling a strong sense of crisis towards the girl who was yet to appear. She was the only girl in this generation of the Bai Family and thus, she had been doted upon by her grandfather since childhood. Naturally, she would not be fond of sharing that attention with someone else.

They had originally made plans to fetch that country bumpkin from Yunwu Mountain at one o’clock today. However, Bai Yinyin suddenly came up with an idea, along with her mother, to let the girl wait in the rain to teach her a lesson.

Bai Yinyin looked at the downpour happily through the window and gloated secretly. She was ready to bet that the girl must be thoroughly drenched from head to toe by now.

“Ding~ Ding~”

The doorbell rang all of a sudden and Bai Yinyin stood up to open the door.

A young lady dressed in a clean dress of unknown material with bamboo pattern embroidered on the corner of her sleeves, was standing at their doorstep. There were no traces of mud on her shoes. Moreover, she was shockingly gorgeous. She gave off a clean and spiritual image, and the aura she excluded made her seem like a godly being.

She introduced herself at the first opportunity. “I’m Bai Chuwei.”

Bai Yinyin retreated in shock and immediately took out her mobile phone to check the photo which she had received previously. Unconsciously, her voice became sharper as she said, “You’re Bai Chuwei?”

The Bai Chuwei in that photo was plowing the field with her trousers rolled up while wearing a large straw hat, looking vulgar and stupid at the same time. In conclusion, she seemed like a true blue country pumpkin.

Bai Yinyin honestly suspected that the photographer wanted to chase her and hence, had deliberately photoshopped her image.

She had never seen such a beautiful and ethereal girl in her whole life and even Tong Qingyan would lose out to her in terms of appearance.

Where was the promised country bumpkin? Bai Yinyin’s sense of crisis multiplied several fold and she looked at Bai Chuwei warily.

Bai Chuwei briefly glanced at Bai Yinyin with a smile as she found her rather funny. She bypassed her and stepped on the fluffy carpet, making her way in, calmly.

In the large hall inside the villa, everyone was sizing up the newcomer with probing looks.

The old man seated on the main seat was dressed in Tang Dynasty clothes and his grip on the cane tightened visibly. He was so excited that he trembled and his aged face turned red with excitement.

Bai Yinyin stared at Bai Chuwei’s flawless face, unwaveringly. It seemed as if it would break with a single touch. In irritation, she loudly reprimanded. “Your behavior is as expected from a country bumpkin from the rural area. Why didn’t you change your shoes before entering our house? You are so undiscip….”

She did not manage to finish her sentence before she was thoroughly stunned by the scene taking place before her.

The old man suddenly threw away his cane and staggered as he got up. He then bent his knees and knelt before Bai Chuwei and repeatedly kowtowed to her. His voice was filled with extreme excitement as he shouted. “Your junior, Bai Guofu, pays his respects to his ancestor.

Bai Chuwei did not shy away from him and easily accepted the kowtow from a seventy-year-old old man while she reminisced about the past. “Little Fu, it has been nearly twenty years since we saw each other.”

The old man’s eyes reddened and he cried out in happiness.

Everyone present in the villa: “… ???”

Did the old man go crazy? Why did he kneel and kowtow to a little girl, who seemed like she had yet to reach twenty years of age?
