VRMMORPG: Dragomancer Reborn

Chapter 5 Aiming For A Top Class

"They really make taking a loan easy, huh…" Arthur looked at the account balance on his phone.

>100,113.50 UC.

With the loan scheme that Hypnotek had come up with, getting enough money to buy their new Dream Pod V3 was as easy as verifying one's ID and signing a single document.

Of course, one might ask, what assurance did Hypnotek have that the borrower would buy the Dream Pod?

One could technically spend the amount on anything they wanted, there was no restriction on that. But they would also have to pay a higher interest rate if they did that.

Since one's ID and biometrics were verified when using a Dream Pod, the company would know if they were using their product. Depending on whether they bought and registered, their interest rates would vary.

The interest rate upon getting a Dream Pod was 5% per annum; quite reasonable.

But if one did not buy a Dream Pod and simply spent the money on something else, the interest rate was a whopping 30%!

Of course, despite this, there was no lack of people who had fallen for this and taken the quick and easy loan, only to spend it on other items. Most of these people had also failed to pay back the loan and ended up in quite a lot of trouble.

Arthur didn't need to think much about it though, as that was not his intention at all.

"Alright, now that the funds are secured, I need to book the Dream Pod." Arthur pulled out his phone, searching for the shops selling the Dream Pod.

After a couple of minutes of searching, he found his intended shop. But his expression was not that of satisfaction.

"Dammit… I really have to go that far." Arthur didn't just need to buy a Dream Pod V3, he needed to buy it in a specific location.

'If I want to start that hidden quest, there is no other way.' Arthur did not waver.

The world in Morpheus Online was perfect and was several times bigger in size than the earth. It was all controlled by a massive AI, and the quests were also generated by it. While there were many factors behind the quest generation, one of the basic factors was the location.

Some quests were simply region-specific or even region locked.

The two sounded similar but were still different.

For Region specific quests, one would walk there in-game to do the quests, but for region-locked quests, only the players of that region could attempt them. Even if others tried to go there and did the same procedure as the native players, they wouldn't be able to trigger it.

The hidden quest that Arthur was aiming for was a class quest. Finishing the quest would grant the user a unique class that no one else could have.

And why was Arthur doing so much to get the class?

It was because it was the class that the number one player of Morpheus Online had.

What was most shocking was the fact that this class wasn't actually discovered early on, but rather three years after the game had already been launched. It was around the same time that Arthur had started playing too.

This showed just how strong the class was, as it could put one at the number one spot despite having a three year handicap!

'If I can obtain it at the very start, my potential will be limitless!' Arthur felt a rush of excitement just thinking about it.

Gaining a bit of a boost in his step, he jogged to the nearest Skytrain station and hopped onto the next one.

"I can only make this trip twice… I'll be out of funds after that." Arthur calculated his cash.

He technically only had a little over 100 union credits to spend. A round trip to the capital city would cost him 30 union credits since the shop he was going to be located in the Capital city.

He would spent 30 today, 30 when it was the day of the launch, while the rest of the amount would be used by him for food.

After all, he couldn't starve himself, could he?

The hundred or so union credits he had were originally supposed to last him twenty days after all, since he was still waiting on the job he had applied to.

'There is no need to go to that shitty job now…' Arthur recalled his long hours behind the cashier till for minimum wage.

He had given several interviews for jobs over two weeks ago, but had only gotten the response quite later on. In the past, Arthur had almost lost hope and thus, when he got the response, he took it without thinking much.

But he had come to regret it later on, as the pay was not worth the effort.

'At least I don't need to worry about it now…' Arthur felt relieved.

The journey to the Capital city was about two hours long, so he had quite some time to spend on the train. So as to not waste any time, Arthur started noting down everything of importance he could think of on the phone.

While he had already noted down things earlier, there were still some smaller events that he was now recalling.

"I almost forgot about the other players too! I need to keep them in mind while plotting my path." Arthur said to himself.

The people sitting around Arthur simply ignored him. There were far too many youngsters daydreaming after all.

Maxwell City was actually one of the satellite cities of the Capital City. There were many people who worked in the capital but could not afford to live there, so they lived in these satellite cities.

They would simply commute to and from the capital, making their lives a bit hectic but affordable.

Arthur didn't even realize as time zipped by while noting down things.

~DING~

"All passengers are advised that this is the last stop. The Skytrain will be returning in fifteen minutes." An announcement was heard.

Arthur joined the crowd in getting off the train. It was a bit of a struggle, but he eventually managed to leave the station.
