Tower of Heaven

Chapter 219 Civilization War [6]

"This is a bit insane, isn't it?" Drya commented as she watched the demon race she worked so hard to raise being razed to the ground.

Atlas smiled wryly even though he knew she couldn't see it and nodded his head.

"Frankly, I wasn't expecting them to blossom like this. This trial becomes quite elaborate when you accomplish too much in too little time."

He was seeing the same scene as her, and that was what he surmised.

His Neurics grew too fast. Before they even left the subterranean world, they had achieved too much. When they followed Yonnis to the surface world, they did even more, and a mechanic like the Ancient Dragon corpse had to be implemented to give them more challenges.

Atlas' hypothesis was that this trial evolved depending on the level of the races in question. They would face threats proportionate to their rate of growth, and the Neurics' rate of growth…

It had been witnessed firsthand. It didn't need to be spoken again.

Even Atlas was unsure if he'd ever seen a society like theirs in reality.

First of all, they were supported by a foundation of several Heaven Grade Artifacts.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

The main Spirit Destroyer was a Heaven Grade Artifact. There was a Heaven Grade Holy Sword that Yonnis wielded. Shinnhaven had been developed until the whole walking fortress could be considered a Heaven Grade Artifact…

Those were only some of the great artifacts they'd created. There were roughly ten at Heaven Grade that neared the legendary Immortal Grade of artificing.

They came in small quantities because it was hard to find materials to create them, not because the Neurics were lacking in skill. They displayed this perfectly with the Earth Grade Artifacts they created in droves.

Practically every weapon or equipment used by a Neuric on the battlefield was an Earth Grade artifact that rivaled a low Heaven Grade in power. With their abundance of ranged weapons and large area weapons, the demons could not get close to the invading Neurics that cut them down.

If only a single demon was able to make it past the line, they would have been able to cause serious damage.

Stay connected with empire

But, many of the Neurics fighting now were the same Neurics that had been at war for these past several thousand years.

They no longer made the same mistakes. No, they no longer made any mistakes.

"This is almost embarrassing. I know World Core experts can destroy mountains with their bare hands, but isn't this a little more than that?"

Drya sighed and shook her head. Luckily for Atlas' conscience, she didn't have much of an attachment to these demons. That was simply the nature of their race. It was their dream to live and die in battle, so dying in such a grand fashion to such grand weapons was probably the happiest moment of their lives.

The ones who lived would also be more than happy, since the enlightenment they received from a large-scale war like this would not be small.

"I think it definitely is possible, but it would take some very rare circumstances for an empire like this to arise."

The more he thought about it, the more Atlas realized that the scene he caused was the exact reason why Neurics had such restrictions on them from birth. They had the potential to become indomitable due to their natural advantages alone, so the things they had to overcome were naturally more complex as well.

"I thought this would be more of a spectacle," Drya said with a sigh.

It definitely was a spectacle. The rays of concentrated qi that destroyed large chunks of the continent piece by piece were hard not to marvel at.

But…

Well, it was enough to say that she was expecting to put up more of a fight.

Sighing to herself, she shrugged.

"I'll just concede this one. There's no point in fighting anymore."

Most of her strongest combatants were already dead. The Demon Lord was still alive, but she knew she would lose him too if she continued this battle.

She noticed that Atlas hadn't touched his map even once. She, on the other hand, had been ceaselessly commanding her troops to try and survive. The difference between them was too obvious, so she quickly lost interest.

It was definitely fun to watch the Neurics rampage, but she preferred if the target was someone else's army.

Atlas nodded in understanding, but he still spoke with some blades in his tone.

"It's a shame. I thought we could see it through to the end, but this is fine as well."

Drya rolled her eyes.

"There's no need to provoke me. I know you just want to see more of what your precious Neurics can do."

It was clear that everyone knew he had used Neurics, but nobody understood how they'd become the way they were. Thinking that it was too much work to ask questions, Horus, Artemia, and Drya all stopped asking.

Atlas couldn't deny her words. Seeing him rub his head sheepishly, she smiled a little.

"Don't worry so much. The war still isn't over. Now, if we just wait for them to finish…"

Horus and Tyrion were at the end of their battle as well. It was too even between them in the end, so they decided to declare a draw.

As for Artemia and Horgen… it was best to say that there weren't many Cosmic Dragons left. Even if he didn't want to admit it, he had thoroughly lost.

Ending declarations were made on all three battlefields, and that was when the battlefield itself began to change.

Above the clouds, the barriers separating the six people shifted. The maps of the three allied Ascenders were brought together and turned into one large picture. The barriers were not gone completely, as the two teams still could not see each other's maps, but that was the end of it.

They could hear everything each other said. No information would remain hidden during this stage unless the participants intentionally hid it.

In the world below, three continents were merged into one on both sides. As the Ascenders watched, "history" took place. The world turned at an extremely rapid rate until six societies had been merged into two.

On one side, Dragons, Demons, and Giants lived in harmony. The three influences retained their independence, but they formed an alliance to rule the supercontinent together.

On the other side, Dragons, Giants, and Khanii Neurics came together. They merged more as a society than the other side, but there was still a layer of separation between them. None were willing to be outdone by the others, after all.

The memories of their previous wars still existed in their minds, and their populations had returned to their peak, giving them the ability to fight again.

Both sides had been eyeing the continents across the ocean for the several thousand years that had passed in a few minutes, and subtly, they sensed the incorporeal barrier between them disappearing.

This time, they would not fight as individuals. They would fight as a team.

Now that the first stage of the Civilization War was over, the real war could finally begin.

Only…

Would the results really be that different?
