Chapter 301 Corrupt

Chapter 301 Corrupt

"Young boy, this does not concern you. Just sign this and we will all be on our way." The guard menacingly said.

He unsheathed his sword and waved it around, staring Jake in the face.

"You… alright. I'll bite. Why are you even doing this? Tauri is not even the best place to be pulling something like this. You could have tried this in any other kingdom and you would have avoided so many problems." Jake sighed.

"I mean, what is there to even take in this place? This is worth nothing without the god of light protecting the region."

"You need a Viscount at least to pull this off. A Baron won't even cut it. Why do you want to risk it? Just le the go and I won't even tell anyone." Jake finally said.

The guard just smiled with all of his teeth showing.

"Are you going to do this or not? If you don't, there will come someone who can be… persuaded." The guard said.

"Forget it. Just come at me. All of you." Jake held his sword and looked around calmly.

One? Two? No, there's three people around me.

The guard looked shocked, taking a step back. He quickly settled himself and charged at Jake.

"How did you know that there were more than one of us?"

Jake turned his sword's edge and struck his enemy with the blunt end, sliding to the side and struck the wall ahead of him.

"Aargh!"

A shriek ensued. Another guard, shorter but buffer, emerged from the false wall, coughing as he grasped his neck.

"You bastard. How did you know where I was?" He voice cracked as he tried to shout at the singular enemy.

But Jake didn't answer. There wasn't any magic behind this madness. As a player, he was able to see that there were names hovering on top of these walls.

He was experienced enough to know that these weren't glitches. There was someone watching him and it was something that he had to be prepared for.

"The King. I wonder what he will do when he finds out that even his guards want to overthrow him." Jake smiled as he said.

"You have no idea just how deep this goes. You should have just listened to us. Now, you are caught in something that you can't even begin to fathom." A third voice said.

This voice was deeper. Older.

Jake's face changed as he brought his sword close to his chest, sliding to the side.

A large purple blast blew apart the floor right where he used to stand.

Burnt rubble flew everywhere, but Jake's armor was kind enough to shield him from the majority of it.

"You Loviel Nobles are always irritating to deal with. Always righteous. Now, another unexplained death will deter more people from coming to our treasure trove." The same, deep voice spoke again.

Jake looked at where the sound came from.

It was the second person hiding in the walls. This man looked just how he sounded.

He was draped in dark purple robes, mage robes. He had a long, white beard and a tall mage's staff.

His demeanor was as if he was the master of the three that stood beside him now.

The old man looked to the side at the tall guard.

"This one won't be of any help. Make sure that nothing here will be discovered." He said. Then, he looked at Jake.

"Such a pity. What will it be? Resisting capture? Or trying to overthrow the king? You can choose your own fate." He asked.

Jake coughed as he stood up, looking unbothered by the surprise attack.

"Looks like I underestimated you. I didn't think that any one of you were actually capable of damaging me." Jake chuckled as he glanced at the exit.

The door was closed, but it was made out of wood, so it didn't really matter.

"Guess I have to deal with all of you later. But do not worry. I won't forget this." Jake smiled as he darted to the exit.

He reached for the door, not even attempting to open it, but to blast by it instead.

Instead, he hit an iron wall.

His sword just stopped where it was, as if there was a giant barrier stopping him.

Jake turned around and saw that the old man had his hand out. A yellow magic circle was revolving right in front of the man's hand and it told Jake exactly what he needed to know.

"You have got to be kidding me. A Chaos Mage? I thought that you guys weren't going to appear till next year!" Jake threw his sword down to the ground in frustration.

"I swear to god. This butterfly effect and everything is messing up my plans a lot. Now I have to fight against you annoying lot? No wonder you're here. You need a base to build." Jake murmured as he stomped on the ground.

His sword flew back up and he grabbed the hilt, charging at the four men in front of him.

The third guard had long come out of hiding and was the biggest of them all.

He had a giant shield, and was the tank of this small party.

"Two damage dealers, one tank, and a mage? This is not a bad party! This is going to be irritating." Jake sighed and his image flickered.

He appeared right behind the mage and his sword flew toward the mage's head.

Clang!

The shorter guard appeared above the mage, holding off the sword with his left hand's gauntlet.

Blood dripped down from the guard's arm but he didn't even so much as flinch.

Another fanatic type?

Jake dismissed his thought and jumped at the tank instead.

If all of these people were going to put their life on the line for this mage, then they were going to have to go first.
