Chapter 12
Chapter 12
"Jiang Wei, does this dog have some kind of grudge against me...?" Yi Ming looked at her pleadingly. He had spent a whole hour yesterday scrubbing Air Force One clean after the dog had casually lifted its leg. Yi Ming was still traumatized. This kind of creature that would just randomly urinate was truly too frightening.
"Xiao Shi," Jiang Wei called out softly, beckoning to it. Xiao Shi obediently settled down, resting its head on its front paws next to Jiang Wei. Yi Ming carefully got up from the sofa and sat back down, his gaze never leaving the furry creature.
Yi Ming: "When did you pick up this dog? How come I didn't know about it?"
Jiang Wei hesitated for a couple of seconds. "A few days ago."
"A few days ago? Specifically which day?" Yi Ming's eyes were dark and bright, glittering like stars. "Was it Monday when I went to pick you up from class, or Tuesday when you had your training course, or a certain day when someone promised to bring me milk tea but never showed up, leaving me waiting all day?"
Jiang Wei really hadn't deliberately failed to catch that washed apple. Even with her heart racing wildly, she was worldly wise and had seen her fair share of things.
The apple was oddly round. As it rolled away dripping water across the floor, it came to a stop at Yi Ming's feet. Anxious, Jiang Wei hurriedly squatted down to grab it, but a large hand with pronounced knuckles suddenly appeared and effortlessly grasped her smaller hand.

Jiang Wei tried to pull her hand back but failed. With a slight exertion of strength from him, she found herself involuntarily hauled up right in front of Yi Ming.
"Jiang Wei, you were there that day."
Meeting his intense gaze, Jiang Wei did not deny it.
"So you were jealous?" Yi Ming smiled, the pride and delight evident in his brows and eyes. "You saw her. You thought I had something going on with her, so...you were jealous?"
Jiang Wei looked at him. Yi Ming was so full of himself, practically begging to be punched. She didn't know how she had endured it for over a decade—it must be love.
Love gives one patience, love keeps one from giving in to the urge to smash a pillow in his face.
Jiang Wei yanked her hand out forcibly. Before she could say anything, Yi Ming had suddenly leaned forward. Moving swiftly, he covered Jiang Wei's soft hair with his hand and pinned something there with a "pop".
"What are you doing, Yi Ming?"
Jiang Wei froze for a moment, then took two steps back to stare at him.
"Recreating the scene," Yi Ming grinned, a dimple appearing on his sculpted cheek. "This was what you saw that day. My dad's colleague's daughter took the cherry hair clip you left at my house. I'm very protective, how could I let someone else touch Jiang Wei's belongings? So I immediately removed it from her hair."
Jiang Wei touched the hair clip in her hair as she recalled the events of that day. A strange feeling arose in her heart.
Yi Ming watched her closely, capturing the shift in her eyes. He couldn't help but laugh. "I seriously suspect you've been keeping your distance lately because you were jealous. Jiang Wei, were you actually jealous or not?"
Jiang Wei considered this then said, "No."
"Really no?"
"Really no."
Yi Ming moved closer, leisurely gazing at her. "No jealousy huh... Then I'll just make another cherry hair clip for my little sister. Anyway, a certain someone doesn't like..."
Before Yi Ming could finish speaking, his mouth was blocked by a smooth, red apple.
"Jiang Wei..." Yi Ming's face was scrunched up as he tried to speak unclearly around the apple, his fingers repeatedly pointing at it. "There's...dog...hair..."
Jiang Wei pressed her lips together contemplatively then asked, "Just now, who did you call a 'calf'?"
Yi Ming was startled for a moment before breaking into a radiant grin. Still biting the apple, he headed out the door. "The weather today is perfect, cloudless. Great for going jogging..."
