Tsundere Campus Goddess and Rogue Master

Chapter 14

C14 – Honorary Professor of TCM

“Hey, Wang, why the rush? I’ve got something to discuss with you!”

At that very moment, Elder Dong emerged from the room, quick to catch up with Wang Xiao. He clasped Wang Xiao’s hand with an enthusiastic gleam in his eyes.

Under Elder Dong’s assertive gaze, an uneasiness spread through Wang Xiao. He coughed lightly in response, telling Elder Dong, “Elder Dong, if you have something to say, just say it. No need to tug me around.”

“Wang, my boy, how about joining my hospital as a professor? Just four days a month and a monthly pay of fifty thousand.”

Elder Dong didn’t relinquish his grip on Wang Xiao’s hand; in fact, he held tighter, as if fearing that the person before him would vanish the moment he released his hold.

“What? A fifty-thousand monthly salary?” The expression on Second Aunt Chen Feng’s face shifted dramatically at this revelation.

It felt like Tong Bin had been slapped. Only moments ago, he was belittling Wang Xiao, asserting that apart from some medical skills, he was of no use.

In the next instant, Wang Xiao was being conferred an honorary professorship at the named hospital!

Before Tong Bin could recover from his shock, Wang Xiao’s reply plunged him back into confusion.

“I’m sorry, but I’m not interested in an honorary professorship. I still have university to attend.”

Wang Xiao’s rejection of Elder Dong was straightforward, his eyes reflecting a genuine resolve.

“Wang Xiao, an honorary professorship at People’s Hospital! Even the most renowned doctors can’t secure that!”

Tong Bin’s eyes widened as he shouted at Wang Xiao, his tone tinged with anger.

“Big Brother Wang Xiao!”

Tong Waner also gently grasped Wang Xiao’s hand, her captivating eyes fixed upon him.

“You really won’t consider it? Not even give it a thought?”

Elder Dong appeared to anticipate Wang Xiao’s rejection, yet he persisted, gritting his teeth and making a last-ditch effort. His aged eyes held a plea.

Wang Xiao smiled and chose not to respond.

“Very well, here’s my business card. If you ever change your mind, feel free to reach out.”

Despite his disappointment, Elder Dong retrieved a business card and offered it to Wang Xiao.

With a downcast demeanor, he left. The sight of his spiritless departure evoked a sense of sadness.

“Huh, a poor kid is just that, poor. He’ll never understand how to grasp opportunities!”

Tong Bin seized the chance to tease and jest for a moment before turning and departing.

“Big Brother Wang Xiao, why didn’t you agree to Grandpa Dong? If you become a respected professor, Second Aunt and the others won’t be able to look down on you anymore!”

Following Tong Bin, Chen Feng, and the rest of the group, Tong Waner turned toward Wang Xiao. Cutely stamping her foot, she pouted unhappily and posed her question.

“Because I’m lazy!”

Wang Xiao spread his hands. He chuckled.

Tong Waner couldn’t help but give an eye roll in response to Wang Xiao’s comeback.

“Don’t worry, Waner. Even if I don’t secure this honorary professorship… It should still aid in winning your family’s favor, right? Your granddad’s taken quite a liking to me,” he remarked, sensing the hint of wistfulness in Tong Waner’s eyes. His hand found its way to hers almost instinctively.

Finally, his attention settled on Tong Waner’s graceful form, and a mischievous smile played on his lips. “Your granddad’s already thrown the idea of early marriage and babies our way. When should we consider…?”

Tong Waner’s cheeks flushed crimson at Wang Xiao’s words. She lowered her head with a sigh and murmured, “No, we’re still so young!”

With that out, she turned beet-red and hurriedly spun around to make her escape.

“This girl is just too innocent!”

Watching Tong Waner retreat, Wang Xiao’s lips curled into a slight smile.

After confirming Dong Yuan’s well-being, Wang Xiao and Tong Waner exited Old Tong’s residence, returning to their private villa.

……

The following morning, Tong Waner rose early to retrieve her college acceptance letter, having received a call from her high school. Wang Xiao remained at home for a while, eventually growing a tad bored, which prompted him to venture out to a nearby bar.

Despite the early hour, the bar was surprisingly occupied by a fair number of patrons. The ambiance exuded a calmness, with subdued lighting that lent an almost timeless quality to the place.

Approaching the bar counter, he ordered a glass of vodka, settling onto a chair to savor it at a leisurely pace.

“Hey there, handsome. You’ve got quite a striking face. First time here, is it?”

In this instant, a sensually attired woman, her appearance meticulously adorned, sauntered over. She cast a flirtatious wink in Wang Xiao’s direction, her voice accompanied by a beguiling smile.

The scent of cheap perfume wafted from her form, slightly assaulting his senses. When he set eyes upon the woman’s heavily powdered face, Wang Xiao couldn’t suppress a faint frown. He chose not to respond to her query, instead focusing on his drink.

“Ah, and we also have a cold, handsome guy on our hands, do we?”

Observing Wang Xiao’s complete disregard for her presence, a glint of coldness flashed within the depths of the woman’s beautiful eyes. She maintained her smile and continued, “I wonder if this cold, handsome gentleman would be willing to treat me to a vodka?”

“Of course, lovely ladies are afforded special privileges in this world.”

Wang Xiao directed a brief glance at the woman and then offered a smile.

Upon hearing his response, a smile crept onto the woman’s countenance. She presumed she might be able to manage this young man, but as soon as she heard his subsequent words, her expression instantaneously froze.

“However, you’re not exactly a vision of beauty, so the vodka treat won’t be extended to you.”

With a composed demeanor, Wang Xiao looked at the woman and conveyed his statement with an air of indifference.

A glass of vodka wasn’t inexpensive, having imbibed it only a handful of times back in the mountain’s subterranean wine cellar.

“You!”

Upon hearing Wang Xiao’s words, the glamorous woman’s expression turned immediately grim. Her finger, adorned with nail polish, was aimed at Wang Xiao, her body quivering with anger.

“Just state your purpose. If there’s nothing else, spare me while I enjoy my drink.”

This time, Wang Xiao spoke again, addressing the glamorous woman in a deep tone.

The glamorous woman’s carefully made-up face underwent various changes. Ultimately, she conjured a seductive smile and playfully hooked her arm around his, inadvertently pressing her ample bosom against him. With a flirtatious grin, she suggested, “Chilly handsome, if you’re not up for buying me a drink, that’s okay. We’re all adults here—perhaps we could head to a hotel… for other activities.”

And with a final flourish, she even winked at Wang Xiao.

“I’m sorry, but you don’t interest me.”

Wang Xiao firmly rebuffed the glamorous woman, his tone dripping with disdain.

“You!” Enraged, the glamorous lady’s face twisted. Clenching her teeth, she warned, “You’ll regret this!”

After uttering this threat, she released Wang Xiao’s arm and departed, her hips swaying sensually.

Wang Xiao only smiled faintly, seemingly unbothered by the glamorous woman’s ominous words.

As he neared the end of his vodka, a sudden uproar erupted behind him.

“Honey, this brat took advantage of me!”

The glamorous woman, now accompanied by a bald man, advanced swiftly. She pointed an accusing finger at Wang Xiao, the miscreant, and made her grievances known. Several tough-looking thugs trailed behind the bald man.

“Uh…” Witnessing this, Wang Xiao raised an eyebrow in response.

“Young man, you’re the one who wronged my wife.”

The bald man approached Wang Xiao with an air of dominance, his eyes fixed on Wang Xiao as he inquired.

“With her looks, I wouldn’t even take her for free, and you dare claim I mistreated her?”

Wang Xiao, his face adorned with a contemptuous smirk, regarded the bald man with a hint of sympathy. He wondered how vast the green pasture on this fellow’s head could be.

“Young man, what did you say? You bullied my wife, yet you’re still audacious enough to talk back?”

The bald man clenched his fist suddenly, snorting at Wang Xiao. Before he could finish, the group of henchmen behind him had encircled Wang Xiao.

The bar’s patrons all scurried away, and even the bartender retreated to a corner. Clearly, they all feared the bald man and his gang.

“What do you want?”

Observing this, Wang Xiao arched an eyebrow. He glanced at the gangsters and directed his question at Bald Man.

“Simple. You’ve harassed my wife. Unless you cough up 20,000 yuan for the distress you’ve caused her, you won’t be walking away from here.”

A smug smile tugged at the corners of Bald Man’s lips. He extended his hand to clasp the waist of the sultry lady, allowing his fingers to linger as he addressed Wang Xiao.

The sultry lady pouted a few times, but she didn’t make any move to remove Bald Man’s hand.

“Twenty thousand? Is this considered extortion?”

Wang Xiao’s smile deepened upon hearing this, and he casually set his wine glass on the bar counter.

“What if it is?”

Bald Man huffed coldly, his gaze fixed on Wang Xiao with an air of arrogance and dominance, seemingly conveying, “If you don’t pay up today, don’t even think about leaving.”

“And if I refuse to pay?”

Wang Xiao regarded Bald Man with indifference as he inquired.

“Then don’t blame us for getting rough.”

Bald Man released his grip on the sultry lady’s hand and clenched his fists. His knuckles cracked as he issued a chilly snort in Wang Xiao’s direction.

“How intriguing. I’m curious to witness how you bunch of thugs plan to get rough with me!”

Wang Xiao’s smirk dripped with disdain as he retorted to Bald Man with a smirk.

Upon hearing Wang Xiao’s retort, Bald Man’s expression darkened, his anger flaring. “Since you’re unwilling to comply, don’t blame me. Attack!”
