Chapter 4: Learning how to fly
Chapter 4: Learning how to fly
While the players of other races replied in the forums that their Training grounds are also not opened and they were hunting in the wilderness to gain levels, the furious players of Angel race didn't cool down and send a lot of complaints to the company.
Because of a lot of complaints, Summersoft notified all the players that the Training Hall can only be opened 30 minutes later. Seeing it, players of the Angel race over all the continents became even angrier as they were stuck on their sanctuaries while others leveling up but the Company was silent about that issue because it was designed that way.
Several impatient players reset their character and simply changed the race and proceeded with the same class they have chosen before. Meanwhile, the ones who are eager to try out flying waited for half an hour while conversing with each other in the meantime.
After half n hour, all the players received a notification, "Training Hall and Training grounds are opened. Players, please proceed towards it to receive their first Quest."
Williard saw the players were rushing into the Training Hall and then, most of them were rushing out as soon as they stepped inside. As he followed them and stepped inside the building, Williard received a notification.
"You received a Quest request."
As he opened it, he read,
"Angel Celia believes that a person who doesn't know how to fly with their wings isn't a true Angel. You can only learn that by risking your life. Go forth to the edge of the sanctuary and jump down to unleash your wings and start flying."
Quest reward: 100EXP (+20%), 50 copper.
Williard thought, "This is what I love about Angels, 20% additional EXP but this starting is more like an S-rank Quest. For humans like us, it's very hard to try flying. This is the part where the nightmare begins."
Several players began resurrecting upon failing. But since there are no penalties existed until level 20, most of the players tried again and again.
Many of the other players who were trying to level up in the 1-5 leveling areas were startled as players were jumping down from the edge but failing to fly and drop dead on the ground right before them, or their prey or even on them coincidentally.
Williard stood at the edge and looked at the others, who were looking like they are participating in a mass suicide. Then, he took a long breath and jumped down. A few seconds later, he resurrected on the sanctuary after failing like the rest of them.

The forums again filled with a massive number of insults from players all over the world, who are facing the same situation.
"This is retarded" "This race is just a waste of time" "I'm quitting this game" "I'm resetting the character and changing my race right now" "What the **** is with Angels" "Fix this **** Summersoft" etc
More than 60% of the Angel race players that are like at least 3-4 million overall, used the Reset stone, a Welcome gift which resets all of the levels, skills, and attributes except their character name and the items in their inventory, and changed their race to another one, causing a slight panic among GMs of the Summersoft.
Just when the GMs are discussing whether this incident would bring a bad reputation to the company, positive comments began to appear one by one in the forum.
"Wow, the experience of flying is awesome" "The view from the sky is really great" "Just don't give up and think of it as you won't resurrect and you'll die for real, only then, you can fly" "hahaha, those cowards who ran from the challenge and used the reset stone are going to regret while we're flying" etc...
At first, people thought that it might be the staff spouting out lies but then, as tens of thousands began to reply positively along with Rachel, a popular professional gamer of "Red Devils," the commotion died down a bit and a few players from other classes too used their Reset stone and changed their race to Angels to experience flying.
Meanwhile, Williard was stubbornly trying over and over to complete the Quest even after dying more than a dozen times.
While his mind says to give up and choose the other race, he kept on saying himself, "c'mon, you can do it. I can see a lot of them here got successful in their attempts. Moreover, I don't have a choice. To get that class, either I need to be an Elf or an Angel. And without wings, I would have to wait for at least level 200-250 to get to that place safely. You can't afford to give this one up, no matter what."
As Williard closed his eyes and stretched his hands after jumping down again for the nth time, he thought, "You are an Angel. You were born with wings like birds. Your wings are like your hands. Calm down and think of them as a part of your body." A level 3 human on the ground shook his head and thought, "another fool was falling to his death," as he saw Williard falling.
But to his surprise, just when Williard almost reached the ground, the wings on his back opened as he opened his eyes and glides and then flies up while receiving two notifications.
"Congratulations on learning the flying skill. It was added to the skill panel."
"You have completed the Quest successfully. Return to the Training Hall and report to Angel Celia and collect your reward."
After gaining the flying skill, he started flying with ease and went straight to the sanctuary without fooling around like others. After landing on the sanctuary, his wings automatically closed and he started walking towards the Training Hall.
After stepping inside and waited in a queue for a while, soon, his turn came up and he reported to her. As soon as she patted his shoulder and said, "Good job," while giving him a bag full of copper coins, Williard heard a notification sound followed by glowing up brightly for a fraction of seconds like others who reported before him.
"Congratulations, you leveled up. You reached level 2."
As he saw the EXP bar that showed, "20/300," Willard nodded in satisfaction with a smile on his.
Then, as he mumbled, "Show Character menu," a holographic screen appeared before his eyes.

After every level up, five attribute points are awarded for free to every player irrespective of their race or class and leave the players to their choices to develop their own unique builds.
As for skill points, every player will receive a skill point for every five levels or when they gained an active skill. Gaining a skill through Skill Books won't provide skill points though.
Looking at his mana stat, Williard thought, "I can only fly for 6 minutes straight. It is nowhere enough. As the skill levels can be increased by using them frequently, I need to keep focusing on this one skill and reach the maximum level. Then, I also need to allot the points. My primary focus should be increasing my flying speed and MP.
Hmm, leveling is also necessary to leave this village and to gain more free points but I also don't want to put the free attribute points into other stats. If I play alone or in a small party, I would be forced to allot free points to Intelligence. Hmm, hiring random players also don't work, at least, not now. After all, everyone in the starting levels is so ambitious.
Wait a second. How did I forget the biggest advantage of my real-life identity? Instead of players, I can just hire thugs in real life with a fixed salary to help me level up and do all kinds of errands for me. Yes, a brilliant idea indeed. But their behavior will be troublesome though. Nah! let Aster take care of everything."
