Chapter 72 - Prince Rui's Counterattack 2

Before he even had the chance to get up, Ji Yao strode over and slit his throat without a second thought. He then leapt to the sky and headed to the central part of the island making sure to check for any distraught persons on the way.

The closer he got to home the louder the screams and wails but he wasn't deterred. He immediately joined the fight taking down the enemy one at a time. The smell of blood permeated the air as the body count increased.

Ji Yao struck a masked man reaching to grab Rui Li from behind. The man was sent flying a great distance with smoke coming off his back but before he went far, Rui Li sliced his body in half at the swing of her sabre. Her face was covered in blood but she didn't seem to care.

She wiped it off with her sleeve and called out sweetly, "Yao-ge!" Her voice was coated in honey but her face spelt murder.

Ji Yao was about to nod in response when a black shadow sent a masked man flying above his head. He turned to look and found Rui Yewan standing there with a smile. "Heads up," he said with a beaming expression.

"Idiot, you are supposed to say it in advance," said Rui Li pointing the tip of her sabre at Rui Yewan who was a few feet away.

Ji Yao would have liked to see how this conversation between the pair of siblings was going to end but Xiaoyu was slapped out of the sky and she fell at a speed faster than the speed of light.

Without giving it much thought Ji Yao vanished on the spot and reappeared just in time to catch Xiaoyu. His entire body was agitated and he just wanted to drop this hot potato real quick.

But as for the damsel in distress, she was in seventh heaven. She had been teleporting families into the safe house when she was attacked. She was just doing as she should but who would have thought she would get this kind of reward?

Ji Yao put her down and asked, "Are you okay?" giving her a once over glance checking for wounds. Lucky for her she was in her Nocru form otherwise she would have been showing her blanched skin. Her lips were pressed into a thin line as she nervously rubbed her hands together in front of her.

What Ji Yao hadn't noticed was that this hero saves the beauty performance had been witnessed by a certain someone who didn't seem too pleased about it. He had just emerged from the shadows after slaughtering the enemy only to be met by this scene when he returned home.

Feeling bitter he decided not to ruin this harmonious setting but it soon seemed like he had no choice in the matter because he was suddenly ambushed.

One can only imagine how much the poor soul who had decided to attack Rui Fei suffered as the anger from his bitterness was vented out on him. He almost couldn't control his seraphic energy partially exposing his true nature.

While he was beating the shit out of the naive masked man, Ji Yao was attacked by a force so powerful it flung him to the forest.

Blindsided by such a fierce attack Ji Yao couldn't regain his footing in time that his body was flung into a couple of trees before crashing to the ground.

Like a missile, his body dragged a few feet on the ground leaving tracks in the dirt. Ji Yao grimaced in pain as he placed his hand on his abdomen. He tried to get up but he was in so much pain that he laid on his side with the veins on his neck protruding through his skin.

A figure suddenly appeared out of thin air and towered over him with each of his feet on either side of Ji Yao's body. The man crouched down and grabbed Ji Yao's chin forcing him to look up.

"Well, well, well... what do we have here? Hahaha... Ji Wen's precious egg. Tsk, tsk tsk, where is your daddy? Why isn't he here to protect you," he said before a rush of purple light smacked the side of Ji Yao's face so hard that he had blood flowing at the corner of his mouth.

Prince Rui clutched Ji Yao's collar and pulled him up till his lips were right next to the boy's ear. "Didn't your father teach you not to touch other people's things?..... You robbed me of something very important.... since every action has consequences then you must understand my predicament."

A purple light gathered at the tip of Prince Rui's finger as he drew it close to Ji Yao's forehead. Ji Yao was about to put up a fight when the prince's body was blasted off him. Ji Yao's vision blurred as he struggled to get up. He could vaguely see two shadows fighting but he couldn't discern who was who. The struggle between the two shadows didn't last long because Prince Rui managed to take down Xunshi Zhe with minimum effort.

With Xunshi Zhe down there was no one left to stop Prince Rui. He had a grudge against this brat who facilitated his most priced possession's escape. Naturally, he had to make that kid pay.

He raked his fingers through his hair as he got up and ambled over to Ji Yao. Ji Yao pretended to be weak as he mounted his seraphic energy internally. He was after all Ji Wen's offspring so how could he go down without a fight.

The unsuspecting prince walked over with a blooded sinister smile on his face as he said, "Where the father failed to educate I will make up for... Ji Wen should thank me."

As he said this a black sword materialized in his hand. A purple line spread at the centre of the blade as he raised it to strike this brat. Ji Yao crossed his hand together with his palms facing up and fired a ball of lightning at the man but before it hit Prince Rui, a sudden burst of energy struck him sending him a great distance away from Ji Yao.

Ji Yao was about to heave a sigh of relief when he felt that familiar terrifying existence that he hadn't felt for two years. His body froze in place with every nerve in his body stretched tautly. All he could see was that face covered in dirt ordering him over and over again.

"Stay.... Stay... Stay!!!!"

Ji Yao, "Oh shit."
