Chapter 51 - YaoFei CP
As to how Rui Li ended up there at that moment, there is a simple explanation. Ten minutes ago, Rui Li was in the very same position her brother left her when she heard a commotion. That's not to say that Ji Yao and Rui Fei were loud it's just that her hearing was quite good.
Since Xiaoyu had gone to take a bath, Rui Li took it upon herself to go outside and take a look. As soon as she stepped out in the corridor she heard the noise coming from their bedroom. Curious, she pressed her ear against the wall to eavesdrop.
The two happened to be tussling on the bed which made her mind that had just been flooded with scenes from Stormy Love race at light speed. The scene playing in her head from their voices alone was as fluffy and sweet as cotton candy.
She imagined like in the book the gong pressing the vicious shou down on the bed while looking into each other's eyes as spring blooms in winter. She imagined the gong plant a gentle kiss on the shou while whispering sweet nothings into his ear.
Awww, this baby fujoshi's heart was struck by cupid's arrow. As to who was the gong or the shou she hadn't thought that far yet. Just as she sank deeper into the pit of no return, Ji Yao stormed out of the room seeming angry.
It looked like her brother had pushed his angry button again. Normally Ji Yao could have sensed her presence but because he had been provoked by Rui Fei he didn't notice her. So did Rui Fei as well as he followed behind to catch up with Ji Yao.

Rui Li initially thought her brother would coax the feisty kitten with a few words like in the novel. But she didn't expect to witness an even better scene. Her shameless brother draped his arm around Ji Yao's shoulder and pulled him closer which ultimately led to him lying on the ground with Ji Yao hovering on top of him.
How she wished she could freeze this moment for future enjoyment. She couldn't help but wonder why no one had invented a contraption that could capture this moment so she could take a look at it later to her heart's content.
Unknowingly she had strolled over for a closer look leading to this moment where the both of them were looking at her puzzledly.
Ji Yao hastily got up and coughed embarrassedly as he stood beside a thrilled Rui Li with eyes glowing like fireflies. He didn't understand what was going on with her lately.
"Yao-ge, help me up," said Rui Fei reaching out to touch his hand which was ruthlessly smacked away. Ji Yao walked over him breaking this poor boy's heart.
Rui Fei watched on as Ji Yao walked into Ji Wen's study. As soon as he was out of sight, Rui Fei lay his head down on the ground with his hand on his chest as he dazedly looked at the starry night.
His view was suddenly blocked by a familiar face that looked more ecstatic than usual. "I have jumped ship and am rooting for you Yao-ge... Jiayou," she said pumping her fist to encourage him before jumping over him as well to follow Ji Yao. Rui Fei had no idea what she was talking about neither did he have the energy to figure it out because he was in his own happy place.
No one had ever made him act this silly before. Granted he had only been out in the world for two years but in those two years, it was only Ji Yao who made him this happy. Yes, he was taciturn half the time and angry the rest of it but Rui Fei found him fascinating and wanted to be in his company all the time.
While Rui Fei was stuck in his happy place, Ji Yao had just caught Ji Wen tinkering with a disc contraption. This was part of Nocru technology which Ji Yao was not interested in. It was a combination of minerals stones and seraphic energy developed by the people of Niuq.
But because this was earth and Niuq's minerals were a rarity that only appeared on earth because of the incident fifty-something years ago this technology was underdeveloped.
"What are you doing?" he asked innocently but Ji Wen's reaction had him suspicious. The tyrannical pirate king had swept everything off the table while saying,
"No-nothing...," in a guilt-ridden voice. Ji Yao raised a brow while peering at him making the pirate king nervous enough to confess. "I am making a lie detector for you. I want to know what is in that cave and if you lie to me it will zap you," explained Ji Wen.
"You do realise I am your son and I can control anything remotely similar to lightning, right?" said Ji Yao feeling like his father was losing his mind.
"Oh..... damnit!" exclaimed Ji Wen realising how stupid his idea was. Just as he thought he had lost all hope, little miss Rui interjected.
"You know you can ask Wan Wan to infiltrate his mind, right? Just sneak up on him while he is asleep and Wan-ge can set it up... Oh, and don't ask me how I know that," she said giving Ji Wen a cheat sheet on how to infiltrate his son's mind.
Ji Wen knitted his brows when he saw her.
Wasn't this his alone time? Why were there kids barging into his study? "You better sleep with one eye open from now on," he said to Ji Yao.
"How about you stay out of my brain and focus on something else more important," replied Ji Yao placing the keystone on the table before sitting down opposite his father.
Ji Wen, "...."
He was wondering why his son's hair was dishevelled especially when he was a full-blown neat freak but after seeing that keystone he couldn't give a damn even if his son shaved off his eyebrows. "Whe-where did you get this?" he asked struggling to maintain his composure.
"Ask him," replied Ji Yao pointing in Rui Fei's direction. Rui Fei had finally extricated himself from his happy place and walked in with his hair dishevelled as well. Ji Wen really wanted to ask why both of them looked like they had survived through some type of great tribulation but the keystone took precedence.
To his astonishment, Rui Fei sat next to Ji Yao and when he says, next to, he means shoulders touching and Ji Yao didn't even flinch.
Seeing the pair sitting next to each other Ru Li felt like screaming in excitement. It's safe to say she had officially tossed Yao-Xiaoyu CP out of the window and jumped on the bandwagon for YaoFei CP.. Why read it in novels when she could have a front-row seat to this blossoming romance.
