Voyage With The Pirate King

Chapter 74 - Coming Of Age Sword

Just as he realised he couldn't move a muscle, a hand suddenly pulled him up. His body stiffened in fright as he raised his head to face Rui Fei but Rui Fei was so afraid to see what kind of expression Ji Yao wore while looking at him so he didn't look at his face. Rather he helped Ji Yao up without looking at his face and set him down against a tree trunk furthest from the battlezone.

But just as he wanted to get up Rui Fei felt an unbearable pain pierce his brain like he had been directly stabbed in the skull by a knife. His eyes reddened as he fell forward right into Ji Yao's body. It seemed his entire body had been arrested in place and rendered useless.

In fact, it was Prince Rui attacking the Huishe with the seraphic energy he extracted from his daughter with the pink eyes. He was using it to torment Rui Fei and subdue him.

Ji Yao was so petrified as he watched Rui Fei in so much pain. But what could he do? One hit from Prince Rui had torn his body in so many places which made him weak and hopeless. He didn't know what to do. If only his father was here to save him but his dad was gone and he was left in charge.

"Hahaha... let me let you in on a secret," said prince Rui as he leisurely strolled over with an overpowering air of superiority, "contrary to the rumours, each and every aether I sucked dry of its seraphic energy remains in my body which means I have more than fifty ways to kill the both of you as long as my aether is powered up."

He crouched down before the two of them who looked like they were embracing and said, "So how about you hand him over and I may be able to spare your life young master Ji?" rubbing his thumb and index finger together. The rings on his finger shimmered with the moonlight.

Ji Yao could feel Rui Fei's body trembling from the pain as he silently endured. His Huishe form had vanished after being subjected to extreme torture by the evil prince. He couldn't see Rui Fei's face but he could easily tell that the boy was biting deep into his lower lip to prevent himself from yelling out in pain.

He clenched his fist on the ground gathering a handful of dirt. Because Prince Rui was most sensitive to seraphic energy right now he opted for an unexpected physical attack to buy himself some time to flee with Rui Fei.

"Unfortunately, I can't do that. You have already done plenty of damage and me delivering him to you is like a death sentence so no," replied Ji Yao glowering at him.

Prince Rui seemed amused by this as he chuckled saying, "It's so funny that you think this is an option. It's quite cute actually. Given that you are Qilin Hao's son I was trying to save you some face but your attitude is really, really upsetting."

"That was exactly my intention," replied Ji Yao as he flung dirt into the prince's eyes before enduring through the pain fleeing with Rui Fei. He could hear the curses and howls coming from prince Rui but he didn't stop.

His complexion paled further with beads of cold sweat lacing his forehead as he dragged Rui Fei along but they didn't get far. They were suddenly knocked out of the sky by a force great enough to sweep away a brick house from its foundation.

Ji Yao landed a few feet from Rui Fei who got knocked out cold. Ji Yao was stupefied as he tried to call out Rui Fei's name but the kid was unresponsive.

What he didn't know was that years of latrion injections had taken a toll on Rui Fei which meant Prince Rui could bend him to his will as long as he doesn't restore the damage.

Because Rui Fei had no proper guidance when he left the dungeon he had unresolved shortcomings that Prince Rui could manipulate. Even if he was a thousand times more powerful than his father he would still lose time and time again.

Ji Yao saw prince Rui coming so he stood up with great difficulty and summoned his sabre. What kept him going at this point was his spirit. Who was he? A direct descendant of the king of the seas, the son of the Lord of lightning and Qilin Hao's only heir so how could he go down easily?

Engaging the full might of his aether he grabbed his sabre but just as he prepared himself to defend against the prince's incoming attack a shing sound from a sword being drawn from its sheath reverberated in the air.

He had no time to look back so he carried on only to have his sabre knocked out his hand and replaced by the same sword gifted to him by his mother.

Ji Yao, "..."

It was as though it was doing the most natural thing taking its rightful place beside Ji Yao. It ruthlessly demoted Ji Yao's sabre and even taunted the weakling stabbing the soil.

Ji Yao creased his brow wondering if this was a sword or a living entity. This line of thought was soon cut off when unfamiliar seraphic energy stirred up in his aether and escaped through his aetherial veins before spreading onto the sword.

Just as the prince reached him and swung his black sword, Ji Yao's sword was covered in a blazing flame mixed with ferocious lightning sparks. He blocked prince Rui's attack and felt his blood boil as the once docile mighty Qilin genes jumpstart.

The collision when their swords clashed was so powerful that it sent them both a few steps backwards. Prince Rui found this challenge intriguing as he said, "Neat trick boy but unfortunately you can't defeat me," with a sneer.

Ji Yao didn't feel the need to respond. Such trash was undeserving of his time. In an instinctual move, he transferred a lot of his seraphic energy onto the sword and something incredible happened. The blade was completely engulfed in flames and elongated into a flaming whip.

He cracked the whip towards Prince Rui. The man didn't have time to process what just happened before he was struck in the face burning half of it.

Prince Rui staggered backwards glaring daggers at Ji Yao. He touched his face with his finger where he had just been burnt in disbelief. He thought that bitch didn't care for this brat and his stupid father but it seems he was wrong.

It all made sense now why her subordinates Qilin Luse would talk him out of interfering with Ji Wen's business. Even with this attack on the island, he had to do it when Qilin Luse was following up on a lead on the keystones. Time and time again he wanted to face off with Ji Wen but Qilin Luse always dissuaded him. It was all for Qilin Hao. After this, there was a need to reevaluate their partnership.
