Chapter 122
Chapter 122 - Concealment
Following the elimination round came the qualifying round.
In contrast to the elimination round, the qualifying round would be broadcast live.
Ye Hao, along with 520 other students, stood before a series of touch screens.
“In a moment, ten fill-in-the-blank questions will appear before you. If you fail to answer more than two correctly, you will be eliminated,” the host announced gravely. “Only the top eight will advance from the qualifying round.”
“Let's get started.” As the host's words faded, ten fill-in-the-blank questions materialized on Ye Hao's touch screen.
Ye Hao quickly grabbed his pen and began writing his answers.
By the time he finished all ten questions, 60 seconds had elapsed, and they were only allotted 90 seconds for the task.
Every second counted!
When time was up, over half of the contestants were greeted with red lights in front of them.
“Making it to the finals is incredibly tough.”
The second round!
The third round!
By the end of the tenth round, only 18 contestants remained.
Ye Hao caught Xu Mengmeng's eye from a short distance and gave her a slight nod.
He hadn't expected Xu Mengmeng to still be in the running.
However, as the eleventh round concluded, Xu Mengmeng was eliminated.

The rules stated that the finals required only eight contestants, necessitating one more round.
Ye Hao, Faang Wen, Ming Yue, and Lee Xun remained composed, while Kong Mingxuan, Mo Haoyuan, Xiang Yong, and the others looked visibly tense.
This round could potentially eliminate more than one contestant.
Their prediction was accurate.
By the end of the round, three contestants were eliminated, leaving just six in the competition.
”Based on the total scores of these three contestants, we declare that Kong Mingxuan and Mo Haoyuan have advanced to the finals,” the host declared, and the audience instantly knew that the thrilling finals were imminent.
“Take a short break. The program will return shortly.” The National Proverb Championship had sponsors, and it was time for a commercial break at this critical juncture.
Backstage in the green room, Ye Hao was sipping water when there was a knock at the door.
He opened it to find Faang Wen. “What's up?”
“Can we talk for a moment?”
“Come in.” Ye Hao had no fondness for Faang Wen.
Once Faang Wen entered, he promptly placed a bank card on the table.
“What's this supposed to mean?” Ye Hao asked, his eyes narrowing.
“The Faang family has been a lineage of literary distinction for generations. I cannot be the one to tarnish our reputation,” Faang Wen declared, fixing his gaze on Ye Hao. “There's ten million on this card. If that's not enough for you, I'm willing to increase the amount.”
“Are you asking me to cheat?” Ye Hao challenged, locking eyes with Faang Wen.
“If that's how you want to interpret it,” Faang Wen conceded with a nod.
“Sorry, but no.” Ye Hao declined.
“You don't think I'm trying to deceive you, do you?” Faang Wen asked, his brow furrowing. “You can verify the funds right now.”
“I have no interest in doing that.”
Faang Wen squinted at Ye Hao. “Doesn't the glory of winning the championship appeal to you?”
“That's for me to decide,” Ye Hao replied coolly, giving Faang Wen a dismissive glance. “You needn't concern yourself with my affairs.”
“This is your last warning, Ye Hao,” Faang Wen said, enunciating each word with gravity. “Do you believe I have the power to destroy your reputation?”
“I don't,” Ye Hao responded, shaking his head.
“You'll regret this decision one day,” Faang Wen warned before picking up his bank card and striding out.
Watching Faang Wen's retreating figure, Ye Hao switched off the voice recorder hidden in his sleeve.
“Faang Wen, if you had refrained from acting, it would have been one thing. But if you make a move, I assure you, you'll be the one to fall,” Ye Hao mused silently.
As Ye Hao lay on his bed, eyes closed in meditation, the door burst open. A swift figure lunged, seizing his throat.
“Utter a single word, and I'll crush your windpipe,” the man threatened menacingly.
Ye Hao, facing the aggressor at close range, inquired, “You're a Shaolin disciple, aren't you?”
“Yes,” the young man replied with a cold smirk. “But I suggest you swallow this without fuss, or I won't hesitate to end your life.”
He revealed a black pill in his hand.
“Before I take it, why don't you enlighten me about this pill?”
“This pill isn't poison; it just affects your thinking.”
“Really?” Ye Hao said with a smile. “In that case, why not give it to Faang Wen?”
“What did you say?” The young man was caught off guard, and in that moment, Ye Hao swiftly pinned him to the ground and delivered a sharp chop to his carotid artery.
The young man passed out.
Ye Hao then carried the unconscious man to Faang Wen's room.
He knocked on the door, which Faang Wen promptly opened.
That's when he saw Ye Hao gesturing to him.
“How can this be?” Faang Wen gasped in shock, and in that instant, Ye Hao popped the black pill into his mouth. Without missing a beat, he threw Faang Wen's bodyguard onto Faang Wen himself.
“You're despicable,” Ye Hao said before turning on his heel and walking away.
“Damn it,” Faang Wen fumed. “I will kill you.”
Ten minutes later, the final round was set to begin.
Yet, to everyone's surprise, Faang Wen declared his withdrawal from the competition.
The crowd was taken aback.
But they quickly realized why Faang Wen had backed out.
“Clearly, Faang Wen is scared of Ye Hao.”
“Faang Wen is such a coward, lacking even the courage to fight.”
“Still, does withdrawing make Faang Wen any stronger than Ye Hao?”
Ye Hao was indifferent to Faang Wen's withdrawal.
Whether Faang Wen stayed or left, Ye Hao was confident in his victory and becoming the champion.
The outcome was never in doubt.
Ye Hao triumphantly claimed the championship title.
Then, in the spotlight of national attention, he accepted a scholarship worth five million.
Ye Hao declined all interview requests and quickly left the venue.
Outside, Tang Pianpian was waiting for him.
“We're heading to Weyphia City,” Ye Hao said firmly.
He had just received several calls from his parents at the venue. Ye Zhiguo had informed him that Ye Dongzhi might not have much time left.
Ye Hao knew that Ye Zhiguo still cared deeply for Ye Dongzhi.
So, in these circumstances, Ye Hao knew he had to return home without delay.
As Tang Pianpian revved the engine, she asked curiously, “What's in Weyphia City for you?”
“Let's head to my place.”
Tang Pianpian gasped in astonishment, “But I haven't prepared anything at all.”
“What do you need to prepare for?” Ye Hao chuckled upon seeing Tang Pianpian's reaction. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
At a loss for words, Tang Pianpian could only stammer in response.
