VRMMO: My first Contractee is Yandere

Chapter 64 Leisure Life

It seems we have achieved victory.

Rouro continues attacking the corpse, so Liora uses her [Tame] skill to dismiss him. Otherwise, Rouro would destroy even the rewards.

Although Rouro is powerful, he is hopelessly destructive in every other aspect. Thankfully, the important materials seem to have survived.

The important items have been automatically transferred to the [Item Box].

"I got something interesting."

The item we acquired is called [Seed of the World Tree].

No details are available. We have no idea what kind of item it is, and it doesn't seem to be listed on any walkthrough site.

Either it's never dropped before or it's been kept secret.

Personally, I'd prefer the latter. Secret items tend to be more powerful.

Upon appraisal, the only thing we learned is that it's a Seed of the World Tree. This might allow us to grow a World Tree.

The materials from the World Tree would be excellent for alchemy.

It's exciting to think that my alchemy may soon reach a practical stage.

With that hope in mind, we did a bit of exploration before heading back to the guild to report.

In the guild master's office, Liora finished her report without even sitting down. It seems she's eager to get to dinner.

The master didn't seem to mind, simply nodding and saying "Hmm" as Liora spoke.

"Ah, a raid-class boss, huh? That's interesting. Good work on the report."

"Mm."

It seems our mission is complete.

For us, just being able to play in the raid was a reward in itself. However, it looks like we'll also receive the mission completion reward.

Well, it's just cash and merit points, but still.

The boss we defeated will likely respawn after some time. It won't attack anymore, which is a relief for the local population.

That Evil World Tree couldn't move, but it could endlessly spawn minions.

It must have been quite a threat… at least to the common folk.

Though how it would have gotten out of the underground is another question.

"Liora, ask about that thing."

"God says we need land."

"Land?" The guild master tilted his head.

"Settling down at your age could be boring… but there are adventurers who do that. For the guild, having strong adventurers settle down is beneficial. What kind of land do you want? For an A-rank adventurer, we can make some arrangements."

"Really?"

"Of course. As long as you don't cause any problems."

"…I'm kind of a troublemaker."

Liora can't be called a model student. She changed quest objectives during the slave trader mission and got fired as a temporary instructor.

The guild master smiled.

It was a smile like that of a kind-hearted teacher guiding a young child.

"Troublemakers don't let us know anything. But you, you're simply exercising your rights, and you even report back to us. Real troublemakers change quests without saying a word and act on their own judgment."

"Then…I am excellent."

"Exactly. Now, tell me what kind of land you want. Take your time."

"No, we're going to dinner. We will talk about land later! Bye!"

After that, we made plans to purchase land in Mariela.

We ended up purchasing land in the depths of the forest, about an hour from Mariela. It seems this land belongs to Mariela according to the territory humans have arbitrarily established.

It's not within the city walls, as we're not buying land for "living."

Liora summoned Rouro, who began destroying the surroundings.

Weak monsters, trees, rocks—all were smashed by Rouro's fists.

After dismissing Rouro, we stood in the newly cleared space. A decent amount of space had been secured.

In front of me stood Liora, wearing a straw hat, her brand-new overalls, and a fresh towel around her neck.

My spirit form also wore a matching straw hat, just for fun.

"Let's plant the seed now."

"Yes! …God, I can use a skill…!"

"What skill… could it be [Landscaping]?"

"As expected of God! You knew from the start!"

"Well, of course I did."

It seems that Liora can plant the [Seed of the World Tree] more skillfully than usual. You might find it surprising, but the [Landscaping] skill is not related to enhancing scythe techniques.

It went according to plan, probably.

"Time to plant!"

Liora dug a hole with a shovel created from [Darkness Creation]. She carefully placed the seed into the hole, and just then—

[System Message: Contracted Liora has been registered as the owner of the World Tree]

"?"

Liora tilted her head in confusion, and her straw hat slipped off. I caught it with [Darkness Creation] and placed it back on her head as I nodded.

"It means you've become the caretaker of the World Tree. The benefits are unclear, though. For now, let's focus on nurturing this seed. We'll be staying here for a while, Liora."

"! We'll be together forever!"

"No, Liora will stay here, not me."

"…?"

It seemed a bit difficult for her to grasp.

But well, if Liora stays here, I'll be here too. I've already used [Darkness Creation] to set up a house.

Staying here for a while won't be a problem.

"Let's start decorating the house."

"Yes! It's God's and my house!"

The house I created with [Darkness Creation] is a bit lifeless. There's no lighting, so we'll need to arrange things purchased from shops.

We set up the sofa, bed, and shelves we got through paid items. There's also a bathing facility, but it requires a large amount of water, so using it daily will be difficult.

After cleaning herself up from working in the dirt, Liora changed clothes and sat down on the sofa with a soft "poof."

I was placed nearby and quietly spent my time reading. Meanwhile, Samurai and the [Weak Vine Dogs] were on guard.

The Vine Dogs are weak and seem useless… but their job is to die. If they disappear, it means something is approaching.

And so, time passed peacefully.

*****

"Plowing fields on sunny days and reading books on rainy days."

It signifies a lifestyle of enjoying both productive work and leisurely activities, and is often praised as a symbol of a carefree, ideal life.

Originally, my goal in starting "Sugo" was to achieve freedom and liberation from society, which aligns with what Liora likely desires as well.

For us, tending to the World Tree is a refreshing and satisfying activity. Let's outline our recent activities:n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Morning: Liora tends to the World Tree, dealing with nearby monsters and building barriers. She also cultivates other plants around the World Tree.

Afternoon: After changing clothes, Liora studies with me. Her ability to absorb knowledge quickly makes teaching her a pleasure. She has already covered all the material for sixth-grade education.

Evening: Liora and I spend time relaxing. I read books or watch movies while she happily makes me sits on her lap.

At the end of the day, we take a bath together.

Bathing is often overlooked in games, but it's important for hygiene and preventing illnesses. Over-washing can be problematic, so I try to manage it to avoid wasting time.

"-God"

"What is it, Liora?"

"It feels good!"

"I'm glad to hear that. It's not so bad to enjoy this."

"Yes! Right!"

Liora is beginning to appreciate the joys of a slower-paced life. While it might not be typical for a young child to understand, there's no harm in her learning these joys now if it brings her happiness.

After becoming tired of reading, I lay down on the bed. Liora follows, cuddling me like a stuffed animal.

Despite her small size, she feels warm and comforting, making me drowsy. Though I prefer real sleep, VR napping will suffice for now.

We slept.

Upon waking, we decided to go outside for a change of scenery. The land, previously ravaged by Roro's destruction, is now beginning to recover.

Grass and trees are growing, and the World Tree has already reached Liora's waist in height.

Although the World Tree currently looks like an ordinary tree, possibly similar to an oak, it remains an unknown plant.

We wonder if it will eventually resemble the corrupted World Tree. Hopefully, it won't develop a face.

"It seems monsters aren't coming around much."

"Yes, is it because of God's power?"

"No, it might be due to the World Tree's influence."

Initially, this forest was teeming with monsters. We used various anti-monster items and methods to manage them.

As the World Tree has grown, the number of enemies has decreased, which is a positive development.

Liora can function without sleep due to her high regeneration and resilience, as well as the effects of the Angelic Factor.

However, she is still a growing child, and adequate rest is important. Although it's unclear if NPCs grow or change, their appearance can alter based on their nutrition.

Since I have seen it practically in Liora's case.

"Will this become a raid boss?"

"It's possible, but it's unlikely to attack its owner."

Liora is officially recognized by the system as the World Tree's owner, so it would be strange for it to attack us.

I use the scissors made from [Darkness Creation] to prune the World Tree's sapling, cutting small branches to encourage better growth. Liora's landscaping skills are proving useful.

I examine the small branches and discover they are materials for alchemy. With the quantity we've gathered over the past few days, it's time to start my production.

Since I have the necessary equipment, I began the alchemy process using the World Tree materials.
