Chapter 97 Victory
The runes around White Jade were about to make a full circle.
But the sword was faster than her mouth. And the sword hit the mage.
[Critical Hit! -1367 HP]
Almost immediately, the HP bar of White Jade dropped down to yellow. One attack did so much damage, considering that she was a mage with terrible defense and worse health.
She flew back, and the runes all disappeared. While she was on the ground, Jake jumped forward and his sword was pointed at her neck.
"Just a second late and I would have taken considerable damage. You are much stronger than I expected. I am surprised at your skill." Jake nodded with respect.
For a mage to land a few hits on him, and almost cast a big spell which would have activated if Jake was just a sliver slower, was a big deal.
Sure, Jake could use the reflect skill, but that was because of his legendary equipment. He knew that the skills and maneuvers that White Jade used were not possible by just anyone.
So while White Jade had an ashamed look on her face, Jake was satisfied with his performance and his opponent's.
"Your people are really talented, chairman. I wonder what this elite group of players is called." Jake asked, chuckling.
"The Praetorian Guard. It is something that means a lot to me." Nolan said.
"The Praetorian Guard. The guards of the king of Rome. You must really like the kingdom, to be basing this whole guild after it." Jake laughed.
Nolan was surprised though.

"You know of the Praetorian Guard? That is interesting. I didn't think that a young man would brush up on his history when the only thing that is expected of you is work and menial labor." He said.
"That is true. But I did read a few books in my mean time." Jake nodded.
"Well then. I saw what I needed to see. You do not disappoint at all. Let us look at something else then," Nolan smiled and said.
"You have something other than this that you want to show me? Something more interesting than a group full of elite players, all of them excellent prospects for a guild? You must be joking, Chairman." Jake looked at him with shock.
"I may have misspoken. This is our trump card. This is our true strength. This is what we are giving to the alliance. But there is something else that I will need your opinion on. And it is somewhere else." Nolan said.
He then waved his hand.
"Go back to work," he said.
The circle of players disbanded, and everyone went to the exact position that they were in a few minutes ago. It was like Jake was looking at an army battalion. For everyone to be so perfectly disciplined.
White Jade also disappeared unknowingly, and Jake didn't have the chance to commend her on her fighting.
But Jake didn't care enough. He looked back at Nolan.
"Well then, what did you want to show me that is good enough for you to take away the chance to humiliate me with your excellent elites?" Jake joked.
"There is a room here that would quite interest you, I suppose. A room that you might want to pay to take something away from." Nolan said.
"Don't tell me! Do you want me to give you a little cash so that you can finally have some in hand? I mean, you probably spent all that you have on his headquarters you have here." Jake said.
"Then what is it that is here, Chairman. My curiosity is killing me." Jake asked again.
"Someone told me that you like to drag out the suspense in things." Nolan raised his eyebrows.
"It looks like that someone is very close to me though. Since I only do those to the people next to me." Jake looked straight at Nolan.
They turned their backs to the hall as they walked along the corridor, Nolan leading.
"I do have a few spies everywhere, tailing those who interest me. That is why you are in my radar, Shadow King. Of course, that and the raid notification that the entire world has looked at." Nolan nodded.
"It looks like there is a side to you that I do not like." Jake didn't like the fact that there was someone tailing him, and that he couldn't even sense that.
"Do not worry. What you are going to see here won't disappoint you at all." Nolan smiled.
"I wonder about that. You have raised my expectations too high. And why are we going back to the elevator that you hid- Wait a minute. Where is the elevator?" Jake realized that the elevator that descended to the basement was gone, and instead, there was an endless corridor that he didn't notice till now.
"You are truly too extravagant. This much space? This would cost you tens of millions of dollars to pull of. You would have lost a few millions just for the conversion!" Jake exclaimed.
"That is true. Now then, when you fought that woman, White Jade, did you feel like they were lacking something? Anything that could make them stronger?" Nolan asked.
Jake paused for a second.
"Equipment. Without a doubt. In her hands, she has a good magic staff, but that is all that she has. She needs a good mage robe that can increase her defense and decrease her casting time by just a little. For mages, one on one is too disadvantageous. If she has tanks around her, then she can excel." He said.
"That is true. I need to raise them as a group and send them out. But I don't have the luck that you do, finding a raid that they can actually finish." Nolan expectantly looked at Jake.
"If you want me to give you a raid that your Praetorian Guard can complete, you can just ask for it." Jake sighed.
