You're My Only Star

Chapter 24 - New Year

On the New Year, the atmosphere in Song's old mansion was especially lively.

Everyone had gathered up together for a big meal last night and in the morning, Song Xing Xing's grandparents were sitting around the living room with bright smiles on their faces. The table was full of people. Seeing the younger generation was happily running around and making a lot of noises, the two elders were very happy.

After all, their child had their own careers, lives, and family. If it was not for this festivity, it would not be easy for them to gather everyone around.

From early morning, Song Xing Xing ate a lot of food that her mother and aunties had prepared. Once she had eaten enough, the kids started to pester her around to play with them. The kids wanted to play tag and as the adult, Song Xing Xing spent her time chasing after the kids.

Even if she could run very fast with her legs, she had to pretend that it was hard to catch up with them. Perhaps, this was the reason why the kids liked to play with her.

At the side, Han Yue Xiu held baby Xiao Jun as they watched the kids played around. Xiao Jun looked at those kids running around and was extremely excited. It was as if he could not wait to grow up fast so that he could join the others to play around.

The temperature was cold, but after an hour, Song Xing Xing's forehead was full of sweat and the back of her shirt was slightly wet. It has been a while since she had run around and the kids were making her tired. Song Xing Xing thought about her weak stamina and made a promise that she would start to exercise a little bit more.

Her brother, Song Wei walked over to her with a glass of cold juice and handed it over to his sister. "You're already this old but you still play around with those kids. What is it? You are not willing to give away your throne as the king of kids?" He gave his sister a look over and clicked his tongue. "You're still very childish."

Song Xing Xing dabbed her forehead with tissue paper and drank the juice. Then, she looked at her brother arrogantly. "What's the point of growing up if you cannot be childish?" She thought about those kids' happy expressions and a satisfied smile curled on her lips.

Hearing her words, Song Wei rolled his eyes. He had thought that his sister would be a bit matured when she chose to live independently in Capital City, but it seemed that his sister had remained the same.

As the younger brother, Song Wei would often feel distressed when he saw his sister. He was the younger one, but he often acted like he was the older one.

Song Wei did not know if he should be relieved when he saw that his sister remained the same, pure and innocent girl.

When Song Xing Xing wanted to pursue her study, everyone in the family has been supportive. However, when she started to work, everyone was a little worried about her. They have heard how the how messy the entertainment industry could be, everyone was worried that she would mix with bad people. They were afraid that Song Xing Xing would be tempted by some rascal and get hurt.

This was why their mother always wanted Song Xing Xing to return to Y City.

However, they saw how happy the girl was with her job and decided not to say anything. They could only hope that the girl would live healthily and happy.

The adults called the kids to get inside.

Seeing that the kids had run around waving the red packets in their hands, Song Xing Xing walked into the house with Song Wei trailing closely. She slumped down on the sofa and heaved a long sigh. "I'm dead tired."

Song Wei looked at his sister and started to click his tongue. A few moments ago, this girl was running around the courtyard happily as if she was still a child. "So, you do know that you're an old girl."

"Shut up." Song Xing Xing sent her brother a cold look. Then, she took out her phone and clicked on her game.

The moment she logged in, the New Year event page popped up. Song Xing Xing did some quests and won herself a new New Year outfit. She immediately put the new outfit on and started walking around the map.

At this time, a few people from her guild texted her with a New Year message.

Song Xing Xing saw that her friend, General Huo was online and laughed.

General Huo: Little star, Happy New Year! Why are you online at a time like this?

Not Your Little Star: I just want to complete a few quests to win the new outfit.

Song Xing Xing thought about how she had to top up some money to complete her mission and her heart ached a little. She complained a little about it to General Huo, and the next thing she knew, that rich guy started to throw some ingots around the game.

Seeing the image of the ingots, Song Xing Xing quickly clicked on the icon and was surprised to see that the generous person had given her a lot of money.

Not Your Little Star: General Huo! You're the best!

General Huo: Your red packets. Just remember to show up at the conference on time.

Song Xing Xing thought about the game conference which will be held a few weeks later and hesitated. Although she had agreed that she was going to attend the conference, she was a little worried about meeting the man.

When she started to play this game, Song Xing Xing had never thought about meeting anyone of her in-game friends. She wanted to stay anonymous. At the thought that she was going to meet her online friend in a few weeks, Song Xing Xing was a little anxious.

She had gotten her tickets from General Huo, but Song Xing Xing was wondering if she should really show up at the conference.
